VIDEO: LaBarbera Disappointed in Bruce Rauner’s Weak Position on Marriage, Warns GOP about Going AWOL on Social Issues

Monday, June 23rd, 2014

Even since the recent recording of this video interview by Monte Larrick of the Illinois Family Institute (published June 21, 2014 and recorded the week before), yet another Republican governor has capitulated to judicial activism on same-sex “marriage.” Go HERE for a local CBS-Pittsburgh TV news report on Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett deciding not to appeal U.S. District Court Judge John Jones III’s ruling imposing homosexual “marriages” on Pennsylvania. Note that Corbett–like Illinois GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner, as well as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder–does not want to discuss “gay marriage” publicly. Since when did defending marriage as between a man and a woman become the third rail in Republican politics?–Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH

VIDEO: America’s Survival TV – LaBarbera and Kincaid Discuss Hollywood Homosexual Pedophile Scandal and Canada ‘Hate’ Politics

Saturday, April 26th, 2014
Michael Egan

Michael Egan

This interview with America’s Survival President Cliff Kincaid aired on AS’s Roku channel April 24, 2014. In discussing homosexuality and pedophilia, Kincaid references a video by homosexual Walter Lee Hampton complaining about seeing so many homosexual men in thir 30’s, 40’s and even 50’s in sexual relationships with minor boys [go HERE to view]. At about 17:45 the discussion shifts to LaBarbera recounting his run-in with Canada’s homosexuality-affirming “hate” politics, culminating in his arrest for protesting peacefully with Bill Whatcott at University of Regina, in Satchatchewan. [Go HERE to watch this on YouTube.] America’s Survival writes:

Pedophiles Exposed! Peter LaBarbera on Gay Media Power

The mother of the alleged victim of a powerful Hollywood pedophile ring says she tried for years to interest the media in the story. Michael Egan’s mother Bonnie Mound said, “I wrote every news channel, every magazine, every talk show host, everybody, from Oprah to ‘20/20‘ to ‘60 Minutes‘…. Nobody wanted to do anything because of the high-profile people involved.” Although Egan attorney Jeff Herman said the suits are not about homosexuality, but rather pedophilia and child abuse, Peter LaBarbera of the group Americans for Truth notes that the founder of the modern gay rights movement, Harry Hay, was a communist who supported the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA). LaBarbera was recently arrested and jailed in Canada for distributing pro-family values literature on the campus of the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Republican Sen. Mark Kirk Accepts ‘Freedom’ Award from Homo-Fascist ‘Gay Equality’ Group that Tried to Force Chick-fil-A Out of Illinois

Friday, February 14th, 2014

Kirk honored by radical homosexual group that smear C-f-A’s “hate-filled homophobic ‘Chiken'” and tried to deny Christian-owned chain’s ‘freedom’ to do business in Illinois

Kirk_Equality_IL_Award

Republican U.S. Sen. Mark KIrk of Illinois accepts “Freedom” award from the state’s leading homosexual lobby group, Equality Illinois. The group ran a nasty albeit unsuccessful “Flick the Hate” pressure campaign to run Chick-fil-A restaurants out of the state–by petitioning their stakeholders to deny the popular fast-food chain’s leases. Chick-fil-A is expanding in Illinois, and now has 32 restaurants in the state.

By Peter LaBarbera

TAKE ACTION:

  1. Call or write Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) [202-224-2854; Chicago 312-886-3506; online Comment Form HERE] and urge him to stop rewarding anti-Christian bigotry. Ask him to return this “Freedom Award” from the hateful anti-Christian homosexual group, Equality Illinois–which in 2012 launched a failed pressure campaign to kick Chick-fil-A restaurants out of Illinois.
  2. Call or write the Republican National Committee [Contact Form HERE] and its Chairman, Reince Priebus [202-863-8500; choose ext. “1”], and urge them to stand firm against the aggressive Homosexual Lobby, which is targeting Christian leaders and businesses like Chick-fil-A for demonization. Tell Priebus that when Republicans like Sen. Mark Kirk embrace Democratic-type social liberalism, it only deflates the pro-family GOP grassroots. Lastly, urge Priebus to PUBLICLY oppose ENDA, the radical Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Thank Chairman Priebus for being publicly pro-life–but urge him also to make the case against “Big Gay Government” (e.g., ENDA)–and Obama’s push to nationalize “same-sex marriage”–as part of the RNC’s regular public Talking Points.

