LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews FRC’s Peter Sprigg on New ‘Gay’ Parenting Study – Part One

Friday, June 15th, 2012

This is Part One of a three-part interview with Peter Sprigg [click HERE to listen], Senior Fellow for Policy Studies at the Family Research Council. This podcast was recorded June 14, 2012. Sprigg is the author of “Outrage: How Gay Activists and Liberal Judges Are Trashing Democracy to Redefine Marriage” (Regnery, 2004), and is co-editor of the FRC book “Getting It Straight: What the Research Shows about Homosexuality.” The bulk of this interview deals with the new study on homosexual parenting” by University of Texas scholar Mark Regnerus, appearing in the journal Social Science Research (June 10, 2012). The study found dramatic differences between children raised in normal, mom-and-dad families and those raised in lesbian-led households. Sprigg is also on the Board of PFOX (Parents & Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays). Joining program host Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth is Pastor John Kirkwood of Grace Gospel Fellowship Church in Bensenville, IL.

Mike Heath Confronts ‘Sodomy-based Marriage’ in Maine

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Woman Strongly Disagrees During Heath Sermon and Walks Out

Mike Heath (left) and his wife, Paulie, with American Family Association founder Don Wildmon. This photo was taken in 2010.

Mike Heath is my good friend and the former Board Chairman of Americans For Truth. He’s also the former Executive Director (1994–2009) of the Christian Civic League of Maine — which, I might add, has become decidedly less boldly “Christian” — and less principled — with the departure of Mike and his talented staff a few years back. (That’s a long and fascinating story, but it needs to be told because it says a lot about what ails the presumptively “Christian pro-family movement” [quotes necessary].)

Anyway, Mike Heath [see website HERE] is also a heckuva good guy who — now that he is free of the burdens of “pro-family movement” politics (quotes necessary) — is more apt to tell it like it is than he was before. That’s saying something, because Mike was usually more honest about what’s at stake in the “Culture War” over homosexuality than most pro-family and conservative leaders, who are — I’ll just say it — pretty much intimidated, out-gunned and out-organized by the Homosexual Lobby and at a loss for how to stop it. (See this New England homosexual lobby group’s website to get an idea of what we are up against.)

I don’t necessarily share Mike’s views on the potential that come November Mainers will likely vote for “sodomy-based marriage,” as he calls it (Mike doesn’t fret about style like so many Chistians these days). But the fact that it is even a possibility speaks to the failed “pro-family” strategy of NOT focusing on Homosexuality in the battle over, yes, Homosexual so-called “Marriage.”

Elephant in the room? What elephant in the room?!

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews Dr. Patrick Wooden – Part Two

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Pastor Patrick Wooden speaks at last week's press conference highlighting the SPLC's anti-Christian "hate group" politics. The AFTAH banner reads: "SPLC: Stop Lying: Christianity is NOT 'HATE.'" Click on photo to enlarge slightly.

Here is Part Two of AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera’s interview with Dr. Patrick Wooden, pastor at Upper Room Church of God in Christ, in Raleigh, North Carolina [Click HERE to listen, and go HERE for Part One.] This was pre-recorded and aired Jan. 21, 2012. Wooden discusses the pastors’ press conference that he led denouncing the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate group” smear-campaign against pro-family groups, including Americans For Truth. Wooden addresses some of the homosexual activist criticisms of Part One of this interview — in which he touched on the destructive effects of practicing sodomitic perversion (which, he said, should not be compared to skin color). LaBarbera references a Wikipedia entry on “fecal incontinence” that cites this 1993 study on the ill effects of anal sex. They talk about the SPLC’s racist-tinged release on the AFTAH protest. And when Wooden brings up the heinous “gay” sex practice of “fisting,” LaBarbera recalls the 2000 Massachusetts “Fistgate” scandal at a conference sponsored by the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network — in which homosexual youth were given verbal “how-to” instructions by adults on “fisting” (hand-arm-rectal “sex”). LaBarbera notes that GLSEN never issued a sincere, strong apology for the incident — and the media double standard that excuses and ignores scandals on the Left.

Press Conf.: Black Pastors Confront Southern Poverty Law Center for Smearing as ‘Hate Groups’ Pro-Family Organizations Opposed to Homosexual Agenda

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Americans For Truth Press Release

January 16, 2012

Contact: Peter LaBarbera; americansfortruth@gmail.com

Raleigh pastor Dr. Patrick Wooden rejects the comparison of black civil rights to sinful and unnatural homosexual behavior.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama – A coalition of African American pastors and pro-family Christian and Jewish leaders is holding a press conference at noon tomorrow (the day after Martin Luther King Day) outside the headquarters of the Southern Poverty Law Center — to protest the SPLC’s smearing of pro-family groups that oppose homosexual activism as “hate groups”:

WHERE:  Outside the SPLC headquarters, 400 Washington Ave., Montgomery, Alabama

WHEN:  Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, noon, Central Standard (Montgomery, AL) Time

WHO:  Scheduled speakers:

