AFTAH Interviews David Smith of Illinois Family Institute on Defeat of Homosexual ‘Marriage’ Bill – Part One

June 12th, 2013
Dave Smith of Ilinois Family Institute led the grassroots campaign to stop a homosexual "marriage" bill in Illinois.

Dave Smith of Ilinois Family Institute led the grassroots campaign to stop a homosexual “marriage” bill in Illinois. The bill was stalled despite Democrats possessing super-majority control of both House and Senate.

This is Part One of our interview with David Smith [click HERE to listen], Executive Director of Illinois Family Institute, which led the grassroots, pro-family coaltion effort to stall a homosexual ”marriage” bill, SB 10, in Illinois. (Proponents of the bill, lacking the votes, did not call it for a vote by May 31, the last day of the legislative session. However, SB 10, which passed the Senate, remains alive to be called when legislators are back in session, through the lame-duck session in January 2015.) This interview was recorded June 6, 2012. Smith tells AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and co-host John Kirkwood that the key to victory was the diverse grassroots opposition to the bill, especially the strong opposition from Black and Latino Christians. He describes how half the Black legislators in Springfield (all Democrats) ultimately declined to back the homosexual “marriage” bill, and calls its failure to pass in an Illinois General Assembly with Democratic super-majorities in both House and Senate a “miracle.” Smith also notes the well-funded lobby campaign on behalf of the same-sex “marriage” bill — including dozens of paid lobbyists – which far surpassed (monetarily speaking) that of pro-family advocates for natural, man-woman marriage. He said that the ability of grassroots citizens to stop SB 10 “marriage” in deep-blue, Democratic-dominated Illinois shows that “gay” activists and pundits are wrong in asserting that the national triumph of homosexuality-based “marriage” is “inevitable.”

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews Mormon Stephen Graham – Part Two – Criticizes LDS’ Acceptance of Openly Homosexual Boy Scouts

June 8th, 2013
Stephen Graham, a Mormon, says his Church is wrong to embrace open homosexuality in the Boy Scouts of America.

Stephen Graham, a Mormon, says his Church is wrong to embrace open homosexuality in the Boy Scouts of America.

This is Part Two of our interview with Stephen Graham [click HERE to listen], founder and president of the Utah-based Standard of Liberty. It was recorded May 25, 2013. Graham, a Mormon, criticizes his Church’s stance on the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) embrace of openly homosexual boys as members. A montage of audio is played from the BSA’s May 24 press conference announcing passage of the pro-homosexual change — in which Scout executives acclaim the historic shift as advancing the goal of serving more kids in Scouting.

Graham tells how after the decision, his adult son has resigned from his longtime affiliation with a local Scout troop (as assistant Scoutmaster) over the policy change. He reads from an e-mail his son received from his bishop (with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) — using spiritual language to urge Graham’s son to reconsider his decision. Stephen Graham laments the pro-homosexual drift of LDS authorities, but asserts that most Mormons will follow their Church’s new, more “gay”-affirming direction – because LDS members generally bow to their leaders’ decisions. Nevertheless, he says that adhering to principle – in this case not affirming a deviant sexual identity to boys — will lead some, like him, to reject the LDS’ pronouncements in this area.

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews LDS Utah Activist Stephen Graham on Mormon Church Backpedaling on Homosexual Agenda – Part One

May 17th, 2013
Stephen Graham

Stephen Graham

After a hiatus, AFTAH is back on the air. This podcast [click HERE to listen], recorded May 16, 2013, is Part One of our interview with Mormon pro-family activist Stephen Graham, founder of Standard of Liberty, a group based in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Graham discusses the Mormon Church’s (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) retreat on the homosexualist agenda — especially after the LDS Church was hammered by the pro-”gay” Left for funding and supporting the Prop 8 constitutional amendment to protect marriage in California as one-man, one-woman. At about the 8:18 point on this audio, Graham cuts to the root of the Mormon pullback in resisting the overarching ”gay” agenda (including “same-sex marriage”): a fear that bad publicity will limit the ability of its farflung missionaries to engage potential converts.

