URGENT: Stop the Anti-Christian Left from Taking Down Dr. James Holsinger for U.S. Surgeon General

The leftist National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is attacking Surgeon General nominee Dr. James Holsinger’s because the church he founded believes in helping “gays” leave the homosexual lifestyle.

The pro-homosexuality Left is working hard to take down another good Christian man — this time it’s Dr. James Holsinger, President Bush’s nominee for U.S. Surgeon General.  Holsinger’s first confirmation hurdle is tomorrow, July 12th, when he appears before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee.  Enclosed is the text of an “Action Alert” from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) — a far-left organization that promotes a reckless “sexual freedom” agenda harmful to youth. Some helpful background links:

• Americans For Truth’s original story on Dr. Holsinger — the ugly attacks against him have only escalated since;
• Dr. Holsinger’s 1991 paper describing the serious health risks of male homosexuality (MUST READ);
• AFTAH’s shocking undercover report on last year’s NGLTF “Creating Change” conference in Kansas City (with enemies like this, the good doctor must be doing something right!)

TAKE ACTION:  Please do the opposite of the the homosexual “Task Force” says below and voice your support for Dr. Holsinger.  Call the Congressional Switchboard tomorrow morning at 202-224-3121 or go to www.congress.org and e-mail both of your U.S. Senators — especially if they are on the Senate HELP Committee (see list at bottom).  Ask them to use their influence to:

• Defend Dr. Holsinger’s right to receive a fair hearing and a vote by the full Senate on his confirmation (a  veteran Capitol Hill source told us that nominees are rarely rejected by committee); and
• Speak out against the un-American idea of PUNISHING a nominee for government service because he or she is a committed Christian.

Lastly, send an e-mail to or call (202-224-5754) Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) — a medical doctor and respected pro-family advocate who sits on the Senate HELP Committee. Ask Sen. Coburn to represent the vast majority of Americans who do not want to see Dr. Holsinger get “Borked” simply for being a faithful Christian, or because of the church he belongs to. 
 
 
Bigoted ‘Gay’ Lobby Targets Holsinger’s Church
 
Note the anti-Christian prejudice underlying this paragraph from the homosexual Task Force’s “Alert”:

“Holsinger’s past writings and actions seriously call into question his ability to address the health needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. In his 1991 paper titled “Pathophysiology of Male Homosexuality,” [no link provided in original] he uses misrepresentative research and manipulates medical studies to describe a biased view of homosexual behavior as dangerous, lewd and unnatural. He is also a founder of the Hope Springs Community Church, which provided ex-gay ministry service to “convert” people to heterosexuality.”

Horrors.  Dr. James Holsinger is a Bible-believing Christian who knows that homosexuals — like all sinners — can leave their errant ways behind through the power of Jesus Christ.  For the pro-“gay” Secular Left, I suppose that disqualifies him from public service.
 
Also note that in its original alert, the Task Force did NOT supply a link to the supposedly controversial 1991 paper authored by Dr. Holsinger: “Pathophysiology of Male Homosexuality.”  (We added the link.)  How strange.  If the paper is really that bad, wouldn’t the homosexual lobby want the whole world to see it?

Truth is, the homosexual lobby is “deathly” afraid of the public being educated about:

1)  the tremendous health and lifestyle risks of homosexual behaviors; and

2)  the fact that thousands of former “gays” and “lesbians” have left their old homosexual lifestyle behind and now live contented lives in line with God’s Word and His natural created order.

Senate committee hearing is set for Thursday, July 12 — call your senator today!

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee will hold a hearing tomorrow, July 12, on President Bush’s highly controversial surgeon general nominee, Dr. James Holsinger. The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Inc., opposes the nomination of Holsinger to become our nation’s top doctor, and we urge you to contact your senator immediately to ask them to oppose this nomination.

Former Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona’s profoundly disturbing testimony yesterday before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee underscores why Holsinger has been nominated to succeed him: The Bush administration not only expects but demands that right-wing ideology and partisan politics triumph over science and they know Holsinger will compliantly deliver.

Holsinger’s past writings and actions seriously call into question his ability to address the health needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. We believe that all health care professionals, especially our surgeon general, must rely on current and well-researched medical information, and remain impartial when educating Americans on medical issues.