  • Peter LaBarbera, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), Chicago, IL (the SPLC has smeared AFTAH as a “hate group”);
  • Dr. Patrick Wooden, pastor, Upper Room Church of God in Christ (COGIC), Raleigh, NC;
  • DL Foster, founder, Gay Christian Movement Watch, Atlanta, GA;
  • Matt Barber, Director of Cultural Affairs, Liberty Counsel, Lynchburg, VA;
  • Tim Johnson, Fredrick Douglass Foundation, Washington, D.C.;
  • Rachel Conner, representing Abiding Truth Ministries (smeared by SPLC as a “hate group”)
  • Pastor Glen Sawyer, New Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, Elizabeth City, NC
  • Pastor Wil Nichols, Victorious Praise Fellowship COGIC, Durham, NC
  • Pastor Jon Robinson, Kingdom C.O.M.E. Ministries, Clairton, PA
  • Pastor Kenneth Jefferson, Greater Harvest COGIC

The following pro-family leaders and groups will issue supporting statements:

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans For Truth, which is sponsoring the press event, recently interviewed Pastor Wooden, who said that the SPLC’s gambit of labeling mainstream pro-family groups that oppose homosexual activism as “hate groups” is seriously damaging the SPLC’s credibility. Wooden also debunked the “civil rights” analogy used by “gay” activists, saying it is wrong to compare “my beautiful blackness” with homosexual perversion.

LaBarbera said the SPLC is engaged in a thinly-veiled, one-sided campaign to demonize adherents of traditional Judeo-Christian morality. He noted that despite the considerable hatred and anti-Christian bigotry emanating from homosexual activists (e.g., Dan Savage’s vile hate-site, Santorum[dot]com), the SPLC has never labeled a “gay” organization or website as “hateful.”

VIDEO: ‘Transphobic’ New Zealand Tampon TV Commercial Yanked after Transsexual Protest

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

“It’s extremely offensive because it’s pretty much saying the only way you can be a woman is to get your period.

“That’s where a lot of the anger in the community is coming from – it’s saying you are not a woman unless you can get your period.

“Obviously we can’t menstruate. However, we identify as female.” — New Zealand “Transgender” activist Cherise Witerhire, biological male, president of Agender New Zealand, as quoted in New Zealand Herald

Folks, the war against Nature continues into the New Year. Leave it to the transgender movement — the gender-confused “T” in LGBT — to find men who actually regret that they can’t menstruate! It’s only the 3rd of January but we already have a sure contender for the most ridiculous LGBT story and quotation of 2012: New Zealand (male) transssexuals expressing outrage over what they say is a “blatantly transphobic” tampon commercial. Hat tip to Michael Brown for sending us this gem from the New Zealand Herald, describing Transgender activist outrage at a New Zealand feminine hygiene company’s tampon ad. Needless to say in our Politically Correctness-soaked world, the hilarious ad was quickly pulled.) [More commentary after video.]

Promoting homosexuality now is old hat to modern liberals. Fighting “transphobia” — hey, that’s where the action is. Watch for a year of shameless promotion of gender confusion by cultural elites in the media, Hollywood and academia. For a fresh alternative perspective, check out our extended radio interview with Walt Heyer, an ex-transsexual-turned faithful Christian who went through a horrific “sex-change” operation but who now warns men and women not to go down that road. Hillary Clinton’s ‘Gay’ UN Speech Promotes Homosexuality in the Name of Human Rights

Sunday, December 18th, 2011

Hillary falsely compares race to homosexuality

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has used the office to promote the acceptance of homosexuality and transgenderism abroad.

To read AFTAH’s press release on the new Obama/Clinton policy of using U.S. aid and power to advance homosexuality-based “rights,” go HERE. That link also contains a YouTube of Hillary Clinton’s UN speech.

Hillary Clinton’s “Human Rights Day” Speech

By Laurie Higgins, reprinted from Illinois Family Institute; originally published 12/8/11

On Dec. 6, 2011 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered a speech in honor of International Human Rights Day which is celebrated on Dec. 10, the date in 1948 when the United Nations formally adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. But as we should have expected from a representative of the fervently pro-perversion Obama Administration, Clinton used the occasion to promulgate unproven, liberal assumptions about homosexuality and Gender Identity Disorder (GID).

With the usual cunning of the Left, Clinton begins her speech by referring to the “beating, terrorizing, and executing” of homosexuals, but then with some skillful bait-and-switch rhetoric, she starts talking about undefined “discrimination.” Such a speech would be justified if Clinton were actually concerned only with real human rights abuses such as draconian laws that call for the execution of homosexuals or for acts of violence ignored by police. But anyone familiar with the incoherent world of “progressivism,” understands that moral disapproval of homosexual acts becomes “discrimination” which ineluctably results in “bullying” or “terrorizing.”

Clinton’s repeated use of the absurd comparison of race to homosexuality reveals that intelligence is no guarantee of wisdom. Even really smart people often hold ignorant and foolish ideas. Whereas race is 100 percent heritable, in all cases immutable, and has no behavioral implications that are amenable to moral evaluation, homosexuality is not biologically determined, is in some cases changeable, and is constituted by volitional acts that are legitimate objects of moral evaluation. Someone should ask Clinton to explain the ways she believes race is analogous to homosexuality.