Graham describes his disappointment with Mormon Church leaders for failing to stand resolutely against the liberalization of the current Boy Scouts of America (BSA) policy prohibiting openly homosexual Scouts. AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera, co-host John Kirkwood and Graham agree that had LDS leaders done so — given the Mormons’ huge sway with the Scouts — the potential for BSA capitulation on the homosexual issue would have been greatly diminished. LaBarbera references a Mother Jones article about the LDS Church cuttin back on funding anti-”homosexual marriage” state ballot measures in 2012, and Graham says the MJ article is accurate. The discussion ends with a focus on how the fear of losing corporate funding led to the Scouts’ proposed policy change — and how pro-family companies like Chick-fil-A and Hobby Lobby should step in and offer to make up any lost corporate grants to the BSA.

AFTAH Interviews Lobbyist Ralph Rivera on Threat of Homosexual ‘Marriage’ Bill in Illinois

February 11th, 2013

ralph_riveraThis interview [click HERE to listen] with Illinois pro-family lobbyist Ralph Rivera was conducted on February 4, 2013. Rivera is a lobbyist for the Illinois Family Institute – which is sponsoring a Defend Marriage Lobby Day against the homsoexual “marriage” bill in Sprinfield on Wednesday, Feb. 20th. Along with AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and co-host John Kirkwood (of Grace Gospel Fellowship church), Rivera discusses the pro-homosexual-”marriage” bill looming in the state’s General Assembly. (The Illinois Senate is reportedly slated for a floor vote on the bill on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.)

Rivera explains the bill’s threat to religious liberty — e.g., how in its original draft (likely to be amended) it would force churches and religious institutions that rent their facilities to the public to host homosexual “weddings.” There is also a discussion of how legalized “gay marriage” effectively forces pro-homosexual ”lessons” into public schools. In addition, the three discuss the Boy Scouts of America’s proposed change allowing openly homosexual Scoutmasters and Scouts. Rivera is also a longtime pro-life lobbyist for Illinois Citizens for Life.

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews Oklahoma Pastor James Taylor – Part One

January 23rd, 2013
Pastor James Taylor

Pastor James Taylor

This is the first of a two-part interview [click HERE to listen] with James Taylor, pastor of University Christian Church in Norman, Oklahoma. It was recorded Jan. 17, 2013. Taylor attended, with AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera, a federally- and state-sponsored conference on substance abuse and homosexuals, held December 12, 2012 in his hometown of Norman. Here is Americans For Truth’s original story on the one-day “LGBTQ2I Summit” conference, which Taylor describes as “nothing more than … a pep rally for the GLBT [Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender] community.” Taylor bristles at the analogy of conference speaker and (male-to-female) transsexual Celeste Flemming comparing “transgenders” being denied the use of opposite sex restrooms (e.g., due to women not wanting to share a restroom with biological males who want to live as “women”) — to Blacks being denied the use of “whites-only” restrooms. He describes how he came to the defense of conservative Oklahoma State Senator Sally Kern (R), who was mischaracterized by the keynote speaker at the conference as being on a “which hunt” against homosexuals. There is also a discussion about a heretical, pro-homosexual “What does the bible say about homosexuality?” flier passed out at one of the sessions attended by Taylor.

LaBarbera also comments on Wayne Besen’s interview opposite Family Research Council’s Peter Sprigg on CNN — about the Inaugural prayer controversy involving Georgia Pastor Louie Giglio.

LISTEN: Ken Hutcherson Says Rick Warren Behaving Like Politician Not Pastor – AFTAH Interview Part Two

December 13th, 2012

Pastor Ken Hutcherson

Here is Part Two of Americans For Truth Hour’s interview with Ken Hutcherson [click HERE to listen], former NFL linebacker and pastor of Antioch Bible Church in Redmond, Washington. [Click HERE to listen to Part One.] “Hutch” first discusses how as a youth he overcome a race-focused mindset to accept Jesus Christ, who became his ”new Coach” while the Bible became his playbook. In commenting on Rick Warren’s ambiguous statements about homosexuality, sin and Prop 8, Hutcherson says that for a man to indulge sexual thoughts about another man is a sin unto itself: “Our thought patterns [are] what lead to the sin in the first place.”

