Controversial Pro-‘Gay’ Evangelical Andrew Marin to Speak at Park Community Church in Chicago

Friday, November 9th, 2012

Andrew Marin “was either trying to conceal his orthodox positions from his friends who identify as homosexual or that he was trying to conceal his unorthodox theological views from those who hold orthodox biblical views,” writes Laurie Higgins.

The following article by our friend Laurie Higgins is reprinted from fhe Illinois Family Institute website. AFTAH commends the excellent yet often unheralded work of IFI in maintaining a truth standard for the state:

Andrew Marin, the controversial founder and president of the Marin Foundation, is speaking next week at Park Community Church in Chicago. This is surprising in that from its website Park Community appears to be a theologically orthodox church.

Marin promotes himself as a bridge-builder between the Christian community and the homosexual community and has written a book on the subject titled Love is an Orientation. It is not Marin’s desire to reach the unsaved that is troubling. We should all seek to bring the good news of Christ’s redemptive work to those who identify as homosexual. Rather, it is his approach and his theology that generate controversy and trouble many Christians.

One of the serious problems with Marin is that when asked directly about his biblical beliefs regarding homosexuality, he is troublingly evasive. In addition, his book has received a devastating critique from Dr. Robert A. Gagnon, Associate Professor of New Testament at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and author of The Bible and Homosexual Practice: Texts and Hermeneutics.

Christians Must Return to Principle after Pro-‘Gay Marriage’ Election Day Sweep

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

Homosexual activists sweep “gay marriage” ballot measures in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington State

Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) becomes the first open lesbian to win a U.S. Senate seat. Most assuredly, the voters of Wisconsin were largely uninformed about Baldwin’s radical record in support of the homosexual-bisexual-transgender agenda.

CHICAGO– Tuesday was a devastating day for pro-family advocates concerned about the advance of same-sex “marriage” and homosexual activism. While politics does not decide moral and spiritual Truth, it is an indicator of the heart of our nation. On Nov. 6, America took another giant step away from God and our Judeo-Christian heritage.

Here are the ‘Gay’ Lobby’s biggest victories:

  • Barack Obama, the most pro-homosexual president in U.S. history, won reelection after embracing homosexual “marriage”;
  • Voters in Maine, Maryland and Washington State passed ballot measures legalizing “same-sex marriage”;
  • Minnesota voters rejected an amendment to preserve natural marriage as one-man, one-woman after 32 states previously had passed similar marriage amendments;
  • Democrat Rep. Tammy Baldwin became the first open lesbian to win a U.S. Senate seat – defeating Republican former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson. Five other open homosexuals and a bisexual atheist (Kyrsten Sinema, D-AZ) won House seats;
  • Judge David Wiggins – one of seven Iowa Supreme Court justices to legalize “gay marriage” in 2009 – survived a pro-family campaign against him and won retention. In 2010, Iowa voters tossed out three fellow Supreme Court justices who were part of the same “gay marriage” ruling.

No longer can pro-family advocates say that homosexual “marriage” has never been voted in by the people. Thanks to a never-ending bombardment of media-, educational- and pop-culture propaganda in favor of All Things Gay, homosexual “marriage” is now semi-popular, at least in Blue States. And there is no sugar-coating how damaging Obama’s reelection will be to this already depraved nation.

AFTAH Interviews Bishop EW Jackson – Part Two: Says George Washington Carver Was NOT ‘Gay’

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Slams “gay” activists’ condescension and nastiness toward Black Christians

Bishop EW Jackson

This is Part Two of our interview with Bishop EW Jackson [click HERE to listen], founder and president of the Chesapeake, Va.-based STAND (Staying True to America’s National Destiny). Jackson’s YouTube video urging Black Christians to abandon the Democratic Party because it champions immoral and anti-biblical policies like homosexual “marriage” has over 1.1 million hits. In this segment, recorded October 19, 2012, Jackson takes issue with an “LGBT Equality Month” listing claiming George Washington Carver was “gay.” Jackson and AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera discuss the media’s and liberals’ bias against people of faith and especially Black conservative Christians. You can listen to Part One of the interview HERE.

AFTAH Interviews Bishop E.W. Jackson – Part One

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

Bishop EW Jackson’s video urging fellow Blacks to flee the Democratic Party due to its anti-biblical policies now has more than 1.1 million hits.

This is a wonderful interview [click HERE to listen] with Bishop E.W. Jackson, founder and president of STAND (Staying True to America’s National Destiny) and bishop of Exodus Faith Ministries, based in Chesapeake, VA. It was recorded October 11, 2012, and is the first of two parts. Jackson is creator of a new viral video urging fellow Black Christians to “come out” of the Democratic Party due to its embrace of anti-Christian policies such as homosexual “marriage” and abortion-on-demand. Jackson says he has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Black ministers and “Americans of African descent” on his video. He tells AFTAH that he believes a significant percentage of Blacks will not vote for Barack Obama this time around, even if they do not vote for Mitt Romney. He agrees with AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera that the Republican Party will devastate its pro-family “brand” by adopting pro-homosexual politics, and criticized Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, for acquiescing to homosexuals in the military (and, in Romney’s case, homosexuality in the Boy Scouts).

Jackson — a Marine Corps Veteran, Harvard Law graduate, and former candidate for U.S. Senate in Virginia — ends by saying that liberal policies including legal abortion and the promotion of homosexuality have done far greater harm to Blacks than the KKK ever did.

