CHICAGO — Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH.org), issued the following statement today about potential Democratic presidential candidate and former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s recent comments about God, homosexuality and Vice President Pence:
Mayor Pete Buttigieg is a living, walking and breathing example of the politicized sham that is religious-left “Christianity” today. He claims that God created him as a homosexual—a self-serving blasphemy as audacious as it is biblically nonsensical. (And science has refuted his “born gay” crutch.)
Buttigieg quotes Scripture even as he defies it with his very public, and very fake, “marriage” to another man (See in the Bible: Matthew 19:4-6; Romans 1: 24-27; Jude 7; 1 Timothy 1:8-10; Leviticus 18:22). (Redefining marriage to accommodate sexual perversion is beyond the Supreme Court’s pay grade.)
Predictably, “Mayor Pete” has quickly become the darling of a media who incessantly promote all things “gay” and “trans”—and who loathe socially conservative Christians who actually believe the Bible in humility, and fear God in reverence.
The simple truth is that homosexual behaviors are wrong, unnatural, and often unhealthy—yet can be overcome through the grace and power of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6), as testified by countless ex-“gays” and former “transgenders.” No faithful Christian proudly identifies by his or her besetting sins, nor seeks to justify them before a holy God.
Vice President Mike Pence—a favorite target of Buttigieg and self-righteous LGBTQ political bullies—has been intimidated into silence, but he would do well to respond to the absurdities that flow out of Mayor Pete’s lips on a daily basis. Buttigieg claims that Pence has a “quarrel … with my Creator” because he opposes the aggressively anti-freedom, anti-Christian LGBTQ agenda. But it is Buttigieg himself who is defiantly living out his own quarrel with God every time he proudly celebrates his sexual sin and, worse, uses God to justify it—man’s ultimate folly.
Christians should pray that Pete Buttigieg repents of his proud homosexuality and dedicates himself to serving Christ in Truth—rather than mocking Him for political gain.
Folks, this is the debut episode of our new daily AFTAH webcast, “Americans For Truth Live.” It will air live Monday through Friday at noon Central Time (1:00 PM Eastern, 10:00 AM Pacific, 11:00 AM Mountain) right here on the AFTAH website. As you can see, we are still ironing out some wrinkles in the show, but I am super excited about it.
Americans For Truth Live will feature tons of hard-hitting, politically INcorrect analysis and interviews with some of the leading front-line happy warriors fighting Big LGBTQ, in America and across the globe. There will be more than a little laughter, and lots of God’s honest Truth. This video explains how AFTAH and our message is different: we’re hopping off the “Always on Defense” pro-family train, and are not afraid to speak tough truths, even if that means criticizing the Republican Party or (brace yourself!) Fox News.
Please spread the word about this new webcast. Share it everywhere. Tell your family and friends. Join the counter-revolution against the reckless Sexual and Gender-Rebelling Left–you know, the LGBTQueer activists and their “progressive” allies who think we all should celebrate an 11-year-old boy who identifies as a “drag kid” and performs at “gay” bars where men throw dollar bills at him.
Send me your feedback at americansfortruth@gmail.com, and please pray for and support this show if you are able [donate safely online HERE] so we can begin setting men and woman to freely and aggressively defend Truth against the secular-Left lies all around us. Because it’s God’s Truth to defend, not ours. God bless. –– Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH; @PeterLaBarbera
UPDATE: After receiving considerable criticism, Azusa-Pacific U. in late September reversed course and reinstated its ban on LGBTQ (homosexual) relationships. We commend the Board of Directors for correcting this unbiblical error: https://zunews.com/2018/09/azusa-pacific-reinstates-ban-lgbtq-relationships/

ORIGINAL AFTAH POST 9-28-18:
Below is the link to my Sept. 27, 2018 interview with Christian talk radio show Janet Mefferd. Or you can go to the program’s SoundCloud link HERE. We discussed the shocking capitulation by Azusa Pacific University to the emerging “gay Christian” agenda. Yes, it’s a political and ideological agenda, not a mere theological disagreement within Christendom.
There is zero, no, nada justification in the Bible for recognizing and affirming “sexual minorities” within the Church based on sinful inclinations or behavior. If there were, why stop at those tempted by homosexual sin?
That said, of course we reach out in love to repentant sexual strugglers, homosexual and otherwise, but that is a far cry from celebrating “LGBTQ pride,” or affirming unnatural “gay,” bi, trans, “pansexual” or [__INSERT YOUR PET PERVERSION HERE__] identities in God’s name. That is folly and dishonors Christ.
