LISTEN: AFTAH’s Peter LaBarbera & John Kirkwood Discuss Christianity versus Homosexuality, Democrats versus Republicans on ‘Gay Marriage’

Monday, September 10th, 2012

Why is Alan Chambers apologizing — to unrepentant homosexuals — for Exodus International’s past slogan, “Change is possible”?

In this broadcast [click HERE to listen], recorded September 6, 2012, AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and co-host John Kirkwood discuss several issues in the news surrounding the homosexual issue, including:

  • Exodus International president Alan Chambers’ embrace of “gay”-affirming Christianity and his appearance before the “Gay Christian Network” (at which Chambers apologized for Exodus’ former slogan, “Change Is Possible”);
  • An excellent response by Kirkwood to LaBarbera’s question: “Is ‘sexual orientation’ in the Bible?”;
  • Commentary on Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias’ compelling answer at an open forum to the question, “Is it possible for a man or a woman to live a sincere Christian life as a homosexual?”;
  • The Democrat Party versus the Republican Party platforms on homosexuality — and especially the Democrats’ formal embrace of homosexual “marriage”;
  • Sen. Dick Durbin’s (D-IL)’s overzealous response to FOX interviewer Brett Baier’s question about why the Democrats would remove the word “God” from their 2012 Party Platform (it was later restored in a controversial floor voice vote [listen at about 46:00 on the program]). Durbin asserts that “both parties are God-fearing parties”;
  • The growing push within GOP circles — including this article on conservative icon Glenn Beck’s website The Blaze — to advance homosexual “marriage.”

VIDEO: Exodus International President Alan Chambers Apologizes to ‘Gay Christian Network’

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

UPDATE: Gay militant smears AFTAH, again: Shortly after we posted the article and video below about Exodus International’s tragic embrace of “gay Christianity,”  AFTAH founder Peter LaBarbera was attacked by notorious homosexual militant Wayne Besen (who came up with the hateful smear “Porno Pete”): see Besen’s lie-filled “report” here: http://www.truthwinsout.org/blog/2012/09/29105/

Words cannot express my disappointment in Exodus International President Alan Chambers’ “exodus” from biblical truth on homosexuality. This 17-minute video of Chambers addressing a pro-homosexual, ostensibly “Christian” group (Gay Christian Network) aptly sums up his tragic defection. [For a rebuttal, see Prof. Rob Gagnon’s paper, “Time for a Leadership Change at Exodus?] Poor Alan is way beyond his pay grade here: imagine heading up an “ex-gay” umbrella group — which is how Exodus once described itself — and apologizing to unrepentant homosexuals for the simple slogan “Change is possible.” Shame. Substitute another sexual sin (say, pornography) for homosexuality (“sexual orientation”) — and Chambers’ “apology” makes no sense at all. (For that matter, would anyone take a “Porn-using Christians Network”–or a “Christian Lusters Network”–seriously and “dialogue” with them?)

Sad but true: these days when Christians “dialogue” with homosexual activists, as Chambers often does, it is usually the Christians who bend toward the world (sin) rather than vice versa. Stay tuned for more on this stunning story of Exodus’ and Chambers’ break with historic Christian teaching on homosexuality. — Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH

This video was produced by Oklahoma City-based First Stone Ministries, led by our friend and former homosexual Stephen Black. First Stone recently broke away from Exodus International and is now part of a new, biblically-faithful umbrella group for sexual struggers, Restored Hope Network. New Ex-‘Gay’ Group, Restored Hope Network, Formed as Christian Alternative to Exodus International

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

Americans For Truth is excited to hear about the formation of this Christian “ex-gay” alternative to Exodus International, which has lost the trust of many pro-family advocates and Christian leaders due to the perceived unbiblical and erroneous statements by Exodus leader Alan Chambers. See this paper by Bible-and-homosexuality expert and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary Prof. Robert Gagnon as the best critique of Chambers’ liberal tilt. Also see former homosexual DL Foster’s blog, Gay Christian Movement Watch. We will have more on the Exodus and Chambers controversy in future posts.  — Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH

Announcing the Formation of Restored Hope Network and Its First Annual Conference

Contact: David Foster,  615-507-4166

FRANKLIN, Tenn., Aug. 23, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ — Restored Hope Network (RHN) has recently been formed by leaders from throughout North America who seek to minister to homosexuals and other sexually broken individuals according to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. We seek to be honest about the need for repentance in the life of believer and nonbeliever alike and we seek to communicate the many ways that God brings about real and lasting change in the life of anyone who turns to Him and allows Him to take them through a life-transforming process.