Dear AFTAH Readers:

On Saturday evening (Feb. 8, 2014), U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Illinois) was presented with the “Freedom” award by Equality Illinois, the state’s leading homosexual pressure group, at a swank fundraising banquet in Chicago. You can watch a video of the presentation below [or on YouTube HERE]. Sen. Kirk has become one of the most liberal Republicans on Capitol Hill on homosexual-related issues–with ever greater acts of pandering to the LGBT Lobby. (He came out for homosexual “marriage” and is pushing for passage of ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act [see homosexual activists release on Kirk and ENDA HERE], or–as we at AFTAH call it, alternatively the “Big Gay Government Act,”  “Gay Lawyers’ Dream Act,” or “ENDA Our Freedom Act”) [See an excellent Heritage Foundation report on the ENDA bill HERE.]

You might recall how Kirk–in a capitulation whose cowardice was eclipsed only by its pettiness–recently blocked the respected pro-family organization  World Congress of Families from securing a meeting room on Capitol Hill. This towering act in defense of “freedom” (sarcasm) came after the Senator heard complaints against WCF from some homosexual activists. World Congress, affiliated with The Howard Center, is based in Rockford, Illinois.

Thus it appears that Sen. Kirk’s conception of “freedom” matches that of his intolerant homosexual activist allies. In 2012, Equality Illinois launched a vicious and slanderous campaign to deny Chick-fil-A restaurants the “freedom” to operate in Illinois. As you can see below, EQ falsely accused C-f-A of “discriminatory policies” because the latter’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Cathy, had spoken out publicly against homosexual “marriage” as tempting the judgment of God. The Chicago “gay” group launched this “Flick the Hate” petition campaign designed to boot the Christian-owned chicken fast food franchise out of several college towns:

Chick-fil-Equality-IL-Flick-the-Hate

The above is a web graphic from radical homosexual group Equality Illinois’ 2012 “Flick the Hate” campaign against Chick-fil-A. Many observers were shocked that any group would try to run a successful business OUT of Illinois, whose economy is suffering under long-running Democratic political dominance.

As you can see, Equality Illinois’ malicious campaign smeared Chick-fil-A and its COO, Dan Cathy, as representing “hate”–merely because Cathy disagreed publicly with “gay marriage.” EQ sought to petition stakeholders into cancelling their rental leases to the 19 Chick-fil-A restaurants then operating in Illinois. (Thankfully, they failed; there are now 32 C-f-A franchises in Illinois, according to the company’s website.) The EQ page reads, in part (emphasis theirs):

Chick-fil-A has 19 restaurants across Illinois, mostly on university campuses and in shopping malls. This petition will be give to key stakeholders in Illinois who lease, rent or allow Chick-fil-A to continue to sell their hate-filled homophobic “Chiken,” asking them to cut ties….

That kind of hate has no place in a business, especially in Illinois. It is a shame to be associated with such extreme intolerance and hate.

In 2005, LaBarbera Asked Dan Rutherford to Come Clean on Homosexuality

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014

Does renegade, pro-homosexual Illinois Republican politician have a conflict of interest?

“Do you agree that [your constituents] have a right to know if there is a special interest in your life that affects your voting record? From an integrity standpoint, I think the axiom is true: honesty is the best policy.” — Peter LaBarbera to then-St. Sen. Dan Rutherford (Republican-Pontiac, IL), 11/18/2004

                                                    *       *       *

Dan Rutherford was seen with his male partner, according to one Republican activist. He cast two key votes as State Senator for pro-homosexual legislation.

IL GOP gubernatorial candidate and Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford–widely rumored to be homosexual by activists in the GOP–cast two key votes as State Senator for pro-homosexual legislation. Rutherford is now being sued for sexual harassment by a male aide who says he was groped by the politician.

Homosexual newspaper Windy City Times to Dan Rutherford: “Is the Republican Party changing? Should it?”
Rutherford: “I think the party should change. I think the party should evolve. I think it’s going to take people like myself to help the party evolve. When I voted for the [pro-homosexual/pro-transgender] human rights bill in the early 90s, there was only a few of us. And when we moved forward to eventually pass it, there was more of us. And as we moved into consideration of the civil unions bill, there were some of us.

