AFA Action Alert: Wal-Mart Sponsors Diversity Week

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

From our friends at American Family Association:

Wal-Mart has given its full endorsement to the homosexual agenda and homosexual marriage. Boise State University in Boise, Idaho, will observe LGBT Diversity Week October 9–13. One of the sponsors for the Diversity Week is Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart is joining the Pleasure Boutique (an adult bookstore which bills itself as “Idaho’s largest selection of adult movies and DVDs and largest adult toy selection in Idaho”) and other groups in sponsoring the week. Diversity Week is a week of celebrating homosexuality and promoting the homosexual agenda and homosexual marriage.

Among the events being sponsored by Wal-Mart is Idaho Votes No Campaign Update and Information Workshop. Voters in Idaho will be voting on a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage in November. This Wal-Mart sponsored event will inform voters how to oppose the amendment and how to get others to do so. Wal-Mart is putting their money behind the effort to legalize homosexual marriage.

Other events being sponsored by Wal-Mart: Gay History of Idaho, Diversity in the Workplace, Women’s/Lesbian Issues, Hate Based Crimes, Heterosexism, Homosexuality and Disabilities, LGBT Youth in Trouble, MCC-Faith and LGBT, and a youth dance for those age 24 and under.

TAKE ACTION

  1. E-mail Wal-Mart or call 1-800-WAL-MART.
  2. Call or e-mail your local Wal-Mart manager with your concerns.
  3. Print out and distribute AFA’s Pass Along Sheet.

“Gay History Month” on Philly School Calendars

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

Read Peter LaBarbera’s remarks about “Gay” History month in public schools HERE.

The following is excerpted from Gay History Month Sparks District Debate, by Susan Snyder, published Sept 28, 2006, in The Philadelphia Inquirer:

Gay and Lesbian History Month was added for the first time this year in an effort to be more inclusive and follow a long-standing district policy requiring equity for all races and minority groups, said Cecilia Cummings, the district’s senior vice president for communications and community relations. It is one of four special history months noted, along with Hispanic Heritage in September, African American in February, and Asian Pacific American in May.

Cummings said the district was not planning to roll out any districtwide curriculum or hold celebrations to coincide with the month, although individual schools with gay-straight alliances may have observances. The uproar in response to the calendar addition was not unexpected.

“We knew that this would be controversial,” Cummings said. “When you deal with diversity, there are some hot-button issues that emerge.”

…Cummings said that about 200,000 calendars had been sent … The publication is paid for by the district.

Philadelphia School District Dubs October ‘Gay & Lesbian History Month’

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

Excerpted from Philadelphia School District Slates ‘Gay & Lesbian History Month’ for Oct., by Michael Foust, published Sept 28, 2006, by Baptist Press:

…”This shows the whole problem with gay activism and so-called gay rights,” Peter LaBarbera, president of the conservative group Americans for Truth, told Baptist Press. “If you promote so-called homosexual rights, by definition you have to undermine people’s religious rights and religious beliefs.

“If you have a gay history month, you’re basically saying, ‘This is a wonderful part of American history — homosexual history — let’s celebrate it and let’s teach the kids that this is like civil rights. Are they going to teach the role that homosexual behavior had in the onset of HIV and AIDS? Is that going to be part of the history?

LaBarbera, though, said there is no comparison between homosexuality and race.

“The schools are equating homosexuality with racial tolerance,” LaBarbera said. “Obviously, racial tolerance is accepted by 99.99 percent of Americans. But there’s a huge cultural divide on the issue of homosexuality, and the school district here is mimicking gay activists’ platitudes in response to this. There’s no respect for people who oppose homosexual behavior.

“They’re promoting one side of the issue to vulnerable and impressionable children. This is all about celebrating homosexuality, and there’s no consideration given for people from traditional faith households.”

Membership is open to men who are bisexual or progressive.

UA recognizes several fraternity and sorority chapters based on diversity.

Are They ‘NUTs’ in the UK? Teaching Homosexuality to 3 Year Olds

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

The UK’s largest teachers’ union, the National Union of Teachers (aptly abbreviated NUT), has demanded that acceptance of homosexual relationships must be included in nursery school curriculum.

NUT is “well established as a major engine in Britain’s homosexual activist community” and is also “currently lobbying to overturn the legal right of religious schools not to hire homosexual teachers.”

“Family Pride” Encourages Homosexual Parents to Be Activists at School

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Excerpted from Gay Parents Encouraged to Be Activists at School, published Sept 18, 2006, by Citizen Link:

Gay-activist group Family Pride has produced a pamphlet to guide homosexual parents in introducing themselves to their children’s schools.

Building Family Equality in the Classroom” suggests parents attend the first PTA meeting together and introduce themselves as a couple.

california-family-council.jpg Barbara McPherson, legislative affairs coordinator for the California Family Council, told Family News in Focus such activism doesn’t belong in school.

“It’s a crossing of the line almost between information that helps people understand tolerance within their community versus an indoctrination,” she said, “trying to get other people’s children to think that same-sex partners are normal.”

Dr. Mike Adams: Wayne’s World (Georgia Tech)

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Excerpted from Wayne’s World, by Mike Adams, published Sept 10, 2006, on Townhall.com:

mike-adams.jpg…I used to think Georgia Tech was one of the best schools in America…

Since they decided to (at least try to) become a “university” not just an “institute of technology,” Tech has been spending a lot of time on tolerance and diversity issues. With speech codes – and, now, even talk of a Queer Resource Center – they have managed to attract a lot of Atlanta’s leftist activists as students.

But, recently, these leftists have gone a little too far. After implementing an unconstitutional speech code, they were sued by two conservative plaintiffs. Georgia Tech lost the suit, which was argued in federal court by David French of the Alliance Defense Fund. Since that speech code was removed, the public has been getting a good look at the fanaticism of these Georgia Tech leftists. They’ve become their own worst enemies and they aren’t even aware of it.

As you read the following internet comments – in response to the Georgia Tech loss in the speech code lawsuit – remember that they are coming exclusively from Georgia Tech students and alumni. If you aren’t already worried about the state of higher education in America, you should be:
