“Barebacking Has Become the Norm”

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

The excerpt below is from an article about “barebacking” (condomless anal sex) that reviews two books that assess the health risks of homosexual sex. It was written by a homosexual physician and was published in a homosexual NY weekly newspaper (emphasis added).

WARNING: OFFENSIVE SUBJECT MATTER

Excerpted from “Crystal, Barebacking in Perspective: Two front-line warriors for public health offer balanced assessments of risks facing gay men,” published Jan. 5-11, 2006, in Gay City News:

By Lawrence D. Mass, MD

… At sex parties, which have grown steadily since the closing of back rooms in the bars, and at the bathhouses in Fort Lauderdale, one of them a beautiful, state-of-the-art spa, another trend was emerging. Barebacking is not new to South Florida or elsewhere, but it’s in Fort Lauderdale that I first became aware of what I myself might have called—before reading Michael Shernoff’s “Without Condoms”––barebacking with a vengeance. On any given night at the baths, you’re hard put to find anyone with bedside condoms. And if you bring your own, you are likely to be rebuffed. Even if you find a willing partner, you better have brought your own, because unlike the leading bathhouses in New York City, the Fort Lauderdale baths don’t provide them with your towel, or otherwise promote them. You have to ask for them. For what may be a minority but a sizable one, barebacking has become the norm and if you don’t like it, you can go shove it elsewhere.

… Different people are barebacking for different reasons in varying circumstances, not all of them diabolical. Not every barebacker is like [Bearyrnz2bpoz: need to be married to HIV, to be born-again into the brotherhood]. And even someone like [bearynrz2bpoz], as Shernoff demonstrates, is not necessarily psychotic, criminal, or evil. His choices might make a degree of sense for him not immediately apparent to the rest of us.

The Thought Police of Minneapolis

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

By J. Matt Barber, AFT Corporate Outreach Director

If you’re a Christian working for the City of Minneapolis, watch your step – your job may already be in jeopardy. In what may be one of the most blatant acts of anti-Christian bigotry and discrimination by an American government agency to date, the Minneapolis Police Department has suspended a Police Psychologist, Dr. Michael Campion of Campion, Barrow & Associates, at the behest of pro-homosexual activists.

What was Dr. Campion’s crime? It seems that until last year he was a board member with the Illinois Family Institute (IFI), a Christian organization which advocates traditional family values. The Minneapolis Police Department admits that because of Dr. Campion’s Christian beliefs, and his former affiliation with IFI, he is now under suspension pending an investigation into his beliefs.

The Minneapolis incident is a sad replay of the character assassination Dr. Campion experienced at the hands of liberal activists in Springfield, Illinois last year. After a liberal rag, the Illinois Times, raised questions of Campion being on the board of IFI, an “anti-choice, anti-gay group,” the Springfield City Council dumped him as psychological screener for police and firefighter candidates.

Minneapolis Suspends Police Psychologist for Christian Beliefs

AN AMERICANS FOR TRUTH PRESS RELEASE

Naperville, IL—In perhaps one of the most egregious cases of anti-Christian discrimination in America to date, the Minneapolis Police Department, at the behest of pro-homosexual activists, has suspended a “highly rated” psychologist, Dr. Michael Campion, because of his past affiliation with a Christian group, the Illinois Family Institute.

Americans for Truth Corporate Outreach Director Matt Barber decried Campion’s suspension as an act of “blatant, illegal discrimination and anti-Christian bigotry–one which should send shivers down the spine of every person of faith.”

“What was Campion’s crime? It seems that three years ago, he was a board member with the Illinois Family Institute (IFI), a Christian organization which advocates traditional family values,” said Barber, who himself was fired by Allstate Insurance Company last year after writing an online article critical of homosexuality.

“This official government action by the Minneapolis Police Department is a transparent and egregious violation of Dr. Campion’s First Amendment rights to both freedom of association and religion,” Barber said.

IN THE NEWS: Minneapolis PD Suspends Christian Psychologist for Being a FORMER IFI Board Member

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Excerpted from “Use of police psychologist put on hold for inquiry”, by David Chanen and Rochelle Olson, published Aug 28, 2006, in Minneapolis Star Tribune:

…The issue of Michael A. Campion’s affiliation with a conservative Illinois group that says it opposes the “gay lifestyle” was brought to interim Chief Tim Dolan’s attention on Wednesday during a meeting with the Police Community Relations Council.

Although he said there’s no indication of any bias in Campion’s work, Dolan decided the next day to stop using him until an independent review could take place.

…”Everybody is entitled to their views. But we felt it would be hard to separate them when reviewing people,” said Frank McNeil, a Springfield alderman.

Campion’s business, which is based in Champaign, Ill., has performed psychological testing for 32 years for more than 100 law enforcement agencies, including St. Paul. Last month, Campion received high marks from a consulting firm hired by the Minneapolis Police Department to evaluate his “general procedural goodness and specific cultural fairness” of his testing procedures.

VERY SAD: Schwarzenegger Squashes Religious Freedom

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Campaign for Children and Families (CA) PRESS RELEASE

campaignchildrenfamilies.jpg
Campaign for Children and Families is shocked and dismayed that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed SB 1441 (Kuehl). Today’s disastrous action by Schwarzenegger means Christian and other faith-based colleges in California will be forced to promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality if they accept students with Cal Grants.

