His mother went through his mobile phone messages and found saucy texts from a number of men whose numbers were saved in the phone. She went straight to the local police station and made a complaint.

…Police seized his phone and computer and identified at least eight men who had been in touch with him…

He claims to have hooked up with two men and that on one occasion he romped at home while his parents were away. Two men in their 40s – a language lecturer from north county Dublin and a truck driver from Rathfarnham – were arrested and have admitted having sexual relations with the boy but deny they were ever in his house…

Lesbian blogger Pam Spaulding published a post on Mar 3, 2007, entitled Intimidation Tactics In the Name of Religion Will Not Stop Change. In it, she accuses Christians of inciting violence against homosexuals — for example,

• Bil Browning, head of Indiana Action Network and Bilerico blogger, claims that, following his coverage of a protest in Indiana over SJR-7, he received threatening phone calls and that the window of his car was smashed.
• 72-year-old Andrew Anthos of Detroit was taunted and viciously beated with a metal pipe, leaving him paralyzed and in a coma for ten days until he finally died. A sketch of the suspect has been released, but no arrests have been made at this point.
• A 19-year-old Hoboken High School student, Andy Rivera, has been charged (and a second person is sought) in the brutal beating of a 21-year-old man, allegedly for wearing pink pants.

Ms. Spaulding, a Duke employee whose blog has been lauded by the university (which has historic ties to the United Methodist church), says:

“This behavior occurs because many fundies actually justify explain violence against gays and lesbians as God’s wrath being visited upon them. It’s about controlling the behavior of people who are different, who may or may not share their worldview, or else, dag nab it, ‘God’ is going to work in his mysterious ways by inspiring someone to take a pipe to beat a 72-year-old gay man to death or beat up a gay man for wearing pink pants, for instance.”

Though none of the perpetrators have claimed to be Christians nor to have acted on God’s behalf (some are not yet identified), Ms. Spaulding blames these heinous crimes on “fundie” (fundamentalist) Christians — and she is not the only activist to make such claims.

On Feb 24, 2007, Matt Foreman, Executive Director of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (which takes in over $30 million/year), issued the following statement blaming Christians:

“The hatred and loathing that led to the vicious murder of Andrew Anthos only because he was gay is not innate. Instead it is being taught every day by leaders of the so-called Christian right and their political allies. They disguise their bigotry as ‘deeply-held religious beliefs.’ They cloak themselves in ‘family values.’

“For years, Michigan has been subjected to the homophobic rants of Gary Glenn of the American Family Association of Michigan, while so many otherwise good and decent people have been silent. Just two years ago, the state endured an ugly campaign, led by Cardinal Adam Maida, to ‘protect marriage’ by writing anti-gay discrimination into its constitution. Based on that amendment, a three-judge panel of Michigan’s court of appeals voted last month to terminate medical insurance coverage for families of LGBT government workers throughout the state.

“It is appalling hypocrisy for these forces to pretend that their venomous words and organizing have no connection to the plague of hate violence against gay people, including the murder of Mr. Anthos…”

Excerpted from German Police Hunt Paedophile After Boy Killed, by Hannah Cleaver, published Feb 28, 2007, by Telegraph:Police in Germany used dogs, helicopters and heat-seeking equipment yesterday in their hunt for a convicted paedophile who they are certain sexually abused and killed a nine-year-old boy.

Authorities in the eastern city of Leipzig released chilling photographs of the last sighting of Mitja Hofmann. Captured by CCTV as he sat on a tram, the boy was smiling broadly as he made what was supposed to be his first ever journey home from school unaccompanied by his mother.

But the man sitting next to him was named by police as Uwe Kolbig, 43, a man known to police after serving two years in prison for sexually abusing children in 1998.

In an unusual step by police, they stated that they are certain that later that day, last Thursday, Kolbig sexually abused and murdered Mitja.

The boy’s body was found on Saturday evening in Kolbig’s allotment.

