Out in Scripture: Is Homosexuality a God-Ordained Identity?
October 2nd, 2006This is part B of our response to “Out in Scripture” (from the pro-homosexuality Human Rights Campaign) by for Sept 17, 2006, by Americans For Truth writer Sonja Dalton:
“Out in Scripture” makes the following assertion about Psalm 116:1-9:
The psalmist in Psalm 116:1-9 expresses a similar strength and gratitude. In spite of distress, persecution, affliction, even death, God delivers and is merciful to those whose whole lives are grounded in God (116:5-6). What a valuable word for the LGBT community! When one claims the truth of one’s core identity in God — whether that core is known through being a teacher or in claiming the fullness of one’s God-given gender identity or sexual orientation — divine support is available.
And so we must ask: Is “homosexuality,” “bisexuality,” or “transexuality” a grounded, God-ordained identity?
Let us open our Bibles and examine what the Creator has revealed about the God-ordained identity of humankind…

Who Protected the Perverted Congressman? What Did Rep. Shimkus Know about Mark Foley?

Washington insiders have known about Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL)’s homosexuality for a long time, but I would suspect that most of his constituents have been in the dark about it. Years ago in D.C., I once tried to discourage a Foley run for U.S. Senate by calling his office and asking: 1) if he is a homosexual; and 2) if his constituents have a right to know about it. A top aide came on the line and told me that the staff does not answer questions about the Congressman’s “sexual orientation.”
I wonder, picking up on my friend Cliff Kincaid’s theme below here: why did senior GOP leaders protect Foley’s homosexual secret? How many knew about his predatory behavior towards teenaged boys; when did they find out and why didn’t they do anything about it? Were they going to keep protecting the dirty secret as he announced a run for U.S. Senate?
Is “winning” as a Republican now more important than protecting children? Is it more important than letting a representative’s constituents know about his immoral behaviors, which of course influence his votes (Foley was pro-“gay”)? We need answers from House Speaker Denny Hastert and Rep. John Shimkus (R-Illinois), who chairs the House Page Board.
And isn’t it telling most of the tiny number of homosexual male U.S. Congressmen have been caught in sex scandals–remember Barney Frank, who let his male lover, a hustler, run a prostitution ring out of his D.C. apartment? And Massachusetts Rep. Gerry Studds, who had sex with a 17-year-old boy and then turned his back on fellow House Members during the censure vote against him? And Bob Bauman (R-Md.), who in 1980 was charged with soliciting a 16-year-old boy for sex?
Let’s see: three homosexual Congressmen involved in sexual seductions of minor boys–ages 16, 17, and 17 (Foley). And yet homosexual activists ridicule anyone who suggests there is a predatory or pedophilic component to male homosexuality….

It may already be too late. As students return to school this fall, we are sadly reminded that the campaign to normalize homosexuality in their minds continues incessantly. But Christian kids will be okay, because they know it’s wrong. Or so we think.
It’s not necessarily so. What is your church doing to equip kids about this specific issue? Is there any time we are “suppressing the truth” through silence? How are we teaching them to deal with the onslaught of misinformation available to them everywhere, from what they believe are trustworthy sources?
There’s a lot at stake. Everyday, the following scenes are being played out in the lives of ordinary American kids:
- An emotionally vulnerable boy or girl is seduced into participating in homosexual acts by a peer or an older homosexual
- A confused young person dwells on and begins to believe privately he/she was “born” homosexual, after hearing it implied endlessly in our culture.
- An adolescent turns way from authentic Christian faith, becoming convinced the Bible’s message on homosexuality is hateful, primitive or an incorrect translation.
- A boy or girl wrongly advises a friend that it’s okay to be ‘gay’ and a Christian at the same time.
- A troubled teen believes a sex change would solve his or her problems, and begins to dress and act as the opposite sex.
- A curious, poorly supervised teen discovers, and becomes sexually aroused by, homosexual pornography on the Internet. He/she incorrectly concludes that such arousal reveals an inborn homosexual nature.
These aren’t the unchurched kids. We’re talking about the private interior lives of pre-teens and teens who are sitting in youth groups in Christian churches all over this country. They’re hearing one distorted message from the culture. The truth that could rescue them from the darkest and the most destructive of beliefs, concerns, and stresses over this issue, is a rare jewel, seldom revealed to them.
Homosexuality is secretly destroying the Christian faith of millions of teens, whether they are involved in the behavior or not, and adult Christians seem to be oblivious. Our silence spells the final spiritual death sentence for many of them.
If we are to save this generation, we must act now.