I take my hat off to Janet Mefferd for leading Christian media efforts to expose and confront the campaign–far more advanced than most evangelicals realize–to “homosexualize” the Christian Church. — Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH; Twitter: @PeterLaBarbera
“The gay movement is trying to ban homosexuals from getting help so they can turn toward heterosexuality.”–Robert Oscar Lopez
Folks, Robert Oscar Lopez is a brilliant and original thinker who is unafraid to go where many other Christians and conservatives will not, taking on emerging “political correctness” on homosexuality within the Body of Christ. Here Lopez deals with Christian leaders who condemn ex-“gay” therapy (he uses “conversion therapy,” a term we avoid since it has been politicized by Big LGBTQ), and the bad effect this has on homosexual strugglers who truly want to “pursue intimacy with the opposite sex.” Which is to say: they do not want to retain any kind of same-sex identity, the maintenance of which, as supposed “gay Christians,” is all the rage these days in some Christian circles (see the “Revoice” controversy). Visit Lopez’s blog, English Manif, and keep coming back; you will not be disappointed. — Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH.org; Twitter: @PeterLaBarbera

Christians Who Oppose Conversion Therapy Need a Reality Check
To be loving does not mean to be gullible. Jesus Christ mentions that we will come across dishonest people, especially among those who have prestige (or are seeking it). We should love people, but that does not mean we should let them take advantage of us. Or fool us. Or trick us.
In that spirit, I want Rosaria Butterfield, Sam Allberry, and Jackie Hill Perry to answer a simple yes-or-no question. No long filibustering paragraphs. No detours into extensive complaints about what other Christians are supposedly doing. No lifeline block-quotes from Augustine. Just yes or no. Here:
Here’s why this question is urgent. Butterfield, Allberry, and Perry are currently superstars in the world of Protestant Christianity, constantly summoned to discuss issues of sexuality in the church. They all had experience with same-sex attraction. They all say they believe in Christ.
And they all attack conversion therapy. According to her profile on Alchetron, Rosaria Butterfield believes the following:
She does not identify herself as “ex-gay” and does not think any Christians should identify themselves as “gay Christians.” She notes that “[t]he job of the adjective is to change the noun.” Butterfield has criticized conversion therapy for contending that the “primary goal of Christianity is to resolve homosexuality through heterosexuality, thus failing to see that repentance and victory over sin are God’s gifts and failing to remember that sons and daughters of the King can be full members of Christ’s body and still struggle with sexual temptation.” Butterfield suggests this is a version of the prosperity gospel.
Facebook puts Bible-and-homosexuality scholar in “jail” after post critical of conference recognizing homosexuals as “sexual minority”
Robert Gagnon
Folks, my friend Robert Gagnon, the world’s foremost authority on the Bible and homosexuality, last week penned this critique of the Revoice conference going on right now in St. Louis. Revoice aims to recognize and celebrate LGBTQ-identified celibate Christians as a “sexual minority” in the Church. It has been widely challenged by orthodox Christians for undermining Scriptural truth; see this article on Revoice’s speakers.
After publishing his piece on Facebook, Gagnon was was put in “Facebook jail” for 24 hours–the second time this has happened to him in recent weeks. That’s very troubling, as is the fact I and several other Christians were BANNED from attending Revoice after we were “checked out” by organizers.
Gagnon wrote in an email:
“I have been blocked again for 24 hours from Facebook, with a warning that the next time I am blocked it will be for 3 days. They blocked me for a mild post expressing concern about the upcoming Revoice Conference (pasted below). Could the Revoice people have complained about me?…”
We will be following this story very closely, as I share the belief of others that Revoice is the LGBTQ activist camel’s nose under the tent of the evangelical Christian church. — Peter LaBarbera, Americans For Truth; Twitter: @PeterLaBarbera

Concerns with the upcoming Revoice Conference and Spiritual Friendship Folk
By Robert A. J. Gagnon
While I am glad for the fact that persons at the upcoming Revoice Conference (July 26-28, St. Louis, in a PCA venue) and those who align with the “Spiritual Friendship” program want to refrain from engaging in same-sex intercourse and thereby uphold this part of the orthodox witness, I have seven consequential concerns about their views.
1. Inadequate engagement with the need for “renewal of the mind” as regards homosexual desires. Is there any asking of: “What is the false narrative that gives these impulses particular strength? Why am I viewing a person of the same sex as a sexual complement or counterpart to my own sex? Why am I aroused by the distinctive sexual features of my own sex, by what I already have? Am I thinking of myself as only half of my own sex? What kind of strategies for renewing my mind can I use to counter this false narrative beyond ‘washed and waiting’?” Instead, the benefits of a generalized “gay” perspective (minus the sex) are celebrated or lifted up. Even if one’s attractions may not change with such an evaluation, they can be disempowered by exposing the lie that lies behind attempts to gratify same-sex desire or (for “transgenders,” so-called) to deny one’s biological sex altogether. There is more to be addressed here than refraining from homosexual sex.
Folks, here is Rev. Grace Harley’s speech at AFTAH’s June 26 “Repeal Obergefell” press event in front of the Supreme Court, to mark the three-year anniversary of the judicial travesty of the Obergefell “gay marriage” decision. Every day I am confronted by LGBTQ activists who insist that “sexual orientation” cannot be changed. And yet my friend Grace testifies to the opposite–saying [go to 4:25] that she hasn’t had a lustful sexual thought about women since her Christian conversion 26 years ago. Grace, like all of us, cannot change her skin color but she praises the Lord that through His grace and power she radically changed her sexual thoughts and disordered “transgender” lifestyle. (Her reference to the “MCC” is for the Metropolitan Community Church, a “gay activist” church catering to unrepentant homosexuals.)