Police said that he had died after being strangled. Kolbig himself could not be found.

Our good friends at MassResistance have published a disturbing letter, originally sent to Mike Heath of Christian Civic League of Maine, from a young man who was active as a teenager/high school student with a group called “OUT!…As I Want to Be“ (we’ve linked to a cached website since the actual website has been taken out of service). This young man courageously discloses “negligence and abuse” by OUT staff and student leadership.

My name is Adam Flanders. I am 20 years old and a current resident of Belfast, Maine. I am writing to you on behalf of my own concerns, as well as the concerns of other youth members and past members (who wish to remain anonymous) of the nonprofit organization, OUT! … As I Want to Be located in Rockland, Maine. We wish to inform you of the negligence and abuse of OUT advisors and adult members…

OUT has since been mismanaged in many ways, but I (we) wish to inform you of the apparent negligence of the adult advisors and board members resulting in the emotional distress, abuse, and harm brought to youth members as young as fourteen years old. The Triangle Foundation, a Detroit-based gay rights advocacy organization, has unveiled a controversial Web site targeted against the American Family Association.

The group unveiled the Web site, www.AFAexposed.com, Wednesday…

Sean Kosofsky, director of policy and victim services for the Triangle Foundation, said the site was created as a resource to educate people about the association…

“We personally believe that the AFA may support the murder of gay, lesbian and bisexual people,” he said. “We are also fairly certain the AFA wants all homosexuals locked up on sodomy charges and put in jail.”

…The site also features a picture of Gary Glenn, state director of the Michigan chapter of the American Family Association, next to links explaining Triangle Foundation’s perspective of the association’s agenda.But Glenn said the association will defend its purpose to defend family values, despite the foundation’s views.

The physician quoted below is credited on many websites as providing care for about 90% of HIV/AIDS patients in Utah and surrounding areas. According to her online bio, she has cared for about 2000 patients since 1983 when AIDS was first recognized, and presently has about 1000 active patients. One wonders if this eventuality is plainly delineated by those promoting homosexuality in Deerfield High School’s Freshman Advisory class, for this is tragic.

From Utah Doctor Warns about HIV-Methamphetamines Connection, published Feb 2007, by Affirmation (a pro-homosexuality group for “gay” and lesbian Mormons):

A doctor who pioneered the treatment of HIV/AIDS…Dr. Kristen Ries (pictured left), Director of the University of Utah AIDS Center, made the statement in a recent interview with QSaltLake [which is “Utah’s Gay & Lesbian News & Entertainment Magazine”].

“In our clinic we are seeing young 18-, 19-, 20-year-olds coming in newly-infected with HIV and it’s mostly related to methamphetamine,” Ries said.

…“It’s very hard to see so many young people with permanent brain dysfunction,” Ries added. “A lot of people are very disabled and will never have the quality of life they had before, both due to the effects of HIV and methamphetamine on the brain.”

An Air Force officer was found guilty of raping four men and attempting to rape two others.

A nine-member military jury deliberated for about seven hours Tuesday in Capt. Devery L. Taylor‘s court-martial. Taylor gave no reaction upon hearing the verdict.

Taylor, a medic and the former chief of patient administration at Eglin Regional Hospital, faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Sentencing was to begin Wednesday.

“I am pleased. I am emotional, but I am very, very pleased,” said Maj. Kathleen Reder, a military prosecutor…

Military prosecutors described Taylor, 38, as a serial rapist who met men in bars, spiked their drinks with the “date-rape” drug gamma-hydroxybutyrate, or GHB, and kidnapped them.

Taylor was charged with two counts of attempted sodomy, four counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of kidnapping and one count of unlawful entry.

On February 7^th, Concerned Women for America put out a press release revealing that a homosexual activist had, in lesbian blogger Pam Spaulding’s widely read Web log, described the home and neighborhood of pro-family activist Peter LaBarbera and suggested a sniper should take him out.