One of RHN’s founding leaders is Frank Worthen, who was the key figure in the founding of Exodus International in 1973. Of this new network, Frank writes:

“I am feeling inexpressible joy that the Lord has brought together a group of people who will not allow the message of hope and change to die in a sea of misguided social/cultural relevance. Restored Hope Network will now carry the torch of freedom from the sin and degradation of homosexuality and the transforming power of Jesus Christ.”

Restored Hope Network will be holding its inaugural conference this coming September 21 & 22 at Sunrise Community Church in Fair Oaks, CA (Sacramento area). Speakers will include Frank Worthen, Andy Comiskey (Desert Stream Ministries), Dr. Robert Gagnon (Pittsburgh Theological Seminary) and others.

Mission Statement for “Restored Hope Network”: Restored Hope is a membership governed network dedicated to restoring hope to those broken by sexual and relational sin, especially those impacted by homosexuality. We proclaim that Jesus Christ has life-changing power for all who submit to Christ as Lord; we also seek to equip His church to impart that transformation.

Matt Barber on SPLC and FRC Shooting: Fanning the Flames of Left-Wing Violence

Demands SPLC end ‘hate group’ list in wake of FRC shooting; chides media for echoing SPLC smear

Family Research Council hero Leo Johnson likely prevented a bloodbath by subduing apparent “gay” activist Floyd Corkins, who shot him in the arm. Johnson is recovering from the gunshot wound.

This column first appeared in WND August 17, 2012By Matt Barber

To borrow from President Obama’s Black Nationalist mentor, Jeremiah Wright, the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate-baiting chickens “have come home to roost.” The hard-left group has become everything it presumes to expose.

On Wednesday, homosexual activist Floyd Corkins entered the Washington-based Family Research Council (FRC) armed with a gun and a backpack full of ammunition. He also had 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches (FRC recently defended the food chain’s COO Dan Cathy for pro-natural marriage statements).

The only thing standing between Corkins and mass murder was FRC facilities manager and security specialist Leo Johnson. As Corkins shouted disapproval for FRC’s “politics,” he shot Johnson who, despite a severely wounded arm, managed to tackle Corkins and disarm him (of course, this is all impossible as it’s illegal in Washington, D.C., to carry a concealed weapon).

Of Johnson’s actions, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said, “The security guard here is a hero, as far as I’m concerned.”

I agree.

Upon hearing of Leo’s selfless act of heroism, I was reminded of John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”

But according to the SPLC, Leo’s heart is, instead, full of hate. In fact, everyone at FRC is hateful. After all, in 2010 the SPLC, with much fanfare, “officially certified” FRC as a “hate group” for its orthodox Christian positions on marriage and family.

Alongside violence-charged photos of actual hate groups like the Aryan Brotherhood and the KKK, the SPLC lists on its website the decidedly mainstream and always peaceful FRC. [Editors Note: Americans For Truth About Homosexuality is also listed on the SPLC’s spurious “hate map.”]

VIDEO: SPLC ‘Gives License’ for Anti-Christian Hate Violence, Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins Tells FOX News

Saturday, August 18th, 2012

The following is Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins’ appearance on FOX News’ “America Live with Megyn Kelly” (August 16, 2012). Perkins correctly states that the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) agenda with regard to pro-family groups like FRC that oppose the homosexualist agenda is to marginalize these organizations. AFTAH, American Family Association, Mission America and a host of other pro-family organizations have been similarly smeared as “hate groups” by the SPLC:

AFTAH Interviews Professor Rena Lindevaldsen on DOMA, Openly Homosexual Judges – Part Two

Friday, July 27th, 2012

This is Part Two of our (second) in-depth interview with Prof. Rena Lindevaldsen [click HERE to listen], a professor at Liberty University School of Law and Associate Dean of the Liberty Center for Law and Policy. This interview was recorded July 26, 2012. AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and co-host John Kirkwood discuss with Lindevaldsen the liberal metamorphosis of American law from being used to promote virtue to its present use to promote vice (including homosexuality). There is further discussion from last week’s interview of the implications of an openly homosexual judge, Sophia Hall, presiding over case involving 25 homosexual couples challenging Illinois’ law defining marriage as it is: between a man and a woman. Lindevaldsen reiterates that Judge Hall has a clear conflict of interest and should recuse herself from the case.

