Staver Commends Trump Memo on Qualified Military Transgender Ban

Tuesday, March 27th, 2018

Media: All Trans, All the Time: The dominant secular media have pushed the “transgender” agenda relentlessly in recent years, as illustrated by this 2014 TIME magazine story celebrating the alleged cultural “Transgender Tipping Point.” Pictured on the cover is biological male and “Orange Is the New Black” star Laverne Cox, who claims to be a woman and who crusades for “trans rights.” Click to enlarge.

The following news release was sent out by the pro-family legal group Liberty Counsel March 26, 2018:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump issued a new memorandum last Friday disqualifying “transgender” individuals from serving in the military, stating that the Defense secretary and the Homeland Security secretary should “exercise their authority to implement any appropriate policies concerning military service by transgender individuals.”

The memorandum said individuals with a history of gender dysphoria, defined as “those who may require substantial medical treatment, including through medical drugs or surgery,” are disqualified from military service “except under certain limited circumstances.” Those who are currently in the United States military may remain in the ranks, but the Pentagon could require them to serve according to their gender at birth.

In a memo to the president, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis cited “substantial risks” about military personnel who seek to change or who question their gender identity. He found that individuals with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria presented a risk to military effectiveness and “could undermine readiness, disrupt unit cohesion, and impose an unreasonable burden on the military that is not conducive to military effectiveness and lethality.” This new policy will enable the military to apply well-established mental and physical health standards—including those regarding the use of medical drugs—equally to all individuals who want to join and fight for the best military force the world has ever seen.

Mattis suggested three exceptions:

  1. If a person diagnosed with gender dysphoria can demonstrate a period of at least 36 months where they no longer suffer from the psychological condition;
  2. Those diagnosed with gender dysphoria who do not seek to “transition” (receive hormone drugs and undergo plastic and other surgery), and are deployable, may also serve; and
  3. Those who have already been serving prior to the effective date of the new policy will not be discharged.

Two U.S. district courts, one in the District of Columbia and one in Maryland, previously blocked enforcement of President Trump’s proposed August 2017 ban on “transgender” persons in the armed services. According to the Defense Department, those courts required the branches to begin allowing such recruits to sign up for military service. A third order by a U.S. District judge also allowed the state to challenge the ban, stating that Washington has an interest in protecting its residents from discrimination.

AFTAH in the News

On Tuesday (July 18, 2017), I was a guest on VCY America’s “Crosstalk,” with my friend and host Jim Schneider (who always does an excellent job) [Click HERE to listen.] It was a great program; Crosstalk’s description of it follows (I have added some links). ?This edition of Crosstalk began with an update concerning baby Charlie Gard. An American doctor, who previously testified that Charlie’s chances of improvement are up to 50%, is examining him.

The judge is allowing for this examination and then he’ll allow up to a week in making a decision.

Also, Charlie has received a government appointed lawyer who supposedly is speaking for Charlie in the courts. The problem is that this lawyer is the chairman for Compassion in Dying, an end-of-life advocacy group with a sister organization that supports assisted suicide.

Jim indicated that he commends the Trump administration for putting on hold the recruitment of people who desire to identify in a way that’s contrary to their biological sex. That policy was set to take effect July 1st but has been postponed to January 1st. However, those in the military who wish to identify as transgender are being allowed to do so. Peter feels it’s ridiculous that under President Trump we’re not shelving this radical experiment.

According to Peter, there’s radical pro-transgender training which is telling even women that they need to get used to and accept (in the name of non-discrimination) the idea that there will be biological males in the same shower facilities, barracks and restrooms with them.

Jim noted that what’s even more disturbing is that now when a vote has come before Congress to put a stop to things like this, they have refused to do so. For example, he mentioned how the Republican led U.S. Congress had an opportunity to ban taxpayer funding for sex change surgeries for military personnel. They blocked a ban on such operations which means they kept the Obama era policy intact and put taxpayers on the hook for those in the military who are gender confused.

Transsexual Body Mutilation (‘Sex-Change’) Surgeries Will Cost Military Millions – AFTAH in the News

Tuesday, October 4th, 2016

Taxpayer-funded transsexual body mutilations are not “health care,” LaBarbera tells LifeSiteNews

This is a woman who had her healthy breasts surgically removed to appear like the "man" she wants to be. The homosexual-transgender lobby is advocating such body-mutilating surgeries even for minors--and at taxpayers' expense through the military and government-subsidized health care.

Transgender sex-change ‘treatment’ will cost the military millions a year: report

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 3, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) — Starting October 3, the U.S. federal government will use tax dollars to pay for soldiers’ sex changes — at a cost of up to $8.4 million per year.

A Pentagon-commissioned study by the RAND (Douglas Aircraft’s “Research and Development”) Corporation concluded that there could be 1,320 to 6,630 soldiers who consider themselves transgender and estimated that up to 140 want to chemically alter their gender, plus another 130 want sex-change operations.

To be eligible for a government-paid sex change operation, the Defense Department says a soldier’s ability to serve must be “hindered” in some way by their gender identity.

Defense Department spokesman Air Force Maj. Ben Sakrisson said healthcare for soldiers will now, as of October 3, cover such “treatments.”

Critics of tax-funded sex-change surgery note that battle-readiness is diminished after the surgeries, which RAND explained require 21 days of medical leave plus at least 90 days medical disability. Even more recovery time is needed for men to undergo the sex change to a woman, making a soldier non-deployable for at least 135 days.

RAND also acknowledged that in some cases complications from elective genital surgery might make a soldier unfit for duty permanently, as up to 20 percent of men undergoing “vaginoplasty” have serious complications.

“This isn’t ‘healthcare,'” Americans for Truth Peter LaBarbera told LifeSiteNews. “This is forcing American taxpayers to subsidize Obama’s madness of gender-confused people mutilating their God-given bodies to fulfill some fantasy of living as the opposite sex.”

“Where are the Republicans to put a stop to this — or at least draw some attention to it with Congressional hearings?” LaBarbera asked. “No wonder Obama has succeeded at radically ‘transforming’ society and dishonoring our military.”

“I think this is a gross misuse of military medical dollars that should be used to make our military forces deployable or to help those who are wounded or injured while they are deployed,” Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty executive director and veteran Ron Crews commented to USA Today.