Hutcherson says that rather than talk about his “gay” friends, Warren should be highlighting his “ex-gay” friends. “We’ve gotten to the point now [that] we’ve forgotten that we’re pastors and we want to be more politicians,” Hutcherson said. “A politician won’t give you a straight answer…to save his life, but he will give you an answer to save his seat.”

AFTAH Interviews Pastor Ken Hutcherson on Washington State ‘Gay Marriage’ Measure – Part One

November 30th, 2012

This is the first of a two-part interview [click HERE to listen] with Ken Hutcherson, senior pastor of Antioch Bible Church, in Redmond, Washington. It was recorded November 29, 2012. Hutcherson discusses the failed pro-family campaign to defeat a homosexual “marriage” bill in his state. He drew attention in pro-family circles by. criticizing national groups such as National Organization for Marriage (NOM) for coming into the state and dictating a “moderate” leadership for the pro-traditional-marriage forces–at the expense of a unified, local coalition of religious and pro-family leaders that had already formed. (See these articles quoting Hutcherson in One News Now and Christian Post.) Hutcherson compares the Washington State anti-”gay marriage” campaign’s effort to stay moderate (he says he was denied a leadership role because he was viewed by NOM as “too controversial”) to GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney avoiding social issues to reach out to moderate voters. “Hutch” says Romney would have won had he exposed President Barack Obama’s radical record on “same-sex marriage,” abortion and other social issues because that would have motivated more Christians and conservatives to go to the polls. AFTAH will be inviting NOM to tell its side of the Washington State marriage vote story in a future interview. — Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH

AFTAH Interview with FOX News Contributor and AFA Radio Host Sandy Rios

November 27th, 2012

The following interview with FOX News contributor and American Family Association (AFA) talk show host Sandy Rios was recorded November 15, 2012. We apologize for the delay in posting it. Rios is the former president of Concerned Women for America (where she was my former boss) and hosts of “Sandy Rios in the Morning,” which airs 7:00-8:00 AM Central Time daily on AFR Talk. Sandy is also vice-president of Family-Pac Federal. In the interview, Rios reacts to the bigoted rant by Atlanta talk show host Neal Boortz — who absurdly blames the Republicans’ election loss on social conservatives. She also addresses the recent “gay” activist electoral sweep on homosexual “marriage,” the coming battle in the GOP over social issues, and the struggle even within pro-family circles to defend principle on the homosexual issue.  – Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH

AFTAH Interviews Bishop EW Jackson – Part Two: Says George Washington Carver Was NOT ‘Gay’

October 24th, 2012

Slams “gay” activists’ condescension and nastiness toward Black Christians

Bishop EW Jackson

This is Part Two of our interview with Bishop EW Jackson [click HERE to listen], founder and president of the Chesapeake, Va.-based STAND (Staying True to America’s National Destiny). Jackson’s YouTube video urging Black Christians to abandon the Democratic Party because it champions immoral and anti-biblical policies like homosexual “marriage” has over 1.1 million hits. In this segment, recorded October 19, 2012, Jackson takes issue with an “LGBT Equality Month” listing claiming George Washington Carver was “gay.” Jackson and AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera discuss the media’s and liberals’ bias against people of faith and especially Black conservative Christians. You can listen to Part One of the interview HERE.

AFTAH Interviews Bishop E.W. Jackson – Part One

October 16th, 2012

Bishop EW Jackson’s video urging fellow Blacks to flee the Democratic Party due to its anti-biblical policies now has more than 1.1 million hits.

