AFTAH Reboot Begins with Banquet and Teach-in October 20-21 Featuring Ex-Gay Stephen Black

Changed Life: Stephen Black of First Stone Ministries and Restored Hope Network once lived his life as a “gay” man [see his powerful video testimony HERE]. Now he helps others leave the homosexual lifestyle. Stephen will give four presentations on understanding homosexuality and reaching out to those trapped in sexual sin and gender confusion—in the love and truth of Jesus Christ. Full banquet details HERE. Sign up for just $25 for both days HERE.

Dear AFTAH Supporters,

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) is holding its annual banquet this Friday, Oct. 20, followed by a “Teach-in” Saturday, Oct. 21.  There will be a total of four presentations by our keynote speaker, my friend Stephen Black, a godly Christian man who came out of homosexuality and now helps others do the same.  [See his powerful video testimony HERE.]  We also have an “all-star” Q-&A panel Saturday featuring: Denise Shick, whose father told her he wanted to be a “woman” when she was a young girl; stellar writer Laurie Higgins of Illinois Family Institute; and AFA-Pennsylvania pro-family warrior Diane Gramley.

AFTAH Reboot

This year’s banquet is a little different from past ones in that it launches what is essentially AFTAH’s “reboot” as an organization.  For the last year, I have been writing full-time for LifeSiteNews.com, an excellent pro-family news site for which I will continue to write blog articles.  But my Americans For Truth work in the last year has been limited mainly to doing dozens of interviews on conservative and Christian media relating to LGBTQ issues [see HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE].  Moral-minded conservatives are big fans of AFTAH because we are direct and honest in speaking the truth about homosexual-bisexual-transgender activism, in the love and grace of Christ.

Beginning at the Friday banquet [casual dinner catered by Portillo’s], I will again be devoting my full energies to AFTAH, which I formed more than two decades ago (an offshoot of my “Lambda Report”) and has always been my first love when it comes to opposing Big Gay and its cheerleading media enablers.  (We veterans of the fight against the LGBTQueer lobby could tell Donald Trump a few things about “fake news.”)

Our website will return to doing that for which AFTAH is known (and which drives LGBT militants and the Left crazy): telling the hard truths about homosexuality and “transgenderism” that so many others—even people on our side—are often unwilling to tell.  Yes, that includes publishing disturbing (albeit boxed-out) photos of unsavory “gay” events that remind us why, for centuries, homosexuality has been regarded as deeply immoral and an unnatural perversion.

We at AFTAH are unabashedly Christian in our approach.  And we understand what many others will not admit: that this “culture war” battle has always been about the (im)morality of homosexuality, not just “marriage” or “religious freedom,” or “transgenderism”–which is joined at the hip to the homosexual revolution.  We lose when we pretend otherwise and stray from common sense and core principles out of fear of being labeled “anti-gay.”

Here’s my thought: it’s OK to be “anti-gay” (-agenda/-behavior/-ideology), as long as you love wayward people the way Jesus, who never countenanced sin, does.  People are not defined by their sinful impulses.  And it’s not “hateful” or “bigoted” to defend Judeo-Christian (biblical) morality against a movement that has declared it obsolete and seeks to banish it from the public square, leading many to destruction.  It’s real, tough love.

‘Gay’ is an ideology

“Gay”—homosexualism—is an ideology at war with God and His created design for mankind.  Have you noticed that even many conservatives who feel free to criticize the lunacy of transsexual (“gender”) ideology have largely capitulated on the “gay” issue?  Not us, and for the record, unlike so many, even conservative media like Daily Caller, we will never kowtow to the DNA-denying LGBTQ “Pronoun Police” by referring to Bruce (“Caitlyn”) Jenner or any other biological male as “she” (or a biological female as “he”).  Ain’t happening.

AFTAH also will engage in strategic, proactive actions to fight back against the Sin Movement that calls itself “gay” (and “bi” and “trans”)—because merely “reporting” all the bad news from our culture tends to beat good people down.  We need creative strategies to wake up, inspire and motivate faithful Americans to move beyond griping and apathy.  We also need a little humor as Happy Warriors defending God’s unchanging Truth, fighting the good fight against the freedom-crushing, children-corrupting juggernaut of “LGBTQ rights.”

Always on Defense?

But most importantly, we need to get away from the “always on defense” mentality that has led the “pro-family” movement to get—I’ll just say it—crushed on LGBTQ issues, even as the pro-life movement prospers.  And I’m going to say this, too: we need to re-stigmatize homosexual behavior in the culture, which makes sense only if you understand that homosexuality has NEVER been about “who you are” but rather “what you do.”  Changeable behavior, not inborn identity.

The plan of Hollywood and media LGBTQ propagandists has always been to get Americans to see homosexuality not as a deviant, sinful BEHAVIOR but as a normal, harmless variant of life. And their plan worked to devastating effect in our culture.

Now we must work to “deprogram” the brainwashed, dumbed-down masses by speaking the full truth, clearly and unapologetically.

Please forgive me for the lack of communication over the last several months, and the slowdown of our website (AFTAH.org).  We are back.  There has NEVER been a time when Americans For Truth and principled organizations like us has been more needed—especially with the rise of “conservative gays” and “Christian gays” who compromise the Right and threaten the integrity of Christianity itself.

As I’ve said many times, it’s not as if God condemns homosexuality as an abomination only for Democrats!  There is no “gay Republican” exception.  The GOP is in great peril if it continues down the road of trying to accommodate sexual perversion in the name of “civil rights,” “equality” and the “big tent.”

Partnering with principled allies

I cannot reveal details now, but there are also plans in the works for AFTAH to partner with another principled, pro-family organization in the future.  Stay tuned.

I want to say a big Thank You to so many good people like you who have supported AFTAH over the years and who have refused to buckle to political correctness on these issues.  I applaud you for not taking the easy road of apathy or embracing trendy groupthink that dresses up sex-and-gender deviancy as “rights” and “progress” in direct repudiation of nature and God’s timeless Biblical truth.

Remember: we are right, they are wrong, and God’s Truth is always worth defending.

Saying “gays” cannot change is a slap in the face to overcomers like Stephen Black, but worse: it is a grave insult to our Lord Jesus Christ, who is in the business of changing lives! (2 Corinthians 5)  Please tell as many people as you can about the AFTAH banquet and Teach-in this Friday-Saturday, Oct. 20-21; full details HERE.  (Students can come free of charge.)  I hope to see some of you there!  God bless you and your family.

Sincerely in Christ,

Peter LaBarbera