“Equality Illinois [the state’s leading homosexual activist group] was one of the hosts at the Republican National Convention for one of the receptions.”  — WCT interview with Rutherford, 8-6-13

_________________________________

Dear AFTAH Readers,

With reports that Illinois GOP gubernatorial candidate and Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford is being sued for sexual harassment by a male aide, I thought it important to reprint the two articles below–which originally appeared on the Illinois Family Institute (IFI) website in 2005–and which I wrote as then-Executive Director of IFI. The article (like many other older pieces) fell off the current IFI website following a overhaul of the site, and currently is not on the IFI site.

Since these articles were written, then-State Sen. Rutherford, having already helped the Democrats pass a homosexual “nondiscrimination” bill, went on to cast a second key Republican vote for a bill legalizing homosexual “civil unions.” The latter was a precursor to legalized homosexual “marriage” in the Land of Lincoln (the state “gay marriage” law takes effect June 1, 2014). Rutherford, who went on to become Illinois State Treasurer in 2011, never answered this writer’s query about alleged homosexuality–something which most men, especially those falsely accused like myself, find very easy to do. But he has offered curt and carefully-worded denials to others about being homosexual. This includes responding “No” to an oddly-worded “non-question” alluding to his alleged “gayness” in an interview with conservative Illinois Review editor Fran Eaton. (I’m afraid Eaton’s overly deferential, walking-on-eggshells approach–Rutherford answered “No” to “The Question” without her defining it–revealed more about the uncomfortableness surrounding homosexuality than it did about Rutherford’s past or present sexual lifestyle.)

Most recently in an interview last August with the Chicago homosexual newspaper, Windy City Times, Rutherford had this exchange with a reporter:

WCT: Your support for the LGBT has put you in the spotlight. Conservative bloggers have speculated you are gay. How do you define your sexual orientation?

Dan Rutherford: I’m not gay.

To which Chicago homosexual activist Robert Castillo responded: “Thanks for asking if he’s gay. You should have also asked if he is bisexual.”

Note that on every occasion of Rutherford being “questioned” about homosexuality, there are no follow-up questions (e.g., have you ever been in a homosexual relationship?)–and no probing into the meaning of words. (Many men who engage(d) in homosexual or bisexual behavior do not claim to be “gay”; there is even a term for it: men on the “down low.”) Also note that Rutherford’s continued advocacy of homosexuality in the Republican Party sets him apart from a person who may have engaged in homosexual behavior in the past but abandoned it–i.e., a repentant or recovered former homosexual. (Christians believe in the power of God through Christ to help people overcome that behaviorial sin pattern.)

On the conservative side, activists like Republican Chicago attorney and Republican News Watch founder Doug Ibendahl have long maintained that whether Rutherford ever admits it publicly or not, he is “gay.”

Encounter with Rutherford’s “partner”

Of course, there is the very real possibility that Rutherford–a politician, after all–is lying and dissembling about his aberrant sexual past and/or present so as not to hurt his prospects running in a Republican primary for governor.

A couple of years ago–long after my attempt at IFI to get Rutherford to clarify his sexuality–I had an interesting discussion with a veteran Illinois Republican activist, who told of meeting Rutherford “and his [male] partner” a number of years ago while travelling abroad. The man who accompanied Rutherford was clearly his partner, the activist said matter-of-factly. The activist source had no special animus toward Rutherford and worked with him as a GOP supporter, as with other ILGOP leaders.

Why should we care?

Why is any of this important? Because the people have a right to know if their public servant has a conflict of interest–and because honesty, morality and integrity matter. If Dan Rutherford has practiced a homosexual lifestyle–while advancing “gay” public policy goals in his role as a legislator (in defiance of the ILGOP and national Republican Party Platforms), it says something about his character. (As you can see, I am not a liberal.) And if he then lied and continues to lie or mislead about the matter, it says even more about his character.

Part Two: Christians Resolutions for 2014 – Fighting the LGBT Agenda

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is radically pro-homosexual in its ideology, but the data it produces on the extraordinary health risks of homosexual sex make a strong case for discouraging immoral “gay, lesbian, and bisexual” behaviors.