“People of conscience are appalled that Arnold Schwarzenegger has trampled religious freedom to satisfy hyperactive sexual activists,” said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading California-based pro-family organization. “SB 1441 will force religious colleges to either abandon their Biblical standards on sexuality, or reject students with state financial aid. Schwarzenegger is doing what Gray Davis did – trample religious freedom at the bidding of liberal activists from San Francisco and West Hollywood.”

“Arnold Schwarzenegger has two faces,” said Thomasson. “He speaks at churches and says he believes in religious freedom and family values, yet he’s stabbing pro-family Californians in the back. People of faith are suffering under Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s not the lesser of two evils, he’s doing evil.”

CCF had informed thousands of Californians about SB 1441, generating thousands of phone calls, faxes, and emails opposing this offensive bill. Last week, the Governor was faxed letters pleading for a veto by Christian colleges, including Westmont College (Santa Barbara), Shasta Bible College (Redding), The King’s College and Seminary (Van Nuys), Vanguard University (Costa Mesa), Life Pacific College (San Dimas), Trinity Law School (Santa Ana), William Jessup University (Rocklin), and Simpson University (Redding).

Supported only by Democrats in the California State Legislature, SB 1441 specifically requires “any program or activity that…receives any financial assistance from the state” to support transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality or lose state funding. SB 1441 contains no exemption for religious colleges and universities that accept students with Cal Grants, or child-care providers that accept CalWORKS vouchers.

Activist to AFT: “Leave Naperville Now”

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

The following is AFT President Peter LaBarbera’s response to an intolerant pro-homosexual activist who urged him (in the name of tolerance!) to “Leave Naperville now.” AFT is based in Naperville, IL, in the western suburbs of Chicago:

Dear Reva,

You are very intolerant, if your letter is any indication. Try to be open to other points of view. Sorry, we’re not leaving Naperville despite the anti-religious bigotry of activists like you. By the way, I have denounced Fred Phelps and his ridiculous “God Hates Fags” message (see the story, “LaBarbera Condemns Fred Phelps’ “God Hates Fags” Message and Threatened Picket at Soldier’s Funeral” on Illinois Family Institute’s website).

Tolerance is all about tolerating dissenting viewpoints, while engaging in civil debate–i.e., refraining from abusive rhetoric and conduct toward your opponents. Sadly, your menacing note does not qualify.

Sincerely,

Peter LaBarbera
Founder and President

The following message was sent from the Americans for Truth Web site:

Please take your hate-filled agenda and ignorance to some other town. Naperville is very gay-friendly and is continuing to grow into a gay-friendly town. Hence, the GLBT alliances [“gay-straight alliance” student groups] in our high schools and local gay support groups. You are no better than those hateful Westboro Baptist Church people who picket dead soldiers because of “America’s acceptance of homosexuality”. Leave Naperville now.

Print This Flyer and Take It to Wal-Mart!

Friday, August 25th, 2006

By Tony Perkins of Family Research Council:

Wal-Mart has announced an odd new domestic “partnership.” They have teamed up with an outfit called the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. Wal-Mart has caved in, obviously, to the pressure tactics such groups apply to large corporations.

This is outrageous. Wal-Mart has made its billions by serving the needs of rural communities throughout America. It has never discriminated against homosexuals who want to purchase their products at low prices. Nor has it discriminated in hiring against homosexuals. But that is not enough. The homosexual lobby demands that Wal-Mart grovel. They demand that Wal-Mart take sides in the great cultural clash over marriage.

Won’t you please join me in opposing this offensive move? You can download and print the accompanying pdf file and drop it off at the Customer Service Desk at your nearest Wal-Mart. You don’t need to confront anyone. Let them know you know what they’re up to-and you don’t appreciate it.

Gay Rights vs. Religious Beliefs

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Today’s Philadelphia Inquirer published an op-ed by Becket Fund Legal Counsel Roger Severino entitled, “Gay rights vs. religious beliefs.” After discussing the City of Philadelphia’s recent decision to penalize the Boy Scouts financially for their moral opposition to same-sex conduct, Roger explains that this is just on example of a broader problem:

Like the Boy Scouts, religious institutions that oppose same-sex marriage will find themselves no longer welcome as partners in a variety of government social-service programs – from family counseling, to addiction programs, to job-placement services – and may even lose their access to public land for religious retreats, just as the Boy Scouts have lost their access to public land for their Jamborees.

In the employment context, religious institutions would be prohibited – on pain of “marital status discrimination” lawsuits – from firing an employee who publicly rejects the institution’s opposition to same-sex marriage by obtaining one. Religious employers might even be forced, against their principles, to extend health and retirement benefits to their employees’ same-sex spouses.

Religious universities that provide married-student housing would be required to provide rooms to everyone legally married, including same-sex couples, even if the university objects on moral grounds. And this problem is hardly speculative or alarmist – it’s already happening on a small scale, even before the legal redefinition of marriage makes it much more common. For example, fair-housing laws have already been applied in New York City to require Yeshiva University to open up its married-student housing to same-sex domestic partners.
