Michael Steele’s False Comparison between Race and HomosexualityMarch 13th, 2009
TAKE ACTION: Call or e-mail Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele (202-863-8700; chairman@gop.com) and kindly inform him that it is erroneous to equate unchangeable skin color with changeable homosexuality. There are no “ex-Blacks.” There are many ex-homosexuals. Also remind him of the perils of using self-serving feminist terms (“choice”) to describe abortion, the taking of innocent unborn life. (For guidance see Ken Ervin’s excellent column below and AFTAH Board Member Matt Barber’s comments on One News Now HERE.) _______________________________________________ Steele’s Aim Off on Social IssuesBy Ken Ervin Originally posted on CWA’s website, 3/13/2009 He also demonstrates a woefully misinformed view of the homosexual lifestyle. “I don’t think I’ve ever really subscribed to that view that you can turn it on and off like a water tap,” says Steele. “You just can’t simply say, oh, like, ‘Tomorrow morning I’m gonna stop being gay.’ It’s like saying ‘Tomorrow morning I’m gonna stop being black.'” Read the rest of this article » Liberal West Virginia Lawmakers Again Seek ‘Civil Rights’ Status for HomosexualityMarch 12th, 2009Help Kevin McCoy stop West Virgnia ENDA bills

The ‘Bottom’ Line: Behavior IS the Issue and Sodomy Is DisgustingMarch 11th, 2009There is no dignity in practicing perversionBy Peter LaBarbera Folks, I e-mail back-and-forth frequently with “Gerald,” a committed critic of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality. Below, Gerald reacts to our piece, reprinted from the Urban Dictionary, on the definition of “Power Bottom” (yuck). Per the usual, AFTAH received the kill the messenger (or maybe mock the messenger) treatment from “gay” apologists like Jeremy Hooper, a New York City blogger. The poor homosexual activists, their minds reprobate and sold out to sexual sin, can’t understand our purpose: to expose the real (destructive and wicked) behaviors associated with homosexuality lifestyles (and yes, there are many different lifestyles, not one “gay lifestyle”). We post items like this because the public discussion about homosexuality has moved so far away from the actual behaviors associated with homosexuality. We’re trying to bring people back to the reality of what we oppose — and away from euphemistic abstractions (e.g., “gay civil rights” and “marriage equality”). Try this, painful as it is: go back and read the “‘Power Bottom’ Defined” post and see if you don’t gain a better understanding of why God through His Word pronounces homosexual acts “detestable.” See if you don’t perceive homosexuality as more about “human wrongs” than “human rights.” Only a person committed to practicing or justifying deviance, or a zealous libertine, can’t see it. (And yes, we also oppose heterosexual anal “sex” — and lesbian-lesbian simulated anal “sex”: there’s not much to be said for imitating male homosexual sodomy, a causative factor for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.) Dear AFTAH Readers, We will have more in the coming weeks on controversial Grove City College associate professor Warren Throckmorton, who has strayed far from a Biblical worldview on homosexuality, and far from the mission of his employer. (Grove City College’s mission statement affirms that the college “remains true to the vision of its founders. Rejecting relativism and secularism, it fosters intellectual, moral, spiritual, and social development consistent with a commitment to Christian truth, morals, and freedom.”) AFTAH has written previously on Throckmorton, including this story. TAKE ACTION: spread the word about the student walkout to protest the pro-homosexual-activist “Day of Silence” — on Friday, April 17 –by GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network). Find out if your children’s (middle or high) school is endorsing the Day of Silence by allowing students (or teachers) to go “silent” during class time — thus disrupting the learning environment of all students. IMPORTANT CAUTIONARY NOTE: from Laurie Higgins of Illinois Family Institute: “Do not ask any administrator, school board member, or teacher if the school sponsors, endorses, or supports DOS. Schools do not technically sponsor the Day of Silence. Technically, it is students, often students in the Gay-Straight Alliance, who sponsor it. Many administrators will tell you that they do not sponsor the DOS when, in fact, they do permit students and sometimes even teachers to remain silent during instructional time. Also ask administrators whether they permit teachers to create lesson plans to accommodate student silence.” Higgins also suggests e-mailing your child’s teachers individually to see how they are handling the “Day of Silence” protest. There is a wealth of good information available on the Day of Silence Walkout at IFI’s website. ________________________ Note from Peter LaBarbera: Folks, it’s no secret that American public schools are failing at teaching the basics. So they need to get out of the values-adjustment (or should I say values-subversion) business. The “Day of Silence” is a thinly-veiled attempt to propagandize students using the time-tested technique of hyping homosexuals as victims. The “gay-victim” gig is getting very old, especially when one considers that the homosexual lobby is in the vanguard of: viciously demonizing Christians like Dr. James Dobson and equating religious moral teachings with “hate”; working to deny Christians the right to live by their own moral code; and “silencing” viewpoints with which they disagree. Here is more evidence that historic American religious freedoms and homosexual “superior rights” (masquerading as civil rights) are incompatible. Activists on the left love to decry “book banning” but they are the ones doing the “Christian banning” — at least on college campuses. We’ll be happy to report those pro-homosexual activists who join us in decrying this assault on religious liberty in academia. FIRE and Campus Bible Fellowship are wonderful organizations worthy of your support. — Peter LaBarbera, www.aftah.com ____________________________________ March 2, 2009 Wright State U. Bans Christian Group from CampusFoundation for Individual Rights (FIRE) Press Release DAYTON, Ohio, March 2, 2009—Wright State University has banned a Christian group from meeting on campus because of its requirement that voting members be Christian and its refusal to accept “nondiscrimination” language that would eliminate faith-based standards for its voting members. In response, the Campus Bible Fellowship has turned to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) for help. “A Christian group has the right to be Christian, a Jewish group has the right to be Jewish, and a Muslim group has the right to be Muslim,” said FIRE President Greg Lukianoff. “Courts have affirmed this principle time and time again. It is shocking that in a free society, public universities like Wright State still don’t seem to understand or respect this crucial component of religious liberty.” Read the rest of this article » |