This video was shot by Cliff Kincaid of America’s Survival; note that I’m a contributor to the new AS book advertised in the video, “Permanent Revolution: The Secret Life and Legacy of Barack Hussein Obama”; my chapter is on the bizarre childhood and potential homosexual background of Obama, and his deceptive flip-flop to help usher in “gay marriage” in the United States. — Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH; @PeterLaBarbera
Ex-“gay” leader Stephen Black also booted from Revoice conference that affirms celibate homosexuals as “sexual minority” in the Church
Limiting Dissent? Letter from Revoice founder Nate Collins to AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera. Click to enlarge.
Dear AFTAH Readers,
Over the many years I’ve been booted out of various “gay” activist conferences–though I’ve never sought to disrupt them–but never from a self-styled “Christian” conference. Yet that’s what happened June 17 when I received the following email note (see graphic at right) from Nate Collins, founder of “Revoice,” a new movement that seeks to reconcile the recognition of LGBT “identities” with faithful Christianity:
nate@revoice.us
From: nate@revoice.us [Nate Collins, Revoice]
To: me [Peter LaBarbera]
Date: [June 17, 2018]
Dear Mr. LaBarbera,
Based on publicly available information, we believe that your presence at the inaugural Revoice conference would work against the stated mission and purpose of Revoice. We are refunding your registration fee in full, and would be happy to answer any further questions you might have.
Grace and peace,
Nate Collins, PhD
President and Founder of Revoice
Author of All But Invisible
Revoice defines celibate LGBT-identified Christians as a “sexual minority” (more on that later). Its mission for the debut July 26-28 conference is: “Supporting, encouraging, and empowering gay, lesbian, same-sex-attracted, and other LGBT Christians so they can flourish while observing the historic, Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality.”
I emailed the following email letter June 18 responding to Collins. At presstime (June 23), I had received no response back, despite Collins’ statement that he would be “happy to answer any further questions you might have.”
From: Americans For Truth [Peter LaBarbera]
To: nate@revoice.us
Date: June 18, 2018
Dear Dr. Collins (is it OK if I call you Nate?),
I am troubled by your decision, although it is not unexpected. Though of course I am on the more “orthodox” (conservative) side of things surrounding this debate, I was deeply interested and intellectually curious about your conference, and was looking forward to attending. I had no plans to disrupt it in any way but wanted to learn more. I think banning a smattering of “dissenting” voices (on the Right) at the outset is a bad idea, hurts your credibility among Christians and the wider public, and encourages the suspicion among critics that yours is an ideological (“pro-gay”), rather than a spiritually faithful, endeavor. So I hope you reconsider, and I would like to keep the lines of communication open. You can call me at [312-324-3787].
For the record, if yours was billed as an explicitly “gay activist” or “gay advocacy” event, I could better understand your expelling conservative critics (it has happened to me at various LGBT events), but that is not how you define Revoice. You say it is a “Christian” enterprise, yet you are keeping Christians who defend age-old biblical teaching against homosexuality out, which seems problematic.
Along those lines, I do have some questions regarding access to Revoice:
1) Will you allow LGBTQ activists to attend Revoice who do NOT share your belief against acting out homosexually (e.g., religious activists with groups like Human Rights Campaign)? Have any registered to attend?
Don’t be misled into thinking that this bill bans only professional counselors from trying to alter same-sex attractions. It goes well beyond that.
Robert Gagnon. For more pro-family (and pro-freedom) resources on AB 2943, go HERE. Also see SaveCalifornia.com. See Gagnon’s excellent website at RobGagnon.net.
The biggest effort at book-banning, the banning of counseling services and church conferences, the banning of academic courses, and a general banning of free speech in the history of the United States is well underway in California. This is reminiscent of when Southern states in the pre-Civil War era banned any literature suggesting that slavery might not be a good thing; what we are fighting now is slavery to same-sex attractions and gender dysphoria.
The bill in question is California Assembly Bill 2943. It would treat as a criminal violation of the state’s consumer fraud act “the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer” that consists of “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.” Don’t be misled into thinking that this bill bans only professional counselors from trying to alter same-sex attractions. It goes well beyond that.
“Orientation change” can be as innocuous as stating at a paid conference that homosexual and transgender desire can be overcome (not necessarily eliminated) by the Spirit of Jesus. Or even complying with an attendee’s request for prayer that the Spirit of God empower the attendee not to succumb to the power of same-sex attractions.
That’s not all. More than “orientation change” is at issue, for the bill expressly states:
‘Sexual orientation change efforts’ means any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.
Did you catch the part that says: “This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions,” not just orientation change? You cannot treat homosexual expression or transgenderism as the product of disordered desires.
