UNC-Chapel Hill Distances Itself from Rush but Paid Anti-Santorum ‘Gay’ Cyber-Bully Dan Savage $18,500

Also, there is a new wrinkle to this story.  As you can read below, UNC Chapel Hill has just issued a statement disconnecting itself from theRush Limbaugh in response to offensive comments Rush made about Sandra Fluke (for which he quickly apologized).  Yet UNC paid $18,500 to Dan Savage, who once said, “I wish [Republicans] were all [f—king] dead.” [Watch it HERE.]  Isn’t it fascinating how the entire Left and many in the media are up in arms over Rush yet strangely silent about the vitriol and viciousness emanating from the Left?

AFTAH is educating UNC officials about Savage’s “rude, inappropriate and offensive” statements — which include his notorious creation, “Santorum[dot]com,” which “re-defines” Rick Santorum’s surname as follows:

santorum: (san TOR um) n. the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex.

TAKE ACTION: Dan Savage is the personification of Homosexual Hate — yet he is being celebrated in Hollywood and the “mainstream” media despite his cruel activism against Rick Santorum — and his reckless advice CONDONING “outside sex” in marriage.  Sadly, Savage is also booking lucrative speaking gigs at college campuses like UNC-Chapel Hill (where he got an $18,500 speaking fee!) and Elmhurst College in Illinois (on April 29th).  For now, please take the following actions [always ASK FOR A WRITTEN RESPONSE and send us a copy at americansfortruth@gmail.com]:

• Contact Viacom, owner of MTV, and ask them to cancel the MTV show “Savage U”: http://www.viacom.com/Contact/Pages/default.aspx [see AFTAH press release below]

• (Especially ILLINOIS residents) Contact Elmhurst College and ask them to cancel the April 29th speaking appearance of Dan Savage,  creator of the vile and malicious hate-site, “Santorum[dot]com”: President S. Alan Ray [president@elmhurst.edu;  630-617-3100].  Ask to leave Pres. Ray a message and request a response.  Here is link for other Elmhurst officials.  NOTE: you may want to tell them to visit “Santorum[dot]com” and see if they are proud to be welcoming Savage to campus;

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh recently made rude, inappropriate and offensive statements. And we at Carolina found ourselves unfortunately and awkwardly connected to Limbaugh.

Limbaugh’s show airs locally on a station that also broadcasts UNC basketball and football games. That connection spurred many people to email us and prompted a petition campaign, both with the goal of urging us to drop our broadcasts from the station.

As background, Carolina Athletics has a contract with Tar Heel Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Sports. Learfield owns and operates the Tar Heel Sports Radio Network as an independent contractor of the University. The radio network includes over 50 affiliates, and that network enables people in almost all of North Carolina to listen to the live broadcasts of our football and basketball games. That’s our goal … for Carolina fans to be able hear our games.

We have not affiliated with or endorsed Rush Limbaugh or any other radio personality or politician. We have asked – and the local station has agreed – to end the practice of referencing the Tar Heel Sports Network or the University’s name while promoting the Limbaugh program and vice versa.

Beyond that, the University does not plan to take any additional action at this time.