This is a wonderful interview [click HERE to listen] with Bishop E.W. Jackson, founder and president of STAND (Staying True to America’s National Destiny) and bishop of Exodus Faith Ministries, based in Chesapeake, VA. It was recorded October 11, 2012, and is the first of two parts. Jackson is creator of a new viral video urging fellow Black Christians to “come out” of the Democratic Party due to its embrace of anti-Christian policies such as homosexual “marriage” and abortion-on-demand. Jackson says he has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Black ministers and ”Americans of African descent” on his video. He tells AFTAH that he believes a significant percentage of Blacks will not vote for Barack Obama this time around, even if they do not vote for Mitt Romney. He agrees with AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera that the Republican Party will devastate its pro-family “brand” by adopting pro-homosexual politics, and criticized Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, for acquiescing to homosexuals in the military (and, in Romney’s case, homosexuality in the Boy Scouts).

Jackson – a Marine Corps Veteran, Harvard Law graduate, and former candidate for U.S. Senate in Virginia — ends by saying that liberal policies including legal abortion and the promotion of homosexuality have done far greater harm to Blacks than the KKK ever did.

AFTAH’s 2012 Interview with Keynote Speaker Dr. Judith Reisman – Part Two

October 12th, 2012

“Ages range from five months to adolescence.” This Table 32 is reprinted from 20th Century sexologist Alfred Kinsey’s highly influential book, “Sexual Behavior and the Human Male.” As the table states, the data come from timed “climaxes” of children — ranging from babies as young as “five months” to adolescent children.

AFTAH Interviews Banquet Speaker Dr. Judith Reisman – Exposer of Alfred Kinsey – Part One

October 8th, 2012

The infamous and sickening Table 34 from Alfred Kinsey’s book, “Sexual Behavior and the Human Male,” showing “data” from a pedophile who timed the number and duration (“time involved”) of “orgasms” of babies and children.

This is the first of our two-part interview with Dr. Judith Reisman [click HERE to listen], who will be the keynote speaker at the Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) dinner-banquet Saturday, Oct. 27, at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, IL. Reisman describes Alfred Kinsey as a “sexual psychopath” and America’s first “sexologist.” She says his deeply flawed research became the foundation for the pro-homosexual “rights” movement, and how it inspired Hugh Hefner (founder of Playboy magazine) to become — as he called himself — “Kinsey’s pamphleteer.”

“Another key person who read Kinsey at the time, ” Reisman said, was then-secret homosexual Harry Hay, who saw the value of Kinsey’s work in shifting the discussion on homosexuality away ”what we do, which is sodomy, to who we are as a minority.” Reisman says Kinsey is guilty of abetting “sexual torture” with his “academic” publication of “orgasm” data of infants and toddlers.

AFTAH Interviews Rick Scarborough about ’40 Days to Save America’ Fasting and Prayer Campaign

September 17th, 2012

The following is an interview with Rick Scarborough, president and founder of Vision America as well as “40 Days to Save America” (www.40DaysToSaveAmerica.com) – which is leading a 40-day season of fasting and prayer leading up to Election Day, November 6. This interview was conducted September 7, 2012. Scarborough, a tireless pro-family warrior and friend of AFTAH, explains what led him to launch this initiative, which he said is gaining support rapidly among churches nationwide.  He also explains how he got involved in the “culture wars” as a Texas pastor when he learned of inappropriate sexual material being taught at a local school. We encourage people to join this campaign (it starts Sept. 28) and spread the word in their church or place of worship. Scarborough also gives his thoughts as a pastor on the unbiblical and unnatural concept of homosexual “marriage.”

LISTEN: AFTAH’s Peter LaBarbera & John Kirkwood Discuss Christianity versus Homosexuality, Democrats versus Republicans on ‘Gay Marriage’

September 10th, 2012

Why is Alan Chambers apologizing — to unrepentant homosexuals — for Exodus International’s past slogan, “Change is possible”?