I Am Not Afraid of the ‘Big, Bad H’ (Homosexuality)

Friday, November 4th, 2011
Karen Norling

By Karen Norling, for Americans For Truth

I’d like to tell you about three of my longtime friends–David, Marcia, and Sean–as well as my “double” cousin, Michael, and one of my college professors, Prof. Hathaway.

David entered my life in 1974, shortly after he befriended my older brother, Jon. I was 10; David was 13. Even if David hadn’t become my foster brother, he still would have been a “brother” to me.  I’ll never forget the mornings we walked to the bus stop together, amidst the sub-zero chill of Michigan’s December, the sun-bathed breezes of May. Neither will I forget our unabashed moments of silliness, nor the seriousness with which we debated the issues of the day. Though we’ve lived nearly 3,000 miles apart for many, many years, due to my having moved to California in 1982, we are as close as ever in our hearts.

Marcia entered my life, and became my dear friend, in 1978.  She may have been nearly as old my mother, but that never mattered to me–or to her. Much to my delight, she quickly developed an interest in my poetry and even to this day asks me to send her copies of my latest work. Despite the miles that have separated us for more than three decades, we think of each other often and continue to keep in touch.

Sean entered my life in 1983, when I attended West Valley College in Saratoga. He was my assigned creative-writing tutor.  Sean is one of the most compassionate, considerate men I’ve ever known. My relationship with him is very special, for it is based on trust, respect, and steadfast encouragement: we trust each other to keep one another’s “confidences”; we respect each other’s opinions–even when we staunchly disagree; and we encourage each other, honestly, to spend the rest of our (earthly) lives realizing our God-given potential.

My “double” cousin, Michael, was born six years before I was, but I can remember his side-splitting antics all the way back to first grade.  I could hardly wait to see him whenever I learned that he and his brothers were coming for a visit.  Indeed, he never ceased to make me laugh from the moment he arrived to the moment he said “goodbye.”  If only he had lived closer and could have come more often, I could have spent that much more of my childhood “rolling” joyously on the proverbial “floor.”

Professor Hathaway entered my life in 1990–while I was working toward my Bachelor’s at Cal. State, Stanislaus. She was unusually engaging in front of the class and expected each of her students to work as hard as they could to obtain the highest grades possible.  As such, she taught me a great deal about writing–in only one semester.

Why have I told you about David, Marcia, Sean, Michael and Prof. Hathaway?  I’ve told you about them because they have something in common: they are homosexuals.

Homosexual Activists Pressure PayPal to Drop AFTAH and other Family Organizations as ‘Hate’ Groups

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Help defend AFTAH against latest example of homo-fascism

Click on graphic to enlarge. Homosexual web activist website "All Out" lobbies PayPal to drop AFTAH and other pro-family groups as alleged "anti-LGBT extremists." The petition reads, "PayPal must act immediately to shut down their accounts and ban all sites that promote anti-LGBT hate."

TAKE ACTION NOW: a new homosexual web campaign is urging the internet payment company PayPal to drop AFTAH and other pro-family organizations as so-called “extremists” that “promote anti-LGBT hate.” Please help defend Americans For Truth from being dropped by PayPal in response to this anti-Christian pressure campaign.

1) Go to PayPal’s website and make a much-needed gift to AFTAH to support our work. Or do so through the AFTAH website at www.americansfortruth.com/donate/. Mail a check to AFTAH, PO Box 5522, Naperville, IL 60567-5522.

2) Write or call PayPal and urge them to STAND FOR FREEDOM and NOT give in to this intolerant pressure campaign by homosexual activists; use PayPal’s online “Comment Card” HERE, or post a note to the PayPal blog.  Or use their Contact Page HERE (note, the latter seems to favor comments by people holding a PayPal account).  Here is the Contact Page for PayPal’s parent company, e-BAY Inc.

Please THANK PayPal for initially siding with religious freedom so far [as reported HERE by the homosexual website Pink News] and not abruptly caving to All Out’s demands.  Urge them NOT to punish Christian and pro-family advocates – which could potentially alienate millions of potential PayPal customers.

3) Also, sign the LifeSiteNews petition to PayPal defending AFTAH and other pro-family targets by going here: http://www.profamilyfreedom.net/

4) Send this message to your friends and contact list to educate them on the anti-Christian and censorious nature of the homosexual movement. “Gay” activists no longer want “Tolerance”; now they want Dominance even if it means smearing pro-family people as “haters” and destroying our cherished religious freedoms.

Dear AFTAH Reader,

Every day brings more evidence that the Homosexual Lobby is all about kicking pro-morality people (mostly committed Christians) who disagree with homosexual behavior OUT of the public square. More and more observers are seeing this for what it is: homo-fascism. Last week we learned of a homosexual web campaign called “All Out” that is targeting the payment service company PayPal for doing business with Americans For Truth and nine other groups — which it smears as “extremists” who “promote anti-LGBT “hate.” Here is the wording of their All Out petition:
