Message to Soulforce, Willow Creek Church and Young People on Homosexuality

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

willow_creek_security_guard_harasses_aftah.bmpWillow Creek Community Church’s chief of security (the man pointing and talking to police in the photo) became belligerent as he tried to deny Americans For Truth our First Amendment freedom to stand on a public sidewalk outside the entrance to the church grounds. Police informed him that he was wrong and that indeed we could stand with our banner on a public sidewalk. Our message responding to the homosexual activist (non-) “christian” group Soulforce was: “Homosexuality Is Sin. Case Closed — God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Photo: Dan Musick.

NOTE: we’ll have more on the Willow Creek-Soulforce story in upcoming posts. The following was posted on the Chicago Tribune religion reporter Manya Brachear’s blog, “The Seeker,” which contains a report on Willow Creek’s meeting last weekend with Soulforce homosexual activists.

By Peter LaBarbera

I wonder: is transcendent truth conditional on the age of the person receiving it? Either homosexual behavior is a changeable sin or it is not — 1,000 years ago, today, and 1,000 years in the future. The Word of God is clear that it is. I have met far too many EX-gays to believe that homosexuality is some fixed identity (“orientation”) into which people are born — and most of these FORMER gay men and ex-lesbians testify to the power of Jesus Christ in setting them free from homosexuality.

Media Ignore Impending Collision: Gay Rights vs. Religious Liberty

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

brian_fitzpatrick_2.bmpFolks, this is an excellent piece on the escalating pro-homosexual totalitarianism abroad by my good friend Brian Fitzpatrick of the Culture & Media Institute (a branch of Brent Bozell’s Media Research Center). I like to think that here in America, we would not tolerate such lunacy, but that doesn’t mean that our Boy-Scout-hating “gay” militants won’t try. For a sampling of the bureaucratic language underlying Canada’s anti-Christian oppression, click HERE to read the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission’s information sheet on the Alberta Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Act’s “sexual orientation” codePeter LaBarbera

Culture & Media Institute, June 10, 2008

Thank God for the alternative media.

Unlike the big newspapers and TV networks, small conservative online news sites are reporting the growing threat posed to religious liberty by the burgeoning homosexual rights movement.

Two indispensable Web sites, Canada’s LifeSite News and [American Family Association’s] One News Now, have carried a stunning series of articles in the past few days about critics of homosexuality being attacked by the governments of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Belgium and Canada.

AFTAH Challenges WKMB Anchorwoman Lauren Rowe for MC’ing ‘Orlando Gay Days’ Event

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

LaBarbera urges return to ‘journalistic neutrality’ on controversial issues; event raises funds for Orlando “GLBT youth’ group

lauren_rowe_2_wkmg_orlando.jpgAmericans For Truth sent the following letter today to WKMB (Orlando, Florida) anchorwoman Lauren Rowe. You can reach Rowe through her web profile page, and WKMB’s News Director HERE (scroll down on the pull-down menu to “News Director”)

____________________________

Dear Ms. Rowe [Anchorwoman, WKMB, Orlando, FL],

I’m writing as President of Americans For Truth and as a pro-family conservative opposed to the homosexual activist agenda, to express our concern about your decision to serve as “host MC” for the Orlando “Gay Days” Kickoff Party tonight. Here’s the web link citing your participation: http://www.gaydays.com/events/kickoff/.

Pro-family advocates and conservatives are rightly concerned about escalating media bias surrounding the homosexual debate. It is difficult for a well-known newsperson like yourself to maintain a reputation for fairness and neutrality while simultaneously hosting a “Gay Days” event that celebrates homosexuality. You must know that homosexuality and related issues like “same-sex marriage” are deeply divisive issues in our culture, and I would hope that you see it as your role, as a professional journalist, to “play it down the middle” in this debate. Also, the fact that Orlando Gay Days centers around Disneyworld — a destination for children and families — makes this homosexual celebration all the more concerning to pro-family Americans.

Media Shove Boy Scouts Story under a Tent

Boy Scouts face eviction by the city over no-homosexuals policy.

bob_knight.jpgBy Robert Knight

May 29, 2008

Let’s pretend we’re news editors at the TV networks and major newspapers.

This just in: The Boy Scouts of America have filed a lawsuit against the city of Philadelphia for threatening to evict the Cradle of Liberty Council from their headquarters in a city park.

If the Scouts don’t prevail, they face eviction from their 80-year-old building by Saturday, May 31.

Shouldn’t this be a national news story? It’s not.

None of the networks has mentioned the lawsuit, which was filed on May 23, and major newspapers have devoted as little as a couple of sentences to it based on wire reports. The only significant coverage has been in the local Philadelphia papers. And none of them gives readers any inkling as to why the Scouts (and parents) might not want to put children at risk by permitting homosexual men to serve as Scoutmasters….

The Scouts are fighting what amounts to an attempt at extortion.
Given that tens of millions of American men have been in the Boy Scouts and that this story brims with David and Goliath drama, why is it being ignored? ….

Bauer Calls for Impeachment of N.Y. Gov. David Patterson for Recognizing Out-of-State ‘Gay Marriages’

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

The following was sent out today by Gary Bauer as his “End of Day” e-mail for the Campaign for Working Families. Click HERE to sign up for Bauer’s excellent publication, which I enjoy reading every day. For a take on the Left’s reaction, here’s the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force’s press release on New York Gov. David Patterson’s imperious, pro-homosexual-“marriage” act. (What an ally for the governor: keep in mind that the loony Task Force in February gave its annual “Leather Leadership Award” to a homosexual sadistic sex activist who specializes in “consensual” sexual “slavery.”) — Peter LaBarbera

Coach Daubenmire: Sheep without Shepherds

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

coach_dave_daubenmire_2.GIFFolks, I think the world of Coach Dave Daubenmire, who is sounding the clarion call for American pastors to get out of the stands and become powerful players in the “Culture War.” We need God-fearing men of God to be engaged in this titanic struggle for the soul of our nation. Also, have you noticed what issue never seems to surface in the presidential campaign and the media coverage of it? Yep, America’s deep moral crisis. I suppose we should expect practicing homosexuals to defend perversion and gender confusion, and (most) politicians and corporate execs to act like cowards by appeasing vocal “gay” activists and their secular media allies. But is it asking too much of our pastors — I’m talking the Bible-believing ones, not the spiritual quislings — to boldly speak the Truth to our decadent culture that denies God by advancing hedonistic “lifestyles” and ungodly, counterfeit legal “rights” that will assuredly be used to persecute … the Church? — Peter LaBarbera

Sheep Without Shepherds
By Dave Daubenmire, Pass the Salt Ministries

“…and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

There is no law in America any more. Now, don’t take that the wrong way. There are plenty of LAWS in America, but there is no law.

Lex Rex is an old legal term which translated from the Latin means simply “the Law is King.” It is the premise upon which all natural law and our American Constitutional Republic was formed. No one is above the law and natural laws cannot be altered.

Yawn …. Networks Quickly Drop Blockbuster California Marriage Story

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

brianfitzpatrick.jpgby Brian Fitzpatrick, Senior Editor, Culture and Media Institute

The following article first appeared in the May 20, 2008 edition of “Culture Links,” the e-mail newsletter of the Culture and Media Institute. You can sign up for Culture Links on CMI’s informative website:

The Supreme Court of the nation’s largest state redefined the most important relationship in human society, marriage, and the networks lost interest in the story in one weekend.

On Thursday, California’s top court issued its decree ordering California to allow same-sex couples to “marry.” The networks carried the story on their Thursday evening broadcasts, but by Sunday, only one of the Big Three networks’ weekly public affairs shows bothered to discuss it. ABC’s This Week devoted a paltry two minutes to this monumentally important topic.

The liberal media treated the story one-dimensionally, as an historic victory for civil rights and the inevitable wave of the future, with a brief quote or two from opponents as a sop to balance. This isn’t surprising, given the media’s commitment to the homosexual agenda.

Are the Media Promoting Atheism?

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

CMI Report “Apostles of Atheism” documents how media spread ‘Gospel of Godlessness ‘ in 2007

apostles-of-atheism_cmi.jpgThe following is the Executive Summary of the Culture and Media Institute’s (CMI) special report, “Apostles of Atheism: How the broadcast and print media helped spread the Gospel of Godlessness in 2007,” by Kristen Fyfe. Click HERE for the full report in HTML, and you can view the PDF Version HERE.

CMI’s Fyfe writes (emphasis added):

By Kristen Fyfe, Culture & Media Institute

Only eight percent of Americans are atheists, according to the National Cultural Values Survey,* yet atheism was the “it” religion in 2007, with just three best-selling books generating much of the media coverage. Christianity Today put the topic at No. 2 in its Top 10 list of religion stories for last year. “The Roar of Atheist Books” was the seventh biggest religion story of 2007 according to Time magazine.

Media indifference and even hostility toward religion in general and Christianity in particular has been well documented by the Media Research Center for years. With the ascendancy of atheism as a “religion” story, the Media Research Center’s Culture and Media Institute wondered whether the media gave atheism the same degree of scrutiny as Christianity and other religious faiths? To assess the news media’s coverage of atheism in 2007, CMI examined the morning, evening, late night and weekend news programs on all three broadcast networks, all issues of the three leading weekly news magazines (Newsweek, Time and U.S. News and World Report), and four programs aired on taxpayer-funded National Public Radio (Morning Edition, Weekend Edition, All Things Considered and Talk of the Nation).