In this broadcast [click HERE to listen], recorded September 6, 2012, AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and co-host John Kirkwood discuss several issues in the news surrounding the homosexual issue, including:

  • Exodus International president Alan Chambers’ embrace of “gay”-affirming Christianity and his appearance before the “Gay Christian Network” (at which Chambers apologized for Exodus’ former slogan, “Change Is Possible”);
  • An excellent response by Kirkwood to LaBarbera’s question: “Is ‘sexual orientation’ in the Bible?”;
  • Commentary on Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias’ compelling answer at an open forum to the question, “Is it possible for a man or a woman to live a sincere Christian life as a homosexual?”;
  • The Democrat Party versus the Republican Party platforms on homosexuality — and especially the Democrats’ formal embrace of homosexual “marriage”;
  • Sen. Dick Durbin’s (D-IL)’s overzealous response to FOX interviewer Brett Baier’s question about why the Democrats would remove the word “God” from their 2012 Party Platform (it was later restored in a controversial floor voice vote [listen at about 46:00 on the program]). Durbin asserts that “both parties are God-fearing parties”;
  • The growing push within GOP circles — including this article on conservative icon Glenn Beck’s website The Blaze – to advance homosexual “marriage.”

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews Liberty University’s Matt Barber on SPLC Connection to FRC Shooting

August 25th, 2012

Kirkwood, LaBarbera discuss victim-mongering behind latest FAKE homosexual “hate crime”

This is a copy of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s spurious online “Hate Map” listing for the District of Columbia. Note the inclusion of Family Research Council and Traditional Values Coalition on the list. The graphic for the “Hate Map” is a photo of what appears to be neo-Nazis with one giving a Heil Hitler salute. After police arrested “gay” activist Floyd Corkins for shooting  a staffer at FRC, they reportedly learned that he also had TVC’s address on his person, as a potential second target. It is highly likely that Corkins got his “hit list” from the SPLC’s devious and politically skewed “hate” listings.

We return to our AFTAH Hour podcast with this interview [click HERE to listen] with Matt Barber, conservative columnist, AFTAH Board Member and Associate Dean and Liberty University School of Law.  (This show was taped August 23-24.) Barber, AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and co-host John Kirkwood (pastor at Grace Gospel Fellowship Church in Bensenville, IL) discuss the shooting at Family Research Council (FRC) by reported “gay” advocate Floyd Corkins. Barber and LaBarbera note the linkage to the leftist Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which famously has labeled FRC, AFTAH and other pro-family organizations “hate groups” to diminish their credibility and influence in society. (In the wake of the shootking, Barber calls the preposterous SPLC designation a “Hit List.”) Now it has been reported that Corkins might also have targeted Traditional Values Coalition– a much lesser-known pro-family group that just happens to be on the same SPLC “hate group” list for the D.C. area as FRC.

In the second half hour, LaBarbera and Kirkwood discuss a fake lesbian “hate crime” in Nebraska that’s getting lots of attention, and also the recent “kitchen table debate” betweetn National Organization for Marriage President Brian Brown and homosexual militant and cyber-hater Dan Savage. Kirkwood says it was foolish for Brown to agree to the debate at Savage’s home, because it only lends credibility to Savage. Kirkwood and LaBarbera note that Brown did not bring up some of Savage’s more notorious and extreme statements (e.g., his own personal involvement in sexual “three-ways”), and Kirkwood says the event almost comes off as an “infomercial for Savage.”

AFTAH Interviews Professor Rena Lindevaldsen on DOMA, Openly Homosexual Judges – Part Two

July 27th, 2012

This is Part Two of our (second) in-depth interview with Prof. Rena Lindevaldsen [click HERE to listen], a professor at Liberty University School of Law and Associate Dean of the Liberty Center for Law and Policy. This interview was recorded July 26, 2012. AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and co-host John Kirkwood discuss with Lindevaldsen the liberal metamorphosis of American law from being used to promote virtue to its present use to promote vice (including homosexuality). There is further discussion from last week’s interview of the implications of an openly homosexual judge, Sophia Hall, presiding over case involving 25 homosexual couples challenging Illinois’ law defining marriage as it is: between a man and a woman. Lindevaldsen reiterates that Judge Hall has a clear conflict of interest and should recuse herself from the case.

There is also a brief discussion of Sally Ride, the first female astronaut, whose passing away prompted some homosexual activists to stress that she was a lesbian. LaBarbera speculates that there will be an effort to teach about Ride as a homosexual “hero” in future “Gay History Month” celebrations — including in schools. He said that while Ride’s groundbreaking achievements have earned her a place in history, her homosexuality should not be lauded nor made the focus of her life story. See Part One of AFTAH’s interview with Prof. Lindevaldsen HERE.