‘Kvetch and Retreat’: Paul Ryan’s Capitulation on Homosexuals in the Military

Thursday, September 27th, 2012

A returning Marine plants a kiss on his boyfriend at a homecoming reception. Congressman Paul Ryan now says it would be a “step in the wrong direction” to reverse the law allowing such open homosexuality in the military. In this widely-distributed photo, we blocked the male-male kiss and circled a child in the background. Click to enlarge.

By Peter LaBarbera

Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s recent politically correct reversal on homosexuals in the military (to align with his running-mate) illustrates why conservatives often lose in politics by following a defeatist model of “Kvetch and Retreat,” as laid out by New York Orthodox Rabbi Mayer Schiller.

Schiller accurately observed how in political debates with the Left, conservatives typically warn of the dire consequences of a given policy as they passionately resist it. Then, if the Left wins, conservatives “kvetch” (complain, whine) about the loss — but rather than fight doggedly to regain lost political and cultural ground, they often “retreat” by accepting the new liberal status quo and moving on to the next battle.

The “Kvetch and Retreat” phenomenon — repeated again and again – results in a radically transformed society guided by liberal ideology and policy victories that morph into “mainstream” consensus with the help of the morally-challenged media and cultural elites.

Liberals take politics much more seriously than conservatives: they tightly adhere to their (misguided) principles and do battle with a long-term perspective – rallying behind their core beliefs and viewing defeats as mere temporary setbacks. A good example is their war on the Boy Scouts: after the Supreme Court in 2000 narrowly preserved the Scouts’ right not to permit homosexual and atheist scoutmasters, pro-“gay” leftists did not mope around in defeat but instead ramped up their attacks on the beleaguered Scouts – painting them as “bigots” and driving them off parks and other public venues.

In contrast, there is no fight left in Congressman Ryan after the demise of ‘Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell’ (he previously voted to keep the homosexual ban). Speaking just days after addressing a conservative “Values Voters” conference, Ryan said this when asked by a TV reporter about the new pro-gay military law:

“I talked to a lot of good friends of mine who are combat leaders in the theater, and they just didn’t think the timing of this was right to do this when our troops were in the middle of harm’s way in combat. Now that it’s done, we should not reverse it. I think that would be a step in the wrong direction because people have already disclosed themselves [as homosexuals].

“I think this issue is past us. It’s done. And I think we need to move on.”

Rep. Paul Ryan

AFTAH Interviews Rick Scarborough about ’40 Days to Save America’ Fasting and Prayer Campaign

Monday, September 17th, 2012

The following is an interview with Rick Scarborough, president and founder of Vision America as well as “40 Days to Save America” (www.40DaysToSaveAmerica.com) — which is leading a 40-day season of fasting and prayer leading up to Election Day, November 6. This interview was conducted September 7, 2012. Scarborough, a tireless pro-family warrior and friend of AFTAH, explains what led him to launch this initiative, which he said is gaining support rapidly among churches nationwide.  He also explains how he got involved in the “culture wars” as a Texas pastor when he learned of inappropriate sexual material being taught at a local school. We encourage people to join this campaign (it starts Sept. 28) and spread the word in their church or place of worship. Scarborough also gives his thoughts as a pastor on the unbiblical and unnatural concept of homosexual “marriage.”

Homosexual Activist Lays Out Obama’s Extensive Pro-‘Gay’ Record; AFTAH Responds

Friday, September 14th, 2012

To many liberal journalists, President Obama’s pro-homosexual policies make him “angelic.” Above is Newsweek’s magazine cover published May 21, 2012, after Obama switched his position (again) on same-sex “marriage,” this time embracing it. As a young candidate for state senate, Obama explicitly endorsed “gay marriage,” before switching to “civil unions” — the position he held while running for president in 2008.

The following is a list of the Obama administration’s “accomplishments” in support of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) political/cultural agenda, as compiled by homosexual activist and Obama ally Andrew Tobias. This list appeared in the pro-“gay” “Equality Giving” website.

President Obama is easily the most pro-homosexual, pro-transsexual president in our nation’s history (hence the Newsweek cover) – far eclipsing the sizable pro-“gay” record of the last Democrat to hold the office, Bill Clinton.  Due to the sheer volume of Obama’s homosexualist “achievements,” this sympathetic compilation is not comprehensive.

Since AFTAH is not partisan and cannot endorse candidates, we will similarly explore the LGBT record of Obama’s Republican opponent, Mitt Romney — as well as further delve into the specifics of Obama’s policies on the issue.

I have added my own comments and analysis to some items on Tobias’ list – marked in red— Peter LaBarbera, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, www.aftah.org

Tobias writes:

Accomplishments by the Administration and Congress on LGBT Equality

No one should rest until we have full LGBT equality.  But after eight years of Republican disrespect, progress is being made.  In its first term, the Obama Administration has…

FEDERAL LEGISLATION SIGNED INTO LAW

  1. Signed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which expanded existing United States federal hate crime law to include crimes motivated by a victim’s actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability — the first positive federal LGBT legislation in the nation’s history
  2. Repealed Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell
  3. Signed the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act

POLICIES CHANGED

  1. Reversed US refusal to sign the UN Declaration on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity
  2. Extended benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees in 2009 and, further, in 2010 [This is a direct violation of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) – a bipartisan act of Congress signed into law by Democratic President Bill Clinton in 1996 — which states under Section 3: “In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word ‘marriage’ means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word ‘spouse’ refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife.” On February 3, 2011, President Obama through his Attorney General, Eric Holder, announced that the administration believes Sect. 3 of DOMA to be unconstitutional and therefore would no longer defend it in court.]
  3. Lifted the HIV Entry Ban
