Presbyterian Megachurch Leaves Denomination over Gay Policy

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Excerpted from Presbyterian Megachurch Leaves Denomination over Gay Policy, published Aug 31, 2006, by Associated Press:

Just over one-thousand members of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church turned out and voted 967-to-36 to affirm a vote by church elders to leave.

The group then voted to request affiliation with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church…

The decision to change affiliations comes after the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) adopted a policy that some pastors say will allow gay pastors in the church.

Wal-Mart Hires Pro-Homosexual Marketing Firm

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Excerpted from Wal-Mart Partners With Gay and Lesbian Group, by Mya Frazier, published Aug 24, 2006, by American Family Association:

…Wal-Mart hired Witeck-Combs Communications, a marketing shop known for its work targeting the gay and lesbian consumer market, according to Bob Witeck, president of the Washington-based firm…

Founded in 1993, the eight-person agency’s client list boasts automotive brands Volvo, Land Rover, and Jaguar, in addition to American Airlines, Citigroup and at least a dozen nonprofits, such as the American Association of People with Disabilities.

Witeck-Combs, a member of the NGLCC, is also a participant in the organization’s supplier-diversity initiative, or SDI, a certification program launched this year and modeled after minority- and women-supplier development programs. Corporate participants already include IBM, American Airlines, Motorola and American Express.

Gay Walmart …As part of the Wal-Mart Stores partnership with the NGLCC, Dee Breazeale, VP-divisional merchandising, Sam’s Club Jewelry, has joined the organization’s Corporate Advisory Council and Wal-Mart will sponsor two of the organization’s annual conferences.

Mr. Nelson said Wal-Mart approached the organization four months ago, expressing interest in the supplier-diversity initiative. “The expectation is that Wal-Mart will encourage their core suppliers — the P&G’s, the Johnson & Johnson’s and the Gillette’s — to also diversify their revenue streams to include LGTB businesses,” Mr. Nelson said.

He said the retailer is “working right now on providing domestic-partnership benefits” and that Wal-Mart may soon join the 261 members of the Fortune 500 that offer the benefits.

The steps being taken by Wal-Mart are the strongest signal yet that the company may be taking a permanent stand on the side of gay rights…

NBA Great Charles Barkley Supports “Gay Marriage”

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Excerpted from NBA Great Charles Barkley Mulls Run For Ala. Gov., Supports Gay Marriage, by , published Sept , 2006, by the pro-homosexuality 365Gay.com:

“Religious people in general are so discriminatory against other people, and that really disturbs me,” he said. “My idea of religion is we all love and respect. We all sin, but we still have common decency and respect for other people. So right now I’m struggling with my idea of what religion is.”

He also said he supports gay marriage.

“I think if they want to get married, God bless them,” Barkley said. “Gay marriage is probably 1 percent of the population, so it’s not like it’s going to be an epidemic. Hey, trust me, I’m never going to kiss you and say, ‘Chris, you’re sexy.'”

How Britain is Turning Christianity into a Crime

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Excerpted from How Britain is Turning Christianity into a Crime, by Melanie Phillips, published Sept 7, 2006, in The Daily Mail (UK):

The problem for Christianity is that it holds that homosexuality is wrong. This, however, it is no longer allowed to say because it treats a minority practice as sinful. So it can no longer uphold a central tenet of its own faith without being accused of prejudice.

…Author Lynette Burrows received a warning from the Metropolitan Police merely for suggesting that gay people did not make ideal adoptive parents. The former leader of the Muslim Council of Britain, Sir Iqbal Sacranie, also had his collar felt by police after he said that homosexuality was harmful.Notably, in his case the matter was swiftly dropped. If there’s one thing that terrifies our PC police even more than being called homophobic, it’s being called Islamophobic — even though Islamic fundamentalism poses a real threat to the human rights of gay people.

If this wasn’t all so frightening, it would be hilarious.

Christians, by contrast, get very different treatment. An elderly evangelical preacher, Harry Hammond, was convicted of a public order offence after he held up a poster calling for an end to homosexuality, lesbianism and immorality. Although he had been the victim of a physical attack when a crowd poured soil and water over him, he alone was prosecuted.

And Lancashire pensioners Joe and Helen Roberts were interrogated by police for 80 minutes about their ‘ homophobic’ views after they had merely asked their local council to display Christian literature alongside gay rights leaflets in civic buildings.

Christianity is fast becoming the creed that dare not speak its name…

The ‘diversity’ agenda, in other words, is a fig-leaf for an attack on Christianity…

This attack on Christianity…is not merely a threat to freedom of speech and religious expression. It is a fundamental onslaught on the national identity and bedrock values of this country — and as such will destroy those freedoms which Christianity itself first created.

British Christian Arrested for Distributing Bible Tracts Opposing Homosexuality

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

As bad as things are with the rise of an intolerant, government-endorsed “gay” agenda in the USA, they are worse in Canada, England and much of Western Europe. This story from Lifesite News (one of the best pro-family news sites in the world) well illustrates the danger of police and other law enforcement agencies sympathizing with and taking part in “gay pride” parades and other pro-homosexual activities: They become won over to the homosexual viewpoint, with disastrous consequences for Christians and freedom in general.

The story below involves the arrest of Stephen Green, National Director for Christian Voice, a British Christian group. Green was passing a Christian leaflet, “Same-sex love, same-sex sex: what does the Bible say?” at a homosexual event in Cardiff, South Wales.

To read Christian Voice’s own account of the arrest, click HERE. We hope homosexual activists in the United States would roundly condemn such blatant violations of religious liberty and free speech.

