Homosexual Partner of Stachowicz Murderer Says She Did NOT Harrass Them

Excerpted from Man Testifies He Saw Blood on Defendant, published Oct 29, 2006, by Chicago Tribune:

The [homosexual] partner of a man on trial in the 2002 slaying of a woman who worked at a Northwest Side funeral home testified Friday that he noticed blood on his partner and that the man had extra cash after the attack allegedly occurred.

Raymond Scacchitti, 42, testified in the trial of Nicholas Gutierrez, 23, charged in the Nov. 13, 2002, slaying of Mary Stachowicz, 51.

The two men, who also worked at the F.J. Sikorski Funeral Home, lived in an apartment above the business where Stachowicz’s body was found in a crawl space.

Scacchitti said Stachowicz knew he and Gutierrez were gay and never questioned them about their lifestyle.

Gutierrez’s public defenders, who do not deny Gutierrez killed Stachowicz, said she instigated the attack by deriding him for being gay.
