Excerpted from Gay Frat at UA Gets its National Charter, by La Monica Everett-Haynes, published Sept 20, 2006, by Tucson Citizen:
It took a little more than one year for a group of University of Arizona students to get a national charter for their gay fraternity.
Delta Lambda Phi, which is now recognized at UA, received its charter earlier this month…
It’s the university’s first fraternity geared toward gays, making UA one of a few schools in the nation with Greek letter organizations geared toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students…
Membership is open to men who are bisexual or progressive.
UA recognizes several fraternity and sorority chapters based on diversity.

Published Sept 13, 2006, on Townhall.com:
It will probably come as a surprise to most readers that my speech in April at the University of New Hampshire ranks as one of the three I most enjoyed giving on a college campus. The speech, which was laced with sentences even more awkward than the opening line of this column, was almost as much fun as the speeches I gave at the University of Georgia and North Carolina State University.
The reason I so loved the speech at New Hampshire was that many of those who came to protest actually ended up agreeing with most of what I had to say…

Excerpted from Battle Over Gay Partner Benefits At Kentucky Universities, published Sept 12, 2006, by the pro-homosexuality 365Gay.com:
The University of Kentucky may follow the University of Louisville in offering health benefits to the same and opposite-sex domestic partners of its employees, but even if the plan is approved, it could be short lived…
Both schools say that without the benefit plans they are unable to attract the best faculty and researchers.
More than 300 colleges and universities nationwide already offer benefits to domestic partners.
Still conservative lawmakers are preparing to introduce legislation nullifying the Louisville benefits, thwart any attempt at UK and prevent other publicly funded colleges and universities from attempting the same thing.

WARNING: OFFENSIVE SUBJECT MATTER
Excerpted from Meeting in the Men’s Room, by Joshua Sharp, published Sept 12, 2006, in Daily Trojan (University of Southern CA):
…Cruisers, facilities management employees, law enforcement officials and Web sites dedicated to cruising confirm that multiple bathrooms at USC are consistently used for cruising.
One cruising Web site lists 66 cruising locations in Los Angeles – including eight at USC.
“My wife and I have a pretty good sex life. ? I don’t identify as gay,” said the cruiser, who is married and has a child. He called cruising, which is a misdemeanor, “an adventure.”
Cruisers said bathrooms in Bovard Auditorium, Doheny Library, Taper Hall and the Student Union are all common spots for cruising and all have seen recent activity.
[Note from AFT: Later in the article, one “cruiser” says “he would never visit Bovard on Sundays because he is aware that families use the facilities for church services.“]
USC employees said sexual rendezvous have been taking place for years at Bovard, STU, Mudd Hall, Social Sciences Building, Von KleinSmid Center, Olin Hall, Waite Phillips Hall and Kaprielian Hall.
Janitors at UCLA said Royce Hall and Haines Hall are also popular cruising sites at the Bruin campus.
Law enforcement
Cruising is a misdemeanor and violates California Penal Code Section 647(d), which outlaws loitering in public bathrooms to solicit “lewd or lascivious or any unlawful act.”

Excerpted from Wayne’s World, by Mike Adams, published Sept 10, 2006, on Townhall.com:
…I used to think Georgia Tech was one of the best schools in America…
Since they decided to (at least try to) become a “university” not just an “institute of technology,” Tech has been spending a lot of time on tolerance and diversity issues. With speech codes – and, now, even talk of a Queer Resource Center – they have managed to attract a lot of Atlanta’s leftist activists as students.
But, recently, these leftists have gone a little too far. After implementing an unconstitutional speech code, they were sued by two conservative plaintiffs. Georgia Tech lost the suit, which was argued in federal court by David French of the Alliance Defense Fund. Since that speech code was removed, the public has been getting a good look at the fanaticism of these Georgia Tech leftists. They’ve become their own worst enemies and they aren’t even aware of it.
As you read the following internet comments – in response to the Georgia Tech loss in the speech code lawsuit – remember that they are coming exclusively from Georgia Tech students and alumni. If you aren’t already worried about the state of higher education in America, you should be:

Excerpted from Gov. Arnold Tosses School Moral Codes, published Aug 24, 2006, by WorldNet Daily:
…The governor yesterday signed a bill that would require all businesses and groups receiving state funding — even if it’s a state grant for a student — to condone homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality.
There is no exception for faith-based organizations or business owners with sincerely held religious convictions, critics note.
“The gates of hell are prevailing against the church,” Randy Thomasson, president of the Campaign for Children and Families, told WorldNetDaily. “It’s because Christian colleges and churches have ignored the political process for so long. Now the political process, absent religious values, is coming back to assault the church.”
“This isn’t even a veiled attempt at subtly advancing the radical homosexual agenda,” said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute. “SB1441 is an outright, blatant assault on religious freedom in California.”

Campaign for Children and Families (CA) PRESS RELEASE
Campaign for Children and Families is shocked and dismayed that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed SB 1441 (Kuehl). Today’s disastrous action by Schwarzenegger means Christian and other faith-based colleges in California will be forced to promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality if they accept students with Cal Grants.
“People of conscience are appalled that Arnold Schwarzenegger has trampled religious freedom to satisfy hyperactive sexual activists,” said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading California-based pro-family organization. “SB 1441 will force religious colleges to either abandon their Biblical standards on sexuality, or reject students with state financial aid. Schwarzenegger is doing what Gray Davis did – trample religious freedom at the bidding of liberal activists from San Francisco and West Hollywood.”
“Arnold Schwarzenegger has two faces,” said Thomasson. “He speaks at churches and says he believes in religious freedom and family values, yet he’s stabbing pro-family Californians in the back. People of faith are suffering under Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s not the lesser of two evils, he’s doing evil.”
CCF had informed thousands of Californians about SB 1441, generating thousands of phone calls, faxes, and emails opposing this offensive bill. Last week, the Governor was faxed letters pleading for a veto by Christian colleges, including Westmont College (Santa Barbara), Shasta Bible College (Redding), The King’s College and Seminary (Van Nuys), Vanguard University (Costa Mesa), Life Pacific College (San Dimas), Trinity Law School (Santa Ana), William Jessup University (Rocklin), and Simpson University (Redding).
Supported only by Democrats in the California State Legislature, SB 1441 specifically requires “any program or activity that…receives any financial assistance from the state” to support transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality or lose state funding. SB 1441 contains no exemption for religious colleges and universities that accept students with Cal Grants, or child-care providers that accept CalWORKS vouchers.