Excerpt:

“British police have led a series of initiatives in the past few months against those who have spoken out in opposition to homosexual activity, the Daily Mail reported, including warnings, home visits and investigations. Sir Iqbal Sacranie was investigated after an interview in which he said homosexuality was harmful. Author Lynette Burrows received a warning after saying homosexuals did not make ideal adoptive parents on BBC Radio.”

Christian Arrested for Distributing Bible Quotes Opposing Homosexuality

The evangelical Christian had not behaved in a violent or aggressive manner

By Gudrun Schultz

SOUTH WALES, United Kingdom, September 7, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A prominent Christian leader arrested for passing out leaflets at a homosexual Mardi Gras festival was charged solely on the basis that the material presented views opposing homosexuality, the Daily Mail reported yesterday.

Stephen Green, 55, national director of the evangelical organization Christian Voice, was arrested for handing leaflets entitled “Same-sex love – same-sex sex: What does the Bible say?” to festival goers attending the homosexual celebration held in Bute Park.

Green was charged with using “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior,” BBC News reported.

South Wales Police admitted Mr. Green was arrested because the pamphlets contained Bible quotes condemning homosexual activity. A spokesman for the police confirmed the evangelical Christian had not behaved in a violent or aggressive manner, according to the Daily Mail, but said Mr. Green was arrested by the South Wales Minorities Support Unit because “the leaflet contained Biblical quotes about homosexuality.”

Meeting in the Men’s Room

WARNING: OFFENSIVE SUBJECT MATTER

Excerpted from Meeting in the Men’s Room, by Joshua Sharp, published Sept 12, 2006, in Daily Trojan (University of Southern CA):

…Cruisers, facilities management employees, law enforcement officials and Web sites dedicated to cruising confirm that multiple bathrooms at USC are consistently used for cruising.

One cruising Web site lists 66 cruising locations in Los Angeles – including eight at USC.

“My wife and I have a pretty good sex life. ? I don’t identify as gay,” said the cruiser, who is married and has a child. He called cruising, which is a misdemeanor, “an adventure.”

Cruisers said bathrooms in Bovard Auditorium, Doheny Library, Taper Hall and the Student Union are all common spots for cruising and all have seen recent activity.

[Note from AFT: Later in the article, one “cruiser” says “he would never visit Bovard on Sundays because he is aware that families use the facilities for church services.“]

USC employees said sexual rendezvous have been taking place for years at Bovard, STU, Mudd Hall, Social Sciences Building, Von KleinSmid Center, Olin Hall, Waite Phillips Hall and Kaprielian Hall.

Janitors at UCLA said Royce Hall and Haines Hall are also popular cruising sites at the Bruin campus.

Law enforcement

Cruising is a misdemeanor and violates California Penal Code Section 647(d), which outlaws loitering in public bathrooms to solicit “lewd or lascivious or any unlawful act.”

Agape Press: Commentary & News Briefs (Sept 11, 2006)

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

…The Fox News Channel’s credo of being “fair and balanced” is being challenged by a pro-family group following the media group’s $10,000 gift to a pro-homosexual group. The gift to the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) undermines the Fox News motto, says Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth — unless, of course, Fox News matches the donation by giving to a conservative or pro-family organization. “Fox News cannot claim to be ‘fair and balanced’ in its coverage of homosexuality while providing large grants to a special-interest group like the [NLGJA] …,” says LaBarbera. The homosexual journalists’ group, he claims, “demonizes religious conservatives” and tries to influence the mainstream media to exclude conservative criticism of the homosexual agenda from “gay”-related stories. The Americans for Truth president says a matching grant to a conservative or pro-family organization would demonstrate to its viewers a commitment to living up to its credo and “not taking sides in the culture war.” [Jody Brown]

Your Red Cross Contributions May Go to Homosexual Partners

Monday, September 11th, 2006

An interesting statistic is inadvertently noted in this article: 22 of the 2880 tragically killed on Sept 11, 2001, are identified as having a homosexual partner. That is 0.75% — even if that figure were doubled or tripled, it is nowhere near the 10% figure that some homosexual activists still fraudulently cite to exaggerate their numbers and clout.

Despite the small percentage, the Red Cross‘s capitulation to homosexual activist groups is troubling. Few Americans have any clue when they are giving to this charitable organization that their donation could help advance a larger agenda to radically redefine the family. At the very least, Red Cross officials should let the public know of their decision which undermines the primacy of marriage, albeit in the name of compassion. – Sonja Dalton

The excerpt below is from an article in the Washington Blade, a homosexual newspaper, “Sept 11 Introduced US to Gay Families,” by Louis Chibbaro, Jr, published Sept 8, 2006 (emphasis added):

…ESPA [Empire State Pride Agenda, a New York homosexual activist group] and HRC [Human Rights Campaign, a D.C.-based homosexual lobby group], among other groups, met with top officials of the American Red Cross, which initially limited its relief services to blood relatives or married spouses of 9/11 victims. In a development that disaster relief observers considered unprecedented, the Red Cross adopted a new set of criteria for defining a “family member” eligible for relief assistance that included domestic partners.

Agreeing to suggestions by ESPA, HRC and Lambda Legal, Red Cross officials adopted criteria such as a joint bank account, the naming of a partner as an insurance beneficiary or a joint lease on an apartment as verification that an applicant for relief was a legitimate partner eligible for relief services.

Red Cross officials went a step further by putting the new criteria in place for all future disasters such as hurricanes and floods…