Florida columnist ‘outs’ Senate candidate
Mark Foley, a Republican congressman from Florida and a Senate candidate in 2004, is in a swirl of controversy after not answering repeated questions about his alleged homosexuality.
“Gay rights” advocates—including Bob Norman, a columnist with the New Times Broward-Palm Beach newspaper—say Foley’s alleged homosexuality is an open secret, one that he should acknowledge to Florida citizens.
Rep. Foley receives campaign donations from the Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual lobby group, and supports various pro-homosexual bills in Congress such as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). His voting record is more conservative on other issues.
“[Foley’s] voting record on gay rights has become a controversial issue. He’s campaigning across Florida for the U.S. Senate. The people have a right to know,” Norman wrote in a long column May 8. “And dancing around the truth is just getting too weird to abide.”
In the column, Norman quotes Tracy Thorne, a homosexual and activist for homosexuals in the military, saying that Foley brought a “boyfriend” along on a visit to Thorne in the early 1990s.
Foley and his spokesman say they will not answer reporters’ questions about his “personal life.” The homosexual newspaper Washington Blade was told the same when it asked spokesman Kirk Fordham “point blank if Foley is gay.”
Most nonhomosexual newspapers did not pursue the story, but after Norman broke the ice with his column, the pressure grew on Foley, who is running for the seat vacated by Democratic presidential hopeful Bob Graham. (Foley has raised far more money for the Senate run than fellow GOP congressman Bill McCullum, who is also in the race.) Foley sought to go on the offensive by holding a conference call with reporters May 22. However, the call, in which Foley restated his refusal to discuss his “orientation,” only generated more press coverage.

Oprah Exposes NAMBLA: Homosexual Pedophiles Online
September 28th, 2006One of the questions I have regarding any linkage between homosexuality and pedophilia is why such a disproportionate number of child molestation victims are boys—if (openly) homosexual men comprise such a small percentage of society? We doubt that Oprah Winfrey, who is very pro-“gay,” will pursue the answer to that question, but at least she is exposing the notorious group NAMBLA (North American Man-Boy Love Association), which once marched in homosexual “pride” parades in the early days of American “gay liberation.”
The following was excerpted from On the Web, Pedophiles Extend Their Reach, by Kirk Eichenwald, published Aug 21, 2006, by the New York Times. Mr. Eisenwald was a guest on today’s “Oprah” program, a detailed description of which may be found on her website. I hope you agree with me that the most outrageous element of this story is the pathetically paltry jail sentences these child molestors are receiving. (Personally, I’m open to the idea of castration as a penalty.) Hopefully, with the lobbying efforts of Oprah and thousands of others across the country, that will change. –Peter LaBarbera, AFT
In a chilling article, New York Times reporter Kirk Eichenwald explores the online world of pedophiles:
…Today, pedophiles go online to seek tips for getting near children — at camps, through foster care, at community gatherings and at countless other events. They swap stories about day-to-day encounters with minors. And they make use of technology to help take their arguments to others, like sharing online a printable booklet [“Straight Talk for Boys”] to be distributed to children that extols the benefits of sex with adults.
The community’s online infrastructure is surprisingly elaborate. There are Internet radio stations run by and for pedophiles; a putative charity that raised money to send Eastern European children to a camp where they were apparently visited by pedophiles; and an online jewelry company that markets pendants proclaiming the wearer as being sexually attracted to children, allowing anyone in the know to recognize them.
…In this online community, pedophiles view themselves as the vanguard of a nascent movement seeking legalization of child pornography and the loosening of age-of-consent laws. They portray themselves as battling for children’s rights to engage in sex with adults, a fight they liken to the civil rights movement.
Mr Eichenwald reports that chat room visitors might discuss:
- Sexual attraction and sexual relationships with their own children or their friends,
- What a man might do to “prepare” an 8 year old girl for full intercourse,
- Sharing fantasies about intercourse with infants,
- The need to disguise pedophilia in order to qualify as a foster parent.
Oprah’s program featured a shocked former wife of NAMBLA member and convicted pedophile, “the smiling dentist” Todd Calvin; FBI Agent Robert Hamer, who infiltrated NAMBLA, resulting in eight convictions (including Todd Calvin); and Chris Hansen of Dateline, who works with a group called Perverted Justice to televise pedophile stings on NBC’s “To Catch a Predator” specials. Oprah’s website shows two pendants or charms – jewelry that designates a pedophile.

