Pastor Rick Warren Comes Out Strongly for Prop 8 in California

October 28th, 2008

“Every culture for 5,000 years and every religion for 5,000 years has said the definition of marriage is between one man and a woman”

rick_warren_prop_8.jpgCheck out Pastor Rick Warren’s video statement in support of the proposed California Prop 8 amendment to preserve the age-old definition of marriage: http://saddlebackfamily.com/blogs/newsandviews/index.html?contentid=1502. I have something to say about the media coverage of homosexual “marriage” issue during the presidential campaign — and the key distinctions between the candidates’ positions that were not clarified for the public — but I have to wait until after the election to say it (due to IRS rules for non-profits). Until then, thanks to Pastor Warren for defending truth on this vital issue. — Peter LaBarbera, www.aftah.org.

Tony Perkins of Family Research Council Action writes (emphasis added):

With one week to shore up support for Proposition 8, our friends in California got a much-needed boost from best-selling author and pastor Rick Warren. Nationally known for his book The Purpose Driven Life, the popular founder of Saddleback Church announced his unequivocal support for traditional marriage in a video message to supporters. In it he says, “We support Proposition 8. And if you believe what the Bible says about marriage, you need to support Proposition 8. …[T]he universal, historic definition of marriage [is] one man and one woman, for life. And every culture for 5,000 years and every religion for 5,000 years has said the definition of marriage is between one man and a woman. …This is not even just a Christian issue, it is a humanitarian and human issue, that God created marriage for the purpose of family, love and procreation. I urge you to support Proposition 8 and to pass that on.”

What ‘Gay Marriage’ Has Done to Massachusetts

October 22nd, 2008

Folks, this is an outstanding piece by my good friend Brian Camenker – who is in my view the most principled and effective pro-family advocate in (the People’s Republic of) Massachusetts.  Please read it carefully and disseminate it as widely as possible.  This is also a tutorial of sorts on the cascading ill effects of a state embracing homosexuality as a “civil right.”  Please support the fine work of MassResistance. God bless.—Peter LaBarbera, www.americansfortruth.com

P.S. Check out this AFTAH article to see the face of real diversity, as people of various ethnicities and religions unite to oppose a homosexual “special rights” law in Hamtramck, Michigan.

What same-sex “marriage” has done to Massachusetts

It’s far worse than most people realize

by Brian Camenker

[Note: As the debate on this issue rages in states across the country, most people are unaware of what’s really happened here. Get ready for an eye-opener.]

Anyone who thinks that same-sex “marriage” is a benign eccentricity which won’t affect the average person should consider what it has done in Massachusetts. It’s become a hammer to force the acceptance and normalization of homosexuality on everyone. And this train is moving fast. What has happened so far is only the beginning.

Muslims, Catholics, Buddhists, Evangelicals and Hindus Unite Against Hamtramck Gay-rights Ordinance

Hamtramck Citizens Voting NO to Special Rights Discrimination

Click on photo to enlarge. Opposition to homosexuality- and gender-confusion-based “sexual orientation” laws is something that all committed religious people can agree on — because these laws invariably oppress religious people’s freedom to live out their beliefs. At right is multi-religious, multi-ethnic rally held Oct. 12 in Hamtramck, Michigan against a proposed “gender identity”-inclusive homosexual law.

Dear Readers,

It always strikes me as odd to see homosexual activists aligning themselves with American Muslims, who oppose homosexual practice as sinful in accordance with the religion, like faithful Christians and Bible-believing Jews. These photos from a rally in Hamtramck, Michigan reflect the appropriate political/sociological equation against homosexual activism: religious people (and moral people who are irreligious) cannot abide “rights” based on same-sex misbehavior (sin). In fact, as we’re seeing in California (where Christian doctors will now be forced to perform artificial inseminations for lesbians) and across the nation, the very outworking of government-enforced homosexuality-based “rights” is to oppress religious freedom.