By Peter LaBarbera

WARNING: graphic descriptions of homosexual perversions

Here is Part Two of our 2014 Resolutions for Christians Fighting the Homosexual/Transgender Lobby. Part One — link to it HERE — included the following:

  1. Decide Whether You are with God or Against Him
  2. Apply the “Sexual Sin Substitution Test” (S3T) — substitute another sexual sin for “gay” and see if it makes sense. [This was by far the most popular based on the feedback we received! – Editor]
  3. Get Off the Sidelines and Start Speaking Out!
  4. Publicize Ex-”Gays” — the “Greatest Story Never Told” (by the Media)
  5. Reject LGBT Hate-Slurs (“Bigot, Hater and Homophobe”)

__________________________

6) Jesus Judged Sin, So You Can, Too (and You’re Judging Behavior): Regarding judging, first remember that we judge BAD BEHAVIORS all the time. It’s OK to judge! – as long as you’re not a sanctimonious, hypocritical jerk violating your own judgments and lacking God’s love and grace toward sinners. “But who am I to judge people who happen to be gay”? you ask. Answer: you are a follower of God, who reveals righteousness in His Word, the Bible. Besides, nobody just “happens to be gay” – and nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality recognized as a personal “identity” (see Point 7). The evil genius of the “gay” movement is that it turned a changeable sin into a proud, personal identity — one often embraced due to difficult or dysfunctional environmental circumstances in one’s childhood (including predatory sex abuse). Bottom line: God calls us to make right judgments on sin. The Secular- and Religious Left scream, “Judge Not!” but Jesus preached forgiveness of sin through humble repentance, such as when He told the adulteress, “Go and sin no more.” If Jesus didn’t approve of making righteous judgments, why did He praise John the Baptist as the greatest man every born – the same John the Baptist who publicly preached repentance from sin and even called out King Herod for his sexual sin? [See this interesting essay on King Herod and John the Baptist.] And isn’t it odd that the same pro-LGBT critics who scold us for judging “gays” JUDGE Bible-believing Christians all the time?! Here’s a terrific video by Frank Turek — a Christian who has suffered in the corporate world for opposing homosexual “marriage” — on proper “judging.”

7) Sodomy and Homosexual Behaviors Are Worthy of Judgment: Homosexuality is about “what people do,” not “who they are” (hence the existence of ex-“gays”; see point 4 in Part One). Perhaps you are ignorant of just how high-risk unnatural homosexual behaviors are: did you know that:

  • 94-95 percent of HIV cases among boys and young men ages 13-24 are linked to homosexual sex?
  • A “gay” doctor, Stephen Goldstone, described homosexual sodomy this way: “Think of his penis as a battering ram, one for which your internal sphincter is no match.”
  • The book HIV Essentials, written by “world renowned [HIV] experts,” reports, “The incidence of anal cancer in gay men is approximately 80 times that of the general population.”
  • Homosexual activist Jack Hart writes that “some practices common among gays – especially rimming [oral-anal perversion] and anal intercourse – are highly efficient ways of transmitting disease.”
  • Homosexual and bisexual men make up a whopping 75 percent of all syphilis cases
  • Bisexual men (including secretly homosexual men on the “down low”) are the main conduit for HIV to women in America — yet if a bisexual man transmits HIV to his girlfriend or wife, the CDC misleadingly classifies that as a “heterosexual” transmission;
  • Many lesbians mimic male homosexuals by engaging in anal perversions like “rimming” and “fisting” — and/or inserting “sex toys” like dildos (fake penises) into their partner’s anus (or vagina). Deviance begets deviance, and the godless “invent ways of doing evil” (Romans 1:30). Moreover, many lesbians report having sex with men.

Conservatives Stunned as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Backs ENDA

Thursday, December 12th, 2013

AFTAH in the News – Urge Gov. Walker to reconsider support for ‘Big Gay Government’ ENDA bill

“If Christians are already being persecuted under state and local gay rights laws, why would you support a federal gay rights law which is only going to give the homosexual lawyers more power to oppress people of faith?” — Peter LaBarbera, to One News Now, 12/10/13

________________________

TAKE ACTION: Contact Gov. Scott Walker and urge him to rethink his misguided endorsement of ENDA (the Employment Non-Discrimination Act) — which will only add to the burdens on small business owners and make it easier for government to punish businessmen who oppose “gay marriage” and the the agenda to normalize homosexuality and transgenderism.  1) Call the Governor’s Office at 608-266-1212 (or you can leave a message at his campaign office, “Friends of Scott Walker,” at 608-441-1640); 2) E-mail the governor through his office at govgeneral@wisconsin.gov; or 3) contact Gov. Walker through online Contact Page.