“Gay History Month” on Philly School Calendars

The following is excerpted from Gay History Month Sparks District Debate, by Susan Snyder, published Sept 28, 2006, in The Philadelphia Inquirer:
…Gay and Lesbian History Month was added for the first time this year in an effort to be more inclusive and follow a long-standing district policy requiring equity for all races and minority groups, said Cecilia Cummings, the district’s senior vice president for communications and community relations. It is one of four special history months noted, along with Hispanic Heritage in September, African American in February, and Asian Pacific American in May.
Cummings said the district was not planning to roll out any districtwide curriculum or hold celebrations to coincide with the month, although individual schools with gay-straight alliances may have observances. The uproar in response to the calendar addition was not unexpected.
“We knew that this would be controversial,” Cummings said. “When you deal with diversity, there are some hot-button issues that emerge.”
…Cummings said that about 200,000 calendars had been sent … The publication is paid for by the district.
The Gospel According to McGreevey–Wrong
September 25th, 2006Mr. McCullough suggests below that our country has a “new superhero” class of extra-marital fornicators: “Who are they? Men who engage in same-gender sexual activities!” Episcopal bishop (Vickie) Eugene Robinson for example, and, of course, the lastest: Former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey.
Mr. McCullough noticed, as did many puzzled Christians, how many times Jim McGreevey invoked the name of God, stating repeatedly that his open embrace of homosexuality is part of his “path back to godliness.” There could be no greater lie.
- Jesus Himself said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command” (John 14:15)…the same Jesus that affirmed God’s design for marriage (one man, one woman, for life) and condemned both divorce and adultery (Matthew 5 & 19).
- The apostle John wrote, “If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the Truth…No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him…He who does what is sinful is of the devil…No one who is born of God will continue to sin…”
If Jim McGreevey knew anything about godliness, he would be sorrowful for what he has done, and is still doing, to his wife and children — and even more grieved by what he has done against a Holy God. Instead, he exposes his innocent little daughter to his homosexual lover and introduces his lover to the world as though such a travesty is laudable.
Jude, the brother of Christ, warned that there already were and would continue to be “godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality” and who “follow their own ungodly desires…who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.” He urged believers to beware, to “contend for the faith,” to “snatch others from the fire and save them,” to “show mercy, mixed with fear – hating even the clothing stained with corrupted flesh.”
Therefore, we must speak in opposition to this latest blasphemy: divorce and adultery and homosexual practice are not godliness. We must pray earnestly for Jim McGreevey and others who are living in open defiance of God’s will, calling evil “good.” And we must reach out with genuine love and compassion to those who are confused by homosexual attractions–those whose consciences are yet tender and responsive to Christ’s healing.–Sonja Dalton

…there’s a new kid on the scene. Having done all he could to ruin the state of New Jersey – a state he took a solemn oath to protect and serve – the new adulterer that liberals all love is Jim McGreevey. Just in the last week alone he’s held hands with Oprah, and shared New Jersey rest area secrets with Matt Lauer.
He’s also invoked God’s name about three hundred times.
And now he says, “it’s all about telling the truth.”
But I’d like to know, “since when?”

Sexually Transmitted Infections Increase HIV Risk for Homosexual Men

Certain sexually transmitted infections in the anus increase the risk of gay men becoming infected with HIV, according to research conducted in Sydney and presented to the Sixteenth International AIDS Conference in Toronto last week. In a separate study, the same team of investigators also found that gay men who were infected with herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) were at a greater of risk of becoming infected with HIV.
There is epidemiological evidence suggesting a connection between sexually transmitted infections and the risk of HIV infection. It is therefore thought that preventing sexually transmitted infections could would also help to reduce the number of new HIV infections. Few studies have looked at the connection between sexually transmitted infections and the risk of becoming HIV-positive in gay men. Investigators from the Health in Men (HIM) study in Sydney, Australia, therefore conducted a prospective study involving over 1,400 HIV-negative gay men.