Americans will have to decide whether creating aberrant-sex- and gender-confusion-based “rights” — including “same-sex marriage” and its cowardly cousin, “civil unions” — is worth trampling on the historic religious and First Amendment freedoms that have defined the American republic since its beginning.  –Peter LaBarbera, www.aftah.org

Ex-Log Cabin Republican Leader Takes over Pro-Homosexual-‘Marriage’ Effort – Cal. Teachers Ass’n Pledges $1 Million to ‘No on 8’

October 17th, 2008

Counterfeit marriage campaign pushes hard for $$$ amidst new polls showing Prop 8 ahead

The following was reported by the Gay and Lesbian Leadership SmartBrief regarding the California Marriage Protection Amendment, Proposition 8, and the No on 8 homosexual counter-campaign to defeat it (emphasis is added). Patrick Guerriero, a Massachusetts homosexual activist who used to run the Log Cabin Republicans, is now on loan to “No on 8” from the Gill Action Fund, which has worked to take out Republican pro-family legislators across the nation. All this provides more evidence that Log Cabin, with its tiny membership of 20,000 nationwide, sees its strategic priority as advancing homosexuality first, and the Republican Party second. And what a shocker this: the California Teachers Association and Hollywood elites oppose traditional marriage:

Guerriero: LGBT Californians must give to stop marriage ban

Veteran activist Patrick Guerriero, who is the new director of California’s “No on 8” campaign, said the key to defeating the constitutional marriage ban lies with securing the financial backing of the state’s estimated 1 million LGBT residents. “If every single LGBT adult would, over the next couple of days, make a donation to this campaign, we will win,” he said. “And if they don’t, we will lose.” Advocate.com (10/15)

Hollywood, teachers union muster funds to defeat Proposition 8: Barbra Streisand and actor-director Rob Reiner are among the Hollywood celebrities expected to attend a $25,000-a-plate fundraiser to support the “No on 8” effort on Tuesday at the Los Angeles home of billionaire Ron Burkle. In related news, the California Teachers Association, the state’s largest teachers union, has pledged $1 million to the campaign to defeat the marriage ban, and producer Steve Bing is giving $500,000, the biggest individual donation thus far from the entertainment industry. Another Presidential Non-Debate on Homosexual ‘Marriage’

October 16th, 2008

‘Gay’ agenda not raised in three presidential debates — but don’t just blame the media …

mccain-obama_debate.jpgBy Peter LaBarbera

OK, now it’s official. In three presidential debates to help us decide which man – John McCain or Barack Obama – will lead this nation, the critical issue of homosexual “marriage” didn’t even come up.

Add to that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the federal “hate crimes” bill and Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA), homosexuality in the military, how “gay rights” laws threaten religious and other freedoms, and homosexual adoption of children.

On each of these issues, Obama and McCain strongly disagree, but we never (or barely) got to hear them explain their positions on the same stage – in contrast to Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church debate where at least “gay marriage” was discussed. The only time that homosexuality was raised in the four official debates, including the vice-presidential debate, was when moderator Gwen Ifill asked a poorly constructed question about same-sex benefits and then “gay marriage” to Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden.

The issue of judicial appointments did come up but certainly has received far less attention than it deserves since judges are setting now policy in this country.

Do you feel as gypped as I do by the combination of media bias, campaign jingoism and political correctness that resulted in one of the most important issues facing our nation — whether marriage should be radically redefined to accommodate “rights” based on homosexual behavior – not even being mentioned in the official debates?

Homosexual Group ‘Log Cabin Republicans’ Has Measly 20,000 Members Nationwide

October 14th, 2008

… So why are Republicans nationwide working so hard to court this activist gay group that opposes Prop 8 and the party’s platform on defending marriage?

log_cabin_anti_prop_8.JPG Scott Schmidt of the Los Angeles Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) stands beside “Vote No on Prop 8” sign in photo for the Los Angeles Independent. California LCR activists are working hard to defeat Prop 8, which would reinstate the historic definition of marriage in the state. Schmidt says that Log Cabin has just 20,000 members nationwide — yet many Republican politicians and strategists treat them as if they are as important a constituency as the millions of pro-family and religious Republicans who actually support — rather than undermine — the GOP’s marriage platform.

[Take Action: send this story to every Republican you know]

By Peter LaBarbera, www.aftah.org

Dear Readers,

This just in: the Log Cabin Republicans — a homosexual activist group that gets mostly sympathetic media attention and is actively courted by Republican leaders — has all of 20,000 members nationwide.

Yep, 20,000 members, according to an interview by Log Cabin-L.A. activist Scott Schmidt with the Los Angeles Independent. That’s about the size of two or three evangelical mega-churches, or the population of, say, Liberal, Kansas.

LCR’s puniness only accentuates the folly of the GOP “Big Tent” policies that seek to appease the party’s conservative base of millions of pro-family, pro-traditional-marriage Republicans — while simultaneously “reaching out” to a tiny sliver of Republican homosexual activists in the name of “inclusion.” It should be noted that like other homosexual activists, Log Cabin activists talk a lot about tolerance even as they routinely denigrate religious conservatives opposed to their pro-homosexuality agenda as being guilty of “hate” and “bigotry.”