There is also a brief discussion of Sally Ride, the first female astronaut, whose passing away prompted some homosexual activists to stress that she was a lesbian. LaBarbera speculates that there will be an effort to teach about Ride as a homosexual “hero” in future “Gay History Month” celebrations — including in schools. He said that while Ride’s groundbreaking achievements have earned her a place in history, her homosexuality should not be lauded nor made the focus of her life story. See Part One of AFTAH’s interview with Prof. Lindevaldsen HERE.

How to Contact Chick-fil-A to Support their Defense of Traditional Marriage and Biblical Values

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

Dan Cathy, COO of Chick-fil-A, is under fire from the Left and homosexual activists for standing up for the God-ordained family and marriage.

Folks, it seems that the United States of America is now almost completely upside-down, morally-speaking.  We are living out Isaiah 5:20: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil.”  Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy non-apologetically defends the Christian traditional family values and immediately becomes the target of a vast, left-wing, pro-homosexual network of LGBT lobby groups and fellow travelers like Lisa Henson, widow of Muppets’ creator Jim Henson.  (Actually, the pro-homosexual movement has been targeting Chick-fil-A for quite some time now, and has succeeded in getting some restaurants booted off liberal college campuses, according to the corporate representative with whom I spoke.)

AFTAH in the News: See the WorldNetDaily (WND) article reprinted below featuring Americans For Truth, and please join with me in supporting this genuinely pro-Christian corporation that seeks to honor the Lord! — Peter LaBarbera, www.AFTAH.org

TAKE ACTION TODAY: Thank Mr. Cathy and Chick-fil-A (404-765-8000) for defending marriage as God intended it, and for standing up for biblical, Christian values.  Here is their online Contact Form: http://www.chick-fil-a.com/Connect/Contact-Us-CARES.

Chick fil A Corporate Office | Headquarters

Phone: (404)765-8000  [you will reach a receptionist, who will then put you on hold to talk with a Chick-fil-A representative; it’s worth the wait to offer your heartfelt thanks for Dan Cathy’s stand!]

EAT at Chick-fil-A, but AVOID Chili’s & Maggiano’s Little Italy: Please make a special effort to patronize Chick-fil-A restaurants.  (And don’t forget AFTAH’s call to boycott Chili’s and Maggiano’s Restaurants for supporting the radical National Gay and Lesbian Task Force with their corporate dollars.)

Support AFTAH: Please help AFTAH stay in the fight for moral and sexual sanity amidst the escalating “gay” activist lobby’s pressure campaign against ANYONE (or any corporation) that opposes homosexuality and gender confusion.  You can make a gift online at www.americansfortruth.com/donate/ or mail a check to: AFTAH, PO Box 5522, Naperville, IL 60567-5522.  Thanks!

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews Liberty University Law Professor Rena Lindevaldsen on Chicago ‘Gay Marriage’ Court Case – Part One

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

Prof. Rena Lindevaldsen

This is Part One of AFTAH’s second interview with Prof. Rena Lindevaldsen [click HERE to listen], Associate Dean at Liberty University School of Law, based in Lynchburg, Va. This interview with AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and Pastor John Kirkwood of Grace Gospel Fellowship church in Bensenville, Illinois, was recorded July 19, 2012. Lindevaldsen discusses the homosexual/ACLU lawsuit in Illinois contending that the state’s law defining marriage as between one man and one woman is unconstitutional. She opines that the presiding judge, Cook County Circuit Judge Sophia Hall, an open lesbian and member of a homosexual judges group, should recuse herself from the case due to an obvious conflict-of-interest. Lindevaldsen is the author of Only One Mommy: A Woman’s Battle for her Life, Her Daughter and her Freedom,” the story of ex-lesbian-turned-Christian Lisa Miller’s quest to keep custody of her biological daughter, Isabella, and to deny custody to her former lesbian partner.
