A women-only summer music festival in Michigan is under fire this week for asking transgender women interested in attending the event not to come.

After an openly transgender woman was allowed to purchase a ticket at this summer’s Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival, Camp Trans organizers released a statement on August 21 celebrating the end of an 15-year old divisive policy that served to police women’s bodies and exclude transwomen from attending the Festival.

…Michelle Kosilek was Robert Kosilek when convicted in the killing of his wife. In 1993, while in prison, Kosilek legally changed his name to Michelle. Since then, Kosilek has been fighting with prison officials to complete her transformation into a woman.

Kosilek, 57, wants the state Department of Correction to pay for a sex-change operation. After two lawsuits and two trials, the decision now rests with a federal court judge…

The case is also being closely watched by attorneys and advocates across the country who say Kosilek is an example of the poor treatment transgendered inmates receive in prison.

Students looking to enter the Harvard Business School MBA program are asked to fill out an online profile that offers three choices of gender: female, male, or transgender.

Bob Knight, director of the Culture and Family Institute (CFI) at Concerned Women for America, says “it’s not compassionate” for Harvard to encourage people to reject their “God-given natures”…

“The foundation of the transgender movement is the homosexual activist movement,” he explains, “because their interest lies in getting rid of the traditional morality of God-given division into two sexes, the uniting of those two sexes in marriage.” And the homosexual and transgender agendas “militate” against that completely…