This year, Log Cabin is working hand in hand with Democratic and liberal “gay” advocates to defeat Proposition 8 in California, which merely restores the state’s previous, ancient definition of marriage as one-man, one-woman after thousands of years of tradition on marriage was effectively ruled “unconstitutional” by California’s highest court.

Field Trip Takes First-Graders to San Francisco City Hall for Lesbian ‘Wedding’

October 13th, 2008

‘Teachable moment,’ San Francisco public school-style

lesbian_counterfeit_marriage_sfchron.jpg

The San Francisco Chronicle ran this photo Oct. 11 by photographer Mike Kepka showing first-grade students from a local public grade school cheering their teacher’s lesbian “wedding.” This homosexual “marriage” “field trip” occurred just eight days after the Chronicle editorialized against the “fear tactics” used by pro-Proposition 8 forces in defending their proposed amendment preserving marriage in California as between a man and a woman. The newspaper had mocked a Prop 8 TV ad on the adverse effects of legal “gay marriage,” stating: “People would be sued on the basis of their personal beliefs! Churches would lose their tax-exempt status! Gay marriage would be taught in public schools!” The troubling photo above certainly contradicts the Chronicle editorial’s assertion that, “Public schools certainly would teach that same-sex marriage is legal, and the history behind it. But the value judgments surrounding matters of marriage and family would remain in the domain of home and church as they are today.” The school’s principal justified the lesbian-wedding excursion as a “field trip” by describing it as a “teachable moment” for the young students. Watch the shocking Chronicle video-story by clicking HERE.

Note: to see more photos of this lesbian-“marriage” field trip, and a short video, see the Chronicle story, “Class surprises lesbian teacher on wedding day.”

Protect Marriage Press Release

First Graders Taken to San Francisco City Hall for Gay ‘Wedding’

SAN FRANCISCO, October 11 /Christian Newswire/ — In the same week that the No on 8 campaign launched an ad that labeled as “lies” claims that same-sex marriage would be taught in schools to young children, a first grade class took a school-sponsored trip to a gay wedding. Eighteen first graders traveled to San Francisco City Hall Friday for the wedding of their teacher and her lesbian partner, The San Francisco Chronicle reported. The school sponsored the trip for the students, ages 5 and 6, taking them away from
their studies for the same-sex wedding. According to the Yes on 8 campaign, the public school field trip demonstrates that the California Supreme Court’s decision to legal same- sex marriage has real consequences.

Four Judges Force Same-Sex ‘Marriage’ on Connecticut

October 11th, 2008

fols_08_illegitimate_love.jpgHomosexual so-called “marriage” is wrong first and foremost because homosexual behavior and relationships are always wrong. Marriage was given by God to celebrate His divine plan of uniting man and woman to create a family and reflect Christ’s love for His Church — not to bless “unions” based on sinful and deviant sexuality. Any church that blesses “gay marriage” or same-sex relationships is a false church. And government recognition of counterfeit same-sex “marriage” will force such arrangements to be taught as normal to young students. It also will force small businesses to subsidize sodomy-based “marriages” with company benefits — like they do with normal, married employees. Thankfully, God through Christ has delivered thousands of men and women from homosexuality. This photo was taken Sept. 28 by AFTAH at the Folsom Street Fair, a massive outdoor deviant sex celebration in San Francisco. Click on photo (twice) to enlarge.– Peter LaBarbera

Below are messages sent out yesterday (Oct. 10, 2008) by the Ohio-based Citizens for Community Values (CCV), and the Family Institute of Connecticut Action (FIC). CCV led the effort to pass the Marriage Protection Amendment referred to below — which is one of the strongest such amendments in terms of its coverage nationwide

Pray for our nation!

Four judges force same-sex marriage on Connecticut

In yet another tragic usurpation of legislative authority, four judges in the Connecticut Supreme Court today redefined marriage for all the residents of that state. Four agenda-driven judges have distorted the Biblical truth of marriage as the union of one man and one woman only – the truth that has been recognized by every thriving society since the beginning of civilization.

By a 4-3 majority, the Connecticut Supreme Court today ruled that the Connecticut law banning same-sex marriage, a law put in place by the citizens’ elected representatives, was unconstitutional. Connecticut thereby joins Massachusetts and California as the only states that have rejected the truth of marriage by accepting “same-sex marriages.” In both of those other states, as well, same-sex marriage was forced upon citizens by four out-of-control judges acting contrary to the expressed will of the people.