Dear AFTAH Readers,

Like many of you, I’m a big fan of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (Republican). He fought off the Left in that state and enacted some key fiscal reforms that have turned Wisconsin around. But I was stunned to see a Bloomberg Report where the Governor backed ENDA — the pro-homosexual, pro-transgender Employment Non-Discrimination Act — which will vastly grow homosexual/transgender activist power in the United States if it passes the House. (ENDA already passed in the Senate with the help of 10 Republicans; see vote tally HERE.)

There is a powerful push by LGBT activists and “moderate” Republicans to make the Party pro-homosexual. Every conservative I have told about Walker’s statement has been shocked by it — yes, “change” is coming fast and hard in the GOP. All Christians and pro-family Americans (even non-Republicans) should fight those working to erode the Party’s values. Please read this short report from our friends at American Family Association’s “One News Now” and TAKE ACTION TODAY to let the governor know that — perhaps without giving it much thought — he just endorsed a bill, ENDA, that is:

1) Anti-conservative
2) Anti-freedom
3) A major threat to religious liberty and freedom of conscience in America
4) Big Government liberalism in action.

Follow the “Take Action” steps above and urge Gov. Walker (phone: 608-266-1212) to rethink his position on ENDA! Thank you. — Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH.org

ENDA + traditional marriage = ‘healthy balance’ of rights?

Chad Groening   (OneNewsNow.com) Tuesday, December 10, 2013
Gov. Scott Walker

Gov. Scott Walker

A pro-family activist who works to expose the truth about homosexuality is deeply disappointed in Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s recent statement in defense of his state’s Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

In an appearance on Bloomberg TV last month, Governor Walker – whose name has come up in recent discussions as a possible GOP presidential candidate – praised the state’s non-discrimination protections for homosexual workers. The Republican leader also suggested that the U.S. House of Representatives should consider passing a federal ENDA because there have only been “limited problems” with it in Wisconsin. At the same time he also steadfastly defended the state’s ban on same-sex “marriage,” saying Wisconsin has struck a “healthy balance” of rights for LGBT people.

Peter LaBarbera, founder and president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, says Walker’s logic is flawed.

“First of all, people – especially Christians – are being persecuted all over the nation under these so-called ‘sexual orientation non-discrimination laws,'” he notes. “So if Christians are already being persecuted under state and local gay rights laws, why would you support a federal gay rights law which is only going to give the homosexual lawyers more power to oppress people of faith?”

LaBarbera hopes the governor will change his position on ENDA.

“I think he’s getting bad advice from the libertarians who basically want the Republican Party to jettison the social issues,” he suggests. “Governor Walker has to see that Christians and pro-family people of faith make up the grassroots conservative army that is the strength of the GOP. And so I hope he still changes his mind on this.”

LaBarbera says it’s sad to see many Republicans selling out when it comes to the homosexual rights agenda. He believes one can’t support ENDA and religious freedom at the same time.

AFTAH to Illinois Republicans: Demand a Public Apology from Sen. Mark Kirk for Discriminating Against ‘World Congress of Families’

Saturday, November 23rd, 2013

Americans For Truth Press Release

Sen_Mark_Kirk

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) took pro-homosexual pandering to new lows when he publicly disavowed the respected World Congress of Families, based in Rockford, IL, after “gay” activists protested him for securing a meeting room for the group on Capitol Hill.

AFTAH distributed the following release at former Congressman Joe Walsh’s town meeting for term limits November 23, 2013, in Elmhurst, Illinois:

Demand a Public Apology from Sen. Mark Kirk for Discriminating Against Rockford-Based World Congress of Families

Contact Sen. Kirk: (Wash, DC): 202-224-2854; Chicago: 312-886-3506

Thank Speaker John Boehner: 202-225-0600

______________________

Dear Republican or Conservative Advocate:

Call out Sen. Mark Kirk for cravenly bowing to left-wing, “gay” activists by using his good office to blatantly discriminate against one of the most respected pro-family organizations in the world – the World Congress of Families, based in Rockford, IL.

