GLBTQ Targeting Youth and Schools

Activist to AFT: “Leave Naperville Now”

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

The following is AFT President Peter LaBarbera’s response to an intolerant pro-homosexual activist who urged him (in the name of tolerance!) to “Leave Naperville now.” AFT is based in Naperville, IL, in the western suburbs of Chicago:

Dear Reva,

You are very intolerant, if your letter is any indication. Try to be open to other points of view. Sorry, we’re not leaving Naperville despite the anti-religious bigotry of activists like you. By the way, I have denounced Fred Phelps and his ridiculous “God Hates Fags” message (see the story, “LaBarbera Condemns Fred Phelps’ “God Hates Fags” Message and Threatened Picket at Soldier’s Funeral” on Illinois Family Institute’s website).

Tolerance is all about tolerating dissenting viewpoints, while engaging in civil debate–i.e., refraining from abusive rhetoric and conduct toward your opponents. Sadly, your menacing note does not qualify.

Sincerely,

Peter LaBarbera
Founder and President

The following message was sent from the Americans for Truth Web site:

Please take your hate-filled agenda and ignorance to some other town. Naperville is very gay-friendly and is continuing to grow into a gay-friendly town. Hence, the GLBT alliances [“gay-straight alliance” student groups] in our high schools and local gay support groups. You are no better than those hateful Westboro Baptist Church people who picket dead soldiers because of “America’s acceptance of homosexuality”. Leave Naperville now.

Campus “Gay Point Average”

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Excerpted from Campus Gay Point Average, by Sarah Schweitzer, published Aug 25, 2006, on Boston.com:

The Advocate, the national newsmagazine for gays and lesbians, published a 389-page book this month listing the 100 schools that it says offer the best discrimination protection, most friendly climate, and most extensive campus services for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students…
MIT, for one, made the top 100. The school is cited for having one of the nation’s oldest gay and lesbian student groups and for early on including both sexual orientation and gender identity in its nondiscrimination policy, yielding what the book, The Advocate College Guide, calls a high “gay point average.”

…The book arrives as surveys show that more gay and lesbian students are coming out at younger ages, often in high school, placing the climate of a college campus at the forefront of more students’ minds as they select schools.

…The book … identified a top 20, including Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Since 1992, the Princeton Review, has ranked the 20 schools that it considers the most and the least “gay community accepted.” This year, the review ranked New York University as most gay friendly and Notre Dame as most inhospitable.

Mexico Introduces Graphic Sex Education

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Excerpted from Mexico Introduces Graphic Sex Education; Catholic Bishops in Outrage, by Peter J. Smith, published Aug 22, 2006, by LifeSite News:

Mexico’s federal government is forcing the nation’s schools to adopt biology textbooks that includes pornographic sex-education, which has evoked outrage from Mexico’s Catholic Bishops and state governors, who have demanded the government remove the explicit material.

“We agree with the necessity of sex education, but pornographic information is something else,” Cardinal Juan Sandoval Iniguez of Guadalajara told the Mexican newspaper Reforma. The cardinal excoriated the federal government for implementing the program, calling the decision “totalitarian” for neglecting to neither consult with the Church nor address the objections of parents who are the primary educators of their children.

The new sexual education course is directed at 7th graders and above, and is nothing less than a full fledged pornographic immersion course in sexual behaviors. The course (contained in chapter 4) tells students that homosexuality and masturbation are acceptable behaviors, includes pornographic pictures, and encourages students to find pornography off the internet.

The bald-faced perversion encouraged by the texts has infuriated Mexico’s Catholic Bishops, who steadfastly maintain that the new textbooks will give the youth an incomplete picture of human sexuality, and encourage them to experiment with promiscuous behavior or various sorts of sexual perversity.

Ontario Catholic Teachers Run Far Left Conference Promoting Gay Activism

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Excerpted from Ontario Catholic Teachers Run Far Left Conference Promoting Gay Activism, by Hilary White, published Aug 22, 2006, by LifeSite News:

The most prominent dissident Catholic academic in the country, former priest Gregory Baum, will be the star attraction at a conference scheduled August 24-26 by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA). The conference features a line-up of speakers and workshops promoting feminism, “eco-theology,” courses in turning students into political agitators and economic ideas from the hard left of the political spectrum.

Although there is in fact a wide range of political opinions among Catholic teachers and the union’s own statement of principles includes promotion of “Catholic values”, the line-up of speakers and workshops emphasizes a notably one-sided socialist, anti-Catholic perspective. That of course alarms parents who realize this agenda is what their children are being indoctrinated in by many teachers in their “Catholic” schools.

Conference workshops and speakers include a full roster of favourite socialist issues from key concepts in the new globalist agenda, to eco-theology. One workshop will give teachers tips on how to inculcate students into activism in the labour movement and for “issues of race, class, gender, ability/disability and sexual orientation.”

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Excerpted from Five-State Campaign Promotes Parental OK for Club Participation, by Allie Martin, published Aug 23, 2006, by Agape Press:

For years, Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs have been formed in public schools nationwide, often without parental notification or input. That has prompted the Family Policy Network (FPN) to start a campaign that would require parental permission before children can participate in non-academic clubs.

Judge Rules Against Georgia Tech’s Discriminatory Speech Code

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Excerpted from Judge Rules Against Georgia Tech’s Discriminatory Speech Code, by Jim Brown, published Aug 23, 2006, by Agape Press:

A federal judge has forced the Georgia Institute of Technology to repeal a controversial policy that bars students from engaging in so-called “acts of intolerance.” In March, the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) filed a lawsuit challenging the policy, claiming it censored the speech of religious and conservative students on campus.Recently, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia issued an order that eliminated Georgia Tech’s speech code and replaced it with a new policy that ADF attorney David French says “respects the constitutional rights of students.” He is calling the court’s ruling “a tremendous victory” for free speech on college campuses.

NEA Escalates Support for Homosexual Agenda

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

Highlights from the American Family Association’s (AFA) informative webpage on the NEA (National Education Association):

  • NEA passed a resolution supporting homosexual “marriage” and homosexual adoption.
  • NEA recommended that GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender) issues training be required content for teacher credentialing. (Such training is usually biased strongly toward the homosexual activist side.)
  • NEA upgraded their language from tolerance of homosexuality to acceptance and respect for homosexuality.
  • NEA refused to pass this amendment: “To protect the rights of all students, the Association believes sexual contact between education professionals and minor students is unacceptable.”
  • NEA signed a letter opposing the Federal Marriage Amendment.
See AFA online “Action Alert” on the NEA to take action!