Prof. Rena Lindevaldsen

This is Part One of AFTAH’s second interview with Prof. Rena Lindevaldsen [click HERE to listen], Associate Dean at Liberty University School of Law, based in Lynchburg, Va. This interview with AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and Pastor John Kirkwood of Grace Gospel Fellowship church in Bensenville, Illinois, was recorded July 19, 2012. Lindevaldsen discusses the homosexual/ACLU lawsuit in Illinois contending that the state’s law defining marriage as between one man and one woman is unconstitutional. She opines that the presiding judge, Cook County Circuit Judge Sophia Hall, an open lesbian and member of a homosexual judges group, should recuse herself from the case due to an obvious conflict-of-interest. Lindevaldsen is the author of Only One Mommy: A Woman’s Battle for her Life, Her Daughter and her Freedom,” the story of ex-lesbian-turned-Christian Lisa Miller’s quest to keep custody of her biological daughter, Isabella, and to deny custody to her former lesbian partner.

Brian Camenker (above) is being sued for $1 million by Maine homosexual and Registered Sex Offender Adam Flanders.

This interview [Click HERE to listen] with Brian Camenker of MassResistance was conducted July 12, 2012. We discuss the bizarre legal antics of Maine homosexual Adam Flanders, who is suing Camenker for $1 million for alleged “defamation,” in part because Camender and MR refused to take down from their website an open letter that Flanders wrote in 2007 exposing predatory sexual misconduct at a “gay youth” center in Belfast, Maine. Camenker and AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera (and co-host John Kirkwood) also discuss Illinois homosexual lawsuits to overturn that state’s law defining marriage for what it is: one man, one woman. Camenker comments on AFTAH’s reporting that the judge ruling on the “gay” and ACLU lawuits, Cook County Circuit Judge Sophia Hall, is an open lesbian and member of a homosexual judges group that advocates for homosexuals.

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews Family Research Council’s Peter Sprigg – Part Three

June 30th, 2012

Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council.

This is the third and final part of AFTAH’s interview with Peter Sprigg, the Family Research Council’s top expert on the homosexual agenda. This interview [click HERE to listen] was recorded Thursday, June 28, 2012. AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and John Kirkwood of Grace Gospel Fellowship Church in Bensenville, Illinois, spend much of the program discussing Sprigg’s excellent brochure, “The Top Ten Myths About Homosexuality.” – including a section on the “born gay” myth and his “Myth Number 8: Homosexuals are no more likely to molest children than heterosexuals.” Note: you can listen to Part One of the Sprigg interview HERE and Part Two HERE.

LISTEN: AFTAH Interviews FRC’s Peter Sprigg – Part Two

June 24th, 2012

The following is Part Two of our interview with Peter Sprigg [click HERE to listen], Senior Fellow in Policy Studies at the Family Research Council. This was recorded June 21, 2012. [Go HERE for Part One and HERE for the archive section containing all AFTAH interviews.] Sprigg goes into further analysis of the Mark Regnerus study on homosexual parenting. He and AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera and Grace Gospel Fellowship pastor John Kirkwood also discuss the radical decision by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan not to defend the state’s marriage law.

CORRECTION note from program: In the beginning of this interview, there is a discussion of egregious, pro-homosexual media bias, focusing on CNN’s Soledad O’Brien. In the first of two CNN clips, we play O’Brien interviewing Dr. Fred Luter, the new — and first African American — president of the Southern Baptist Convention. LaBarbera mistakenly attributes a quote by libertarian Republican Margaret Hoover, another guest on the progam, to O’Brian. As you can see from the CNN clip HERE, it is Hoover, not O’Brien, who refers to homosexuality (“inclusiveness of gay Americans”) as “a new civil rights issue.” Then O’Brien condescendingly instructs Luter that his position on homosexual “marriage” puts him in “direct opposition to President Obama.” We apologize for the error.