After a pressure campaign by LGBT activists (who are notoriously pro-Democrat), Sen. Kirk rescinded his senatorial “sponsorship” of a pro-family symposium by World Congress in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, set up through his office. (As a common courtesy in Washington, D.C., Senators and Congressmen secure meeting rooms for constituent groups.)

Kirk then added insult to injury by publicly disavowing World Congress and stating that he “doesn’t affiliate with groups that discriminate.” Apparently it was lost on Sen. Kirk that his petty act of anti-Christian bigotry constitutes anti-conservative “discrimination.” (Thankfully, House Speaker John Boehner stepped up to the plate and secured a meeting room for the World Congress symposium; thank Speaker Boehner HERE or call him at 202-225-0600.}

ALL Republicans – whether social conservatives or libertarians or those in between – should decry Mr. Kirk’s pandering to intolerant, “progressive” special interest lobbies, effectively acting like a liberal Democrat by suffocating civil debate in the service of Political Correctness. If Sen. Kirk were a Democrat, his mistreatment of World Congress and capitulation to leftist groupthink would be unconscionable. It is all the more so given that he is the purported leader of the Illinois Republican Party – which espouses principles of liberty and the defense of marriage and family. — Peter LaBarbera, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH)

AFTAH urges Illinois citizens and especially Republicans to:

Demand that Sen. Kirk Publicly Apologize to World Congress for His Public ‘Discrimination’ Against Illinois Conservatives!

Pat Brady Is on Way Out as Illinois Conservative Republicans Fight Against Corruption and Liberalism in GOP

Monday, April 15th, 2013
AFTAH defends natural marriage at IL-GOP Central Commitee meeting.

AFTAH defends natural marriage at Illinois Republican Party Central Committee meeting Saturday. Pat Brady is the outgoing head of the IL-GOP who angered the Party’s grassroots by outrageously embracing homosexuality-based “marriage.” Click on photo to enlarge.

By Peter LaBarbera

Hey folks, for half the day Saturday I stood inside the Tinley Park Convention Center with about 50 pro-family conservative Republicans — to protest at the quarterly Central Committee meeting against elitist corruption within the Illinois Republican Party. We were united against IL-GOP Chairman Pat Brady, who endorsed the (stalled) “same-sex marriage” bill despite the clear and principled IL-GOP platform stance affirming REAL marriage (see language below). Pro-family stalwart Karen Hayes and I held high an AFTAH banner that read, “Pat Brady Must Go; Marriage: One Man, One Woman,” and distributed an information Alert on “Why the IL-GOP Must Never Abandon its Pro-Natural Marriage Platform.”

It was exhilarating to stand with so many Illinois patriots, yet exhausting and aggravating as we were forced, like disobedient children, to wait three hours for a chance to make our voices heard to the assembled Committeemen. [Click HERE to watch a video of the exiled conservatives featuring activist Bill Kelly.] After the long wait, I and few others were finally allowed to make public comments (for just two minutes per person). But after fewer than 10 people had spoken Brady suddenly ended the session — again silencing the voices — if not the spirits — of some of the hardest-working Republicans in the state. They deserved much better.

As you can read from the Chicago Tribune account below, Brady was not voted out Saturday, but apparently he is being eased out within six weeks. After the meeting, a Central Committeeman told a group of us that “everybody got the message…There wasn’t a vote [on Brady] but there was a vote.” Translation: even GOP VIPs as notoriously out-of-touch with the grassroots as the men and women running Illinois’ Republican Party realize they can’t keep Brady at the helm for long.

And that is the best news I take away from Saturday’s dysfunctional GOP gathering: even in Illinois, where conservatives are as beaten down and disrespected as in few other states, principled Republicans and citizens (many Tea Partiers) are calling out their political “leaders” for abandoning time-tested moral values. And not just Republicans: don’t forget that it is pressure from pro-natural-marriage Democrats that has kept the Democrat-dominated General Assembly in Springfield from voting in counterfeit “gay marriage.”

One of the high points at the Tinley Park meeting occurred when a Republican official was reading from resolutions and actions just enacted by the Republican National Committee (RNC). The final RNC resolution he read was one reaffirming the national Republican Party plank defending natural marriage — and instantaneous and sustained applause erupted in the room. Clearly, supporting marriage as God ordains it — one man, one woman — is a very popular, foundational plank for Republicans. Ditching it would be a mistake of incalculable proportions — like the Party becoming “pro-choice” on abortion.
